The rubber match tomorrow. Who takes it? I like Connor. Love his cocky attitude. Usually backs it up.
Poirier is a serious fighter who's gotten better with age. I think he'll finish the showman who has won one fight in 5 years. Showman has a handful of excuses ready.

Good move by Poirier to take the money. Fight for the title later.

The Diamond is a seriously talented, strong willed, durable mma artist with an always full gas tank.
I’ll go with the Cajun. Good luck to both, hoping for a great fight. May the best man win.

UFC is literally a Hollywood production nowadays. Expect some sort of scripted buffoonery tonight.

Conor has won one time in 5 years, against a guy who should have retired when I did.
He won at 145 against guys he outweighed by 20 lbs back when you could IV & USADA wasn’t testing. Then he couldn’t fight there anymore when the rules banned IVs & other treatments. At 155 he has won one time ever. Let me repeat, he has one win ever at 155. And that was a title match against Alvarez who got there through PEDs & has been horrible since testing.
Conor was always handed fights & made sure he avoided grapplers while coming thorough the ranks.
Somehow, while Gaethje sits idle without a fight, Conor gets a title shot at 155 with a win, despite having one win ever at 155, and only one win in 5 years in any weight class.
Most overrated fighter ever.

What if he wins? Still overrated?

If Gaethje had beat Poirier he would have had a title shot, he didn’t so he doesn’t. Neither McGregor or Poirier is the champ, if Oliveira (the actual champ) and those in power thought Gaethje was title worthy they would have scheduled that fight. Again they didn’t so he wasn’t.

You think that is how it works? LOL
Porier got to pick his next opponent. He chose Conor for money. He admits it. Everybody in the sport (those of us in the sport), knows you have to decide if you want money or legacy. When Porier lost to Khabib, he decided to go for money.

And that has nothing to do with Gaethje sitting on the sidelines. If Gaethje beats Poirier he is in control, he didn’t so he isn’t.

Years ago Larry Holmes got mad because Muhammad Ali was receiving all the attention when Holmes was the champ. He mentioned how he held the belt and Ali told him that HE holds the belt that matters. The money belt. It is like when Conor says it is red panty night when he fights. He brings the eyeballs to all his fights and everyone gets paid that night. Poirier may be better, but he don't make anywhere near the money even if it was against a better fighter.

Amen

UFC is lame (relax UFC dorks), but it is, in the end you basically end up with a choke or a move you did on your little brother to make him say "uncle:"

Boxing is similar in that you better be big and knock people out.

You obviously have no clue and probably prefer to watch boxers hug one another for twelve rounds. I will continue watching the guys and ladies that often end fights in spectacular fashion. Sometimes that includes tying some guy in a knot that would cripple a guy for weeks if you did it to your little brother.

I hate boxing (loved it when Tyson was the man)

The lady fights are horrible, you know that, it is okay to admit it.

I love watching it but it doesn't mean it isn't lame

Look, you are a cop, right? This **** is not real, that is okay, it is sport!!

I maybe watch one of these a year. I'm not a fan of MMA. I'd rather watch boxing. Watching tonight. O'Malley beat that guy in the face over 200 times in 3 rounds and they almost didn't stop it. He was like the T2 terminator guy. Just kept coming at you.

It was an easy 10-9 DP. Then classless Conor broke his leg and acted like a little *****. 5 more minutes would not have been kind to the Irish prick.

Time to hang it up bud

That was a pretty embarrassing fight (DP was doing really well, and even seemed in a bit of trouble for a sec). I don’t like the mma and prefer boxing (actual boxing) so I don’t know much about it, but McGregor was like that guy who loses and keeps talking after he loses but everyone already left

That Guillotine choke was never a threat, either need the arm, or be that damn good at submission. In fact, that gassed the **** out of Conor. It would not have been pretty in the later rounds. Conor was a one trick pony, caught a lucky knockout against Aldo, fought journeymen past their prime until khabib ruined him.
Antics still win over Ppv, so they keep mcgregor ranked high because he’s a draw with a cult following.

would love to see him never fight again

I had to get up early, so I checked out right after that woman beater Greg Hardy got put to sleep thirty seconds into the fight. In his defense, that big Australian guy did the stanky leg for a brief moment after Hardy clipped him and then went in for the kill. Hardy thought he had him and realized real quick that he in fact didn't have him. I laughed in the post fight interview where the dude said "He wanted to trade and I ain't the guy to stand and trade with." Night night to the d-bag. Hardly looked like the Dallas Cowboys everytime they play somebody with a pulse.
