In Phoenix at Case field.. Most likely the best bowl game Nebraska would play in but sounds like the team will turn down any bowl invites..

Playing day after Christmas late at night on a baseball field is not very appealing for the players that are already spent..

Minnesota and West Virginia are projected playing in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl..

I thought the culture had changed to a team that "loves football". IMHO if you love football, you play another game if the opportunity is there. Frost sounded worn out last night and wanted the season to be over. Maybe the players want one more.

If players don’t want to play, so be it. As for Frost being worn out, he is paid $5 mil and can rest for the next couple months.

Hard telling what their mindset is at this moment close to Christmas not seeing their family’s for quit sometime..

It would be only one more week but it would be nice if they could practice where they are going to play for 3 or 4 days similar to a normal bowl game and I don’t know if that’s possible for the lesser bowl games ...

They'd be wise to exit on a win. One more win would be nice but ultimately proves nothing.

This team needs all the practices they can get, especially on special teams.

So based on HCSF post game comments, I would guess any bowl game that they would qualify for that is played December 27th or sooner they will decline. Small chance they accept a game played 28th-30th. I think this staff wants to give the team an opportunity to spend New Years Day holiday with family.

The way the players went in "goodbye mode" immediately after the game tells it all! I have a feeling this was already pre-determined by Frost last week that we wasn't playing another game even tho the NCAA said all teams could.

I am pretty sure the players wanted to play another game, suspected seniors and guys with NFL potential.

That's why I wish coaches (Frost) contracts (5mil) were tied to wins, BOWL GAMES, Championships, points and so forth....NOT GUARANTEED! There is no INCENTIVE for him to want to play another game....

I don't know man. In the year of raising a newborn, losing his dad on the day the big ten announces the return of football after fighting that ******** political battle of trying to get football to even happen, on top if the rest of 2020, I'd say it's understandable. Not excusing the bad results, but thats not what we're talking about. And you know damn well there is no rest during the off-season for coaches at this level

What an absolute joke of a program we have become.

Coaches who don’t want to coach even though they are paid millions of dollars to do just that, and to lead the mentality of the team.

Players who don’t want to play, even though they are on scholarship to play a sport they supposedly love at the highest level for one of the most accomplished and recognized programs in football.

And fans who justify their attitude and have forgotten that football is about beating the team you are playing.

Absolute joke of a program. If Scott Frost turns down a bowl invite I’m officially sold he is not the man to lead our program. Maybe I’ve already reached that point.

If this is who we’ve become, Husker football is absolutely dead.

Hell I'm just a fan and I'm worn out from the drama. I guess it wouldn't burst my bubble if they decide to stay home. I honestly don't think they're going to have to worry about it though. I don't think we'll get an invite to a bowl.

Oh my bad for wanting to play football and expecting a spoiled college football team to want to actually play.
There's a whole bunch of teams who have only played a couple of games and have winning records who are going to be on the bowl list ahead of Nebraska so I think whether or not we want to go to a bowl is going to be a moot point. I don't think there's any chance. IF we got an invite to something ion Arizona or Florida we would probably snap it up for recruiting reasons if nothing else but I don't see it happening.

I don't think you fully understand the isolation this team has endured in order to be able to play these games. It's psychologically a beat down.

Plus, we don't do well following a win, so lets go into the offseason with less dread than we would have should we play a crappy team and lose

I was listening to Creighton-St John's at the gym the other night, so I got a chuckle out of your post. During the Creighton game, they were talking about how Creighton does a great job of avoiding consecutive losses. Whereas Nebraska football does a terrible job of stringing together consecutive wins.

Those teams are on completely opposite ends of the psychological spectrum.

(Now bring on the obligatory inflammatory Jaysker comments 😁)

NCAA said cancelled bowls could be replaced, we can’t just go play anyone.

The discussion all over this forum is that they dont want to play. So my post is obviously in the prism of the dicussion. Also, I said “IF scott frost turns down a bowl....”

Oh ok so the point of college football and being on a forum isnt to actually play/enjoy football. However, it’s not anout my enjoyment. Its about being the type of program that either wants to play or doesnt. Which program is better?

I missed something... why is the general assumption that the players want to play a bowl game but the coaches don’t want a bowl game? Where is this coming from?

If it’s frost’s press conference last night, isn’t it possible (likely even) that he was talking for the players?

Absolutely. They are on scholarship to play football.
IF they actally dont want to play, which might not be true....

Its literally stunning to me that college football players dont want to play football. It says a lot about our team. I cant imagine not wanting to play when I was still playing.

Some of it depends on the situation of each team. The B1G put their teams through the wringer this year. Some teams like Minnesota have only played a couple of games. I suspect they would like to go some place warm to get out of Minneapolis. They're not nearly as beat up as NU is and NU IMO went above and beyond the isolation protocols to be sure we could play all of our games.

I think if NU was offered a game some time two weeks from now in Arizona that they would go. Some worthless bowl game in a crappy destination and they might say no thanks. Why in God's name would you go to the Idaho potato bowl?

Well, if it were me I’d go to play football. I guess my fault is the assumption that college coaches and players want to play football.
but I guess we’re a sorry program, and this is how sorry programs operate.
but like you said maybe they wont get invited, or maybe they will and accept.

In a normal year this would be a no brainer...but in 2020 I get somebody wanting to end on a high note and turn the page. If they decide not to play they'll get zero criticism from me.

Right now the only people that a bowl game is important to are the fans. I know it's been mentally taxing to go through this football season on the message board, but other than fingur tips from typing no major injuries. Time to physically and mentally heal, sort out those who wish to depart go there way and start to prepare for the future. Sometimes you got to just let go of the past.

I wonder if last night was a home game, the team would be more likely to want to play in a bowl game. If they play in a bowl game, they will have played 9 games in 10 weeks, with 6 of those games being on the road. That's a lot of travel. Add in the stress of this trip due to the snowstorm.

6 road trips in 10 weeks I'm sure is taxing. Throw that in addition to just the overall wear and tear on this situation, and it becomes more understandable.

I think the Big Ten should have had the game in Lincoln since Nebraska only got 3 home games this year due to the Wisconsin game being cancelled. Meanwhile, last night was Rutger's 5th home game.
