A few things (watched it this morning because asleep well before it last night).

Porier was winning the standup exchanges, just like the last fight, & Connor was wearing down like he does. Connor loses his power early and has no late knockout wins, so he was in trouble.
Porier could control the fight with his much better grappling, and actually better striking. Conor can say whatever he wants, but Dustin checking his kicks did damage to Conor. When you feel a good check, you know it hurt the other guy’s leg. If it did go to the second round, it would have just gotten worse for Connor because he would be tired & damaged & probably knocked out in the second or third round. He was getting beat & Porier was fresh.
I’m not going to comment on the post fight stuff, but from a pure fight analysis, Conor was getting beat just like last time they fought.
Sidenote: as for the choke, Dustin just did the basic escape, out his head to the mat, raised is butt in the air, then hopped over to the opposite side. If Conor doesn’t let go, Dustin could actually Von Flue choke him then. But he used it to pass & pound Conor from the top.

McGregor is possibly the best self-promoter of all time but they need to set him up with a tomato can next time out in order to get him a win.

Running off at the mouth when the same guy just beat you twice in a row is weak.

McGregor is too small at 155. He either needs to fight a small 155 guy or go back down to 145 and fight guys there. Ortega, Holloway, Rodriguez, maybe Kattar.

I will give the guy credit for becoming a millionaire, but as far as the rest, it's time to "retire."

Good analysis. No one is afraid of Lucky Charms. His mystique is forever gone. Enjoy your money

He can’t get back down to 145. He’s not too small for 155, he is actually a natural 155er who cut a ton of weight to get to 145. He was the largest 145 in the sport. He would have to IV all night to be able to fight after his weight cuts. That’s why he moved up after IVs were banned.
He is an average fighter at 155. The UFC knows this. He has one win now in 6 years, against a guy who should be retired & got knocked out by everyone recently.
He is not beating Khabib, Porier, Olivera, Gaethje, or maybe even Ferguson or Chandler at 155.

That was a pretty embarrassing fight (DP was doing really well, and even seemed in a bit of trouble for a sec). I don’t like the mma and prefer boxing (actual boxing) so I don’t know much about it, but McGregor was like that guy who loses and keeps talking after he loses but everyone already left
Similar to when a safety celebrates a big hit and tackle after the secondary gives up a 30 yard completion

And the guys cutting to 155 are still bigger than a guy who walks around at 155

Well, the lady fights are lame.
That may be the only point that dude made that was half accurate. Most of the women fights are pretty boring. I can't stand Nunez because he is a very mannish 135/145 fighting women. I would like to see her fight Shevchenko again at 135. She is my favorite woman fighting right now. She is a badass that would beat the crap out of every dude on this board. Thug Rose and Joanna Jedrzejczyk are the next in line of those I like watching. Joanna is phasing into getting comfortable getting in wars and trading shots which will likely shorten her career real fast. Rose is a lot smarter than that.

McGregor is a clown. The broken limb is the only thing that kept him from lying in pool of his own blood by the end of the 2nd round. Great for sound bites and tv, but time to get out of the fighting spotlight.

Reminds me of the USC RB that put his ankle on backwards against the Huskers in what?? 2007?

Connor deserves it for all the **** he talks. He knows he cant fight anymore so he runs his mouth.

If Gaethje had beat Poirier he would have had a title shot, he didn’t so he doesn’t. Neither McGregor or Poirier is the champ, if Oliveira (the actual champ) and those in power thought Gaethje was title worthy they would have scheduled that fight. Again they didn’t so he wasn’t.

Connor could go on fighting and people would still pay to see him get crushed, there’s a lot of disdain for the little leprechaun.☘️

I was in Vegas and saw the fight at a bar watch party. A guy behind me bet 83k on Mcregor. He was super nervous and afterwards looked sick. We bought him and his friends a shot and wished them well.

Wow what a fool. McGregor has been done. I can't believe how much bigger Poirier looked in the cage. Poirier must have been hitting the weights hard his back looked wide and ripped.

The Wayans brothers made a movie in the 90's called "The Great White Hype" (I think that's the name). That's what I always thought McGregor was for the UFC. They moved on from Ronda Rousey (another UFC sham) real fast but it doesn't look like they have that next star ready to go quite yet. They are trying to push that rainbow-haired clown O'Malley but he's a joke too.

Sad state of affairs in combat sports. I'll watch Pacquiao fight Spence that's the most ballsy and tough thing any fighter has done recently. I'll watch Bud as well they need to bring him back to Pinnacle that atmosphere looked almost like a Pacquiao fight when he fought on ESPN.

Things change and people get better. UFC is just fine and part of any fight game is promotion. You can love or hate McGregor, but dude get promote his fights. I love Poirier and he is an animal, but even his post fight comments hurt his brand. Dude is just there to kick in skulls, but you have to have some showman to your game. There are lots of big time fighters in the UFC right now and I still love watching.

There is probably a shortage of “promotable” fighters in the UFC. A few of the champions are foreign

Even before Khabib retired, he was the most dominant guy out there but he isn’t going to draw in the non fight fan because he doesn’t have the mic skills of a McGregor and his fighting style isn’t all that exciting unless you just like to watch people get held down and beat up.

Jon Jones could have been that guy but drugs and failed PHD tests hurt him. Although I think a fight between him and Ngannou would be huge.

Adesanya and Usman have already beaten everyone in their weight classes. Whitaker/ Adesanya is probably the only title fight worth making at Middleweight. For Usman maybe a rematch with Edwards.

It's too bad Jorge Masvidal couldn't get to the next level. He brings some electricity with him and knows how to handle the mic.
