You never answered my or anyone's questions to your comments. So what is the problem with each of the above you mentioned?

Explain why so many are pounding our borders down to get here, the American dream, no matter how flawed is way better than most if not all. Again, name one better.

Student Loan debt just doesn't go away. Good paying jobs are in the minority. Earning power is greatly reduced compared to previous generations. For many, playing all their cards results in barely living. That doesn't cover the anxiety of any unforeseen situations. Everything that is needed to live costs way too much. What good is our healthcare system if it is too expensive to even use it?

I’m a millennial but at one point was gen y
I didn’t like being lumped in with the rest of the millennials but they’re not as bad as they’re made out to be
I hire them at work. I’ve had about zero problems with the
ones that are straight and not using (those are very few and far between) The rest are enterprising and upwardly mobile and motivated. They don’t stick around if something better comes along and that’s understandable
Their education is much more expensive than mine is and they are only 15-20 years younger than I am
Looking at my daughter’s education in about 5 years college tuition/room and board is way more than reasonable especially for out of state
We have four kids. I worked two jobs so my wife stayed at home until all the kids were in school and it about broke us financially
We are still paying off her out of state student loans at almost 40
Had to defer them when family/home emergencies came up
You never plan to have your spouse not working because of an auto-immune disease that set her back years. She works now but man that was some rough financial times

I basically stopped being an American Homer and noticed we suck in many ways compared to other nations in many regards. I was always on the side of healthcare being privately owned but I'm swaying towards the other end. Healthcare is the one field that makes the least amount of sense to be controlled by the private market. You'll pay whatever they say because you have no other choice. An illness or injury can and will bankrupt you. What a ****** way to live in the "greatest nation on Earth". We fear governments denying access but insurance companies do just that and renege on coverage. Fair labor laws are way overdue.

A person’s lifetime earnings are heavily influenced by their level of pay in their first couple of jobs. For a generation that had a hard time finding decent jobs in their first few years in the work force, that’s a serious problem.

As I said before, it’s not that it can’t be overcome. It can, and lots of people have and will continue to do so. Doesn’t mean millennials don’t have a legitimate gripe about what was left to them.

I’m not sure what “they voted for it” is supposed to mean. I’m sure everyone would vote themselves into a good job if they could. Millennials do not control policy. That should be obvious if you look at the demographics of the federal government.

With that said, many millennials still choose to live beyond their means....they could go to a cheaper college/community college for 2 years, they could drive older used cars, they could purchase cheaper phones and/or keep them for a long time instead of upgrading every year, they could stop eating out so often, they could cut Cable & Netflix and just watch Youtube instead, they can get roommates to save money until they can afford a small starter home. And there are also more opportunities than ever to pursue side hustles and side businesses to make extra money, thanks to the Internet.

Both of these things can be true.

I did/do all of that in the second paragraph. The real trick is to marry someone who makes twice what you make in addition to living cheaply.

They also had more affordable healthcare and education. It's not just because of cable or smartphone plans that some younger people are falling into debt. I don't even know many people in my age group that have cable TV and just use a cheap Netflix subscription instead, so in many cases they already are cutting back where they can.

I don't disagree, but a lot of that culture now is driven by fear that your job will be outsourced or automated, or you'll be replaced with someone cheaper. It's not a healthy culture, but it beats unemployment.
