how do we beat the golden gophers?

They are down their top 2 running backs. Without a run game, their passing game is pretty bad. This Tanner Morgan is not the 2019 version who was amazing. Our defense will bottle them up all night. They are not comparable to Oklahoma, Michigan state or Michigan on offense. We should shut them down.

As long as our offense does well enough to score some points, we will win by a couple tds at least, if not more. IMHO.
This is a legit take. That #93 you got should plug up the middle enough, and for some reason, we love running into traffic. We are debating about Morgan versus the OC. The coordinator has messed up offenses and QBs at his last few stops, look at the stats for before/after he arrived anywhere. But regardless of the reason, our passing QB is nothing to worry about. Our running QB is pretty small and we have no clue if he can pass or not. Put a small, fast edge rusher against our 6'9" 375 lb right tackle and you guys will give our RT fits - he can only block larger players. Like he looked solid against tOSU, but stunk big-time against Bowling Green.

Losing to Bowling Green took away lots of our momentum (almost beating tOSU, clobbering Colorado on the road...). The student section should be half-full and if you get up on us early, our fair-weather fans will bail.

I don't see the Gophers having a chance unless you bring back your week 0 team.

Is losing Potts that big of a loss? I know Ibrahim was special, so losing him obviously hurt. We have used like 5 RB's and I'm not sure there is much difference between them, none are great, none are awful.

Sounds like Minnesota will have Bell, Wright and Jackson, which should be a big boost to the passing game.

Our 6'9 right tackle was benched. I do not believe our 6'9 left tackle will ever make All Big 10.

One question I would ask is in regards to Kramer… his run for the TD in the wildcat formation was really nice. Can Kramer throw? Would PJ bench his clone for Kramer?

I think it's a big loss because his 2 backups are undersized freshman, so they'd have a big problem trying to run between the tackles all game long. Our RBs that are muscular enough to run between the tackles don't really belong on the field.

Those 3 WRs you mention are nice, but our OC is awful so I wouldn't worry about them. This should be a sure win for you guys, unless we go crazy with the wildcat, then all bets are off.

No one knows. But previously if Morgan had to leave the game, and we needed to pass, Kramer was NOT the QB who would come in - Jacob Clark was. Now maybe Kramer has made progress, but history shows that he wasn't considered the 2nd best passer before. So if he came in and passed on you guys, that would be the classic "horseshoe up your ***" kind of luck that you don't see very often.

Potts looked to be a good running back. Had some wiggle and some speed. Good vision. Very capable backup to Ibrahim.

Didn’t realize that… only saw him in for wildcat and missed that Clark would be the regular backup. I appreciate you sharing this.

Has this Nebraska team stopped a running QB? Michigan's did well against us. It wouldn't surprise me if they came out in that.

11am early start on the road in a cold weather game could play a factor. Need to start quick and score in 1Q like they did against NW.

Cold weather game? It’s minnesota, not Antarctica. High temp of 59 degrees, low of 41… Sunny. I don’t think they guys are gonna be wearing hoodies.

If we lose to an out-manned Minnesota team this year, Frost’s ability to coach will be in serious question. But I don’t see that happening.

They never where out manned last year.. Most of the 2 deep played in the game unless they were out because of injury’s…

Row the boat can't coach his way out of a wet paper sack. But, sure we could lay an egg and lose, no doubt about that.

How are they out-manned? Because they are missing their RB? Everyone is down some players this time of year. Last week they beat a Purdue team without several starters, including one of the best WR's in the country, but Brohm didn't make a bunch of preemptive excuses like PJ loves to do.

1) do not turn the ball over
2) remain patient

Nebraska is the better team. Play to your ability and you should win by 14+.

I've seen your last 2 losses, but man, I'm not even close to thinking we can win this game. That Michigan team would have beat us by 30 if they were in Mpls last weekend.

Gophers are HUGE up front on offense and will lean on NU all game long. Limit the possessions and make NU press to score as chances will be limited. Love RPO game once you sneak up on run support they hit Autman-Bell & Jackson.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of is the poster is referring to our RB situation. We've got experience playing at pretty much every other position.

OK. Gottcha.

It's weird, because it seems like they are pretty talented on offense, huge OL and talented WR's, but haven't played well on that side of the ball, at all. Their DL is also good, I think they are one of the best run D's in the country.

That's the key, IMO. If they are in 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 3 like they have been the last two years, that isn't good for us. Have to stuff the run early.

This massive O Line leaned on Bowling reen for an entire game and managed 10 points.

10 points.

One more time… 10 points.

Oh… and did I say Bowling Green? That’s right, I did. Now, any team can lay an egg, as was evidenced by us against Illinois. But I would put our defense just a shade better than Bowling Green’s defense.

Can't say I disagree but I am not taking anything for granted with this team. Outside of the NW game we find ways of making things alot harder than they need to be

We were worried about Sanford being hired as a replacement for our 2019 offensive coordinator, and it looks like we might be right to be worried. A check on his coaching history shows a regression in every offense he's been a part of for like the last 4 places he was at. We have NFL talent on our offensive line, and probably our top 2 WRs will be drafted at some point.

They were run blitzing and doing all kinds of stuff to stop our run and we NEVER adjusted. Apparently the plan was to just eventually out-muscle them or something. So if you can stop the run with less players that BG was using, that will just help the pass defense even more. But we'd run directly into 9 man fronts and then walk off the field when it didn't work. Maddening.

Yep, good point. Minnesota got points in all the rest of their games, but the blueprint, as long as Tanner Morgan is not 2019 Tanner Morgan, is to force minnesota to pass. If minnesota can do that, this game could be a dog fight.

I think we have 5 NFL caliber receiving threats. Manning (if he gets his mental game under control), Betts, Martin, Allen, Vokolek.

Our DBs are decent to good, and Johnson, the transfer from tOSU, hasn’t seen the field much that I have noticed. I think Morgan will have to drop dimes to be effective. He hasn’t been very sharp that I’ve seen this year.

But if PJ disguises things and gets our DBs looking to stop the run, they can be beat.

they do nothing well

as long as we get off the bus, we should win by 50
Lame Duck? You do realize Nebber as a program is basically a mirror image of Minnesota. Your last national title was 1997? Almost 25 years ago! 99.999 percent of guys playing college football today weren’t even born yet.

They’re getting closer and closer to Minnesota football. Dominated the 1930s and early 40s with 6 national titles, but haven’t done much of anything on a national scale since.

That’s what Nebraska is becoming. A program that once won national titles way back in the day, but today is just another program.
