Smothers must be in doghouse???
no.
Haarberg is a native son who looked good in the spring game. The media will no doubt play it up to get clicks and sell OWH and LJS Sunday papers. Smothers got the first reps I think and he came on later in the full conatact second half. Both guys looked as good as Luke IMO.

couple things from the postgame presser that stood out:

***Asked again if they planned to add another quarterback from the transfer portal, Frost said: "Right now, our plan isn't to go after a quarterback, no."

***Liewer said Haarberg had "a cannon" for an arm and had made plays as he did at the end of the game all spring.

***Taylor-Britt said the wide receiver depth was the best it's been since he'd been here, and speed was probably the most significant difference from years past.

Well, so far I’m up to 3rd quarter 2:06 left, and can count on one hand the series Smothers has played, and I have fingers to spare...?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m for every quarterback on the team, and for competition, with someone owning up to the back up position with AM this year. But how do you get a good picture of someone when they've played a handful of snaps?

Haarberg has the arm strength of an NFL QB, if he can work on his accuracy and getting the ball out quicker he has a real chance of being special, I hope he develops.

You don't want to send a negative message to our starter. He's fragile.

Haarberg smelled a little blood in the water today:

"When it’s November and we’re playing Wisconsin, you don’t get an excuse. You’ve got to be able to deliver, no matter what the conditions are.”

Is our boy tryna tell us he’ll be starting by nov 20th 👀

That play right there, where Martinez intentionally gets rid of ball defines how bad he is. Four year starter and throws the ball behind the line of scrimmage losing his team nine yards. This is why we can’t win
The skies are black. Doom and gloom are coming. He threw a long pass strike that hit Manning in the hands.

At least we “see” improvements with special teams. The coverage units are outstanding today!! Winking
Do you just wake up nasty? I think I will let them play Illinois before I condemn special teams and A M.

Yes, they have to prove it. They are masters at losing. What metric are you measuring their performance by?

So let's say Martinez doesn't change, and we get through the first 4-5 games and things look like we need a replacement.. who do you put out there? Part of me thinks Masker, if you are trying to save HH's redshirt. Seems we could use an older transfer backup QB.

Just keep in mind that the Spring Game rarely tells us how the Fall will go. It's for practice and fan entertainment purposes only. Some Spring stars disappear completely in the Fall and some players that aren't impressive in the Spring emerge in the Fall. This is true now and it also was true in the days of Osborne.

So, lincoln shocked me today.

Barry's closed, I knew that.
Sandy's not open for the game?
Brother's not open for the game?
Main St Pub not open for the game?

Duffy's was open, so was the Rail.

Masks, nowhere to be seen.

Railyard, packed :)

And I guess now, bras are tops, that was nice.

You don't need a mask. The charade is over. Unless you're sleepy Joe.

He's our Josh Allen. I'll take it. Put in the work.

Nah. If he's reasonably adept with the playbook and has the physicality, no redshirt. Let him loose. A lot of kids with his height need to fill out. He seems to have the muscle.

I got the feeling McCaffrey would always be undersized for the Big 10.

I thought Smothers looked good at times too. He has ludicrous speed.

I am not sure he is quite that fast but I like the movie reference. Winking

I was pretty sure he played in the first half. I'll have to go back and rewatch it.

even if you count all the spring games as wins
in 3 - going on 4 years - Scott Frost still doesn't have a winning record against power 5 opponents at home

And AMart is getting crap for those backward lateral passes. But shouldn't the RB's be setting themselves up a little further downfield on that? Unless they are running a trick play to have them pass it downfield I guess.

The ball that was called a backwards pass was blown backwards by the wind. He didn't allow enough for the wind to keep it forward. You know it's bad when your QB tries to throw a ball over everybody's head to the bench and he laterals it out of bounds for an 8 yard loss. That's not exactly a fast blinker move.

Some of the aforementioned places will never open again or if they do it will be with new owners.
