Well, if it were me I’d go to play football. I guess my fault is the assumption that college coaches and players want to play football.
but I guess we’re a sorry program, and this is how sorry programs operate.
but like you said maybe they wont get invited, or maybe they will and accept.

You reek of someone that peaked in high school and isn't happy with the life you are living.

I can't imagine getting this worked up over some college kids and decision we don't even know is made. Let alone what will even go into making the decision.

Boy, if this team just cared as much as you they would be playing for the CFP! The ultimate walk on.

I think a lot of kids want to play, Wandale said if there’s another game then so be it. The question remains if we get the Dec 26 bowl in Phoenix or the 30th in Charlotte. The first one doesn’t sound too appealing because it’s a short turnaround time. If we get the latter I’d bet we play. It’s basically a one day trip to the location then come back home. It’s not like previous years where team enjoys the sites of the city. I think everyone is ready to get this season over with.

My impression is that they really don’t want to play. If they did, there would have been more talk along the lines of “we’d love to play another game if given the chance”, or other obvious enthusiasm for the idea.

Instead, they were non-committal and even Frost was laying out reasons why they might not.

I hope they do, but won’t be shocked if they don’t.

I wonder if the NCAA would permit a closed-door scrimmage with another team in the spring like they do in basketball in the fall?

Heck, college baseball has fall exhibitions and volleyball has one in the spring, not even closed door. Those I think are great.

Then again, neither carry the injury risk of football. But it is good to get a look against not your own teammates. Putting it as a closed-door scrimmage takes the pressure off to a degree.
Doubtful. Covid protocols will still be in place for spring

what a desperate attempt to silence me.

Am I allowed to have an opinion on a forum thats dedicated to husker football?
Is it really that hard to believe that someone would have the opinion that theres something wrong with a football team not wanting to play football? (And my post clearly indicated a hypothetical.)

And because I think this, somehow draw the conclusion that I “peaked” in high school? What does that even mean? Do hou spend your time thinking back to high school?

Im plenty happy with the life Im living, love it every day. Your arguments would be a lot better if it wasnt “since you disagree with me, you must hate your life.” 🤪

It's going to look really stupid if they get an invite and turn it down. They went as far as filing a lawsuit to play now they turn a game down? They are tired and I get it but suck it up for another week. If it were the playoff would they turn the game down? **** no! The bowl maybe meaningless but they bitched for it. I hope they dont embarrass themselves and go kick somebody's ***. Nebraska will deserve every bit of **** they get on social media.

The Big Ten pecking order is set. The only question remains if Indiana gets passed over for a NY6 bowl. There are six slots after the automatic bid to OSU if Indiana makes an NY6 game, five if they don't. We're not even next in line (Maryland at 2-3 has a better record), but both we and the Terps are unlikely to go anywhere.
  • CFP: Ohio State (6-0)
  • NY6 or Citrus: Indiana (6-1)
  • Citrus or Outback: Northwestern (6-2)
  • Outback or Music City: Iowa (6-2 with zero victories over teams with winning records)
  • Music City or Duke's Mayo: Wisconsin (3-3)
  • Duke's Mayo or Guaranteed Rate: Penn State (4-5)
  • Guaranteed Rate or Nothing: Minnesota (3-4)
  • Pinstripe: Canceled

If our players want to play, they'll have to be in a bowl that is not contractually obligated to a conference that has eligible teams (anybody that wants to play). So we're probably out, even though in the SEC bowls, virtually everybody but Vanderbilt (0-10) and LSU (self-imposed sanction) will get an invitation, and that includes 2-8 South Carolina and 3-7 Tennessee.

I'm fairly certain we're done, and I'm cool with that.

Wandale said that if they have to play another game they'll be fine with that, and if not, it will be nice to just go home and get back with their families. He didn't sound very enthusiastic about playing another game.

It isn't about the opinion you have, but rather the approach you take.

It's easy for you to say you would way to play, but you have no idea what the players have gone through or what they are thinking.

To me, it's just a bit overkill getting all worked up over a decision that hasn't been made. And that will be made by people you have no personal relationship with. And decided with information you aren't privy to.

They wanted to play football. They played. Now you are saying it’s a bad look because they aren’t meeting your expectations of what that means? Playing in a bowl means another week of practice, another flight somewhere (6th time in 8 weeks or something like that...) and if they opt out it will hurt recruiting? Yeah, when Frost tells recruits he left it up to the team to decide they’ll be like, “I’m out.” What are you smoking?

Man, some people are reaching deep and wide to crap on Frost and this team.
Yes they played but they wanted to scheduale another game when wisconsin got canceled. They already played football why would they want to play another one. They filed a lawsuit to play. Frost has said how important a bowl game would be for this team then he would turn down an opportunity. If we don't get invited then fine. We did not earn it. But if we do why turn it down. And you dont think a team would use it to negative recruit against us. Something along the lines of why would you wanna go play for this person he says one thing and does the other how cane you trust him. And you act like in a regular season they might not travel that much in given weeks.

The regular season is 12 games with a bye in there, 7 home games to 5 away. That’s 5 flights in 3 months... not 6 flights in 2 months... you don’t see the difference?

And yeah, the negative recruiting idea you have is so lame. I don’t think other coaches are gonna say you can’t trust what he says because this is 2020, where nothing has gone right since March.

But keep crusading. Frost is lame and recruits won’t come here. I bet your glad signing week was last week and not next week. I bet we would have only signed 4 players with all that negative recruiting fresh in the minds of our recruits...

Yeah this sure sounds like a team that's improving and wants to prove themselves. I'm fine with the decision not to play a bowl, but can we please drop the BS that this team is improved.

Improved on defense i’ll admit that other wise it would take a microscope seeing the difference as a team..

If Frost turns down a bowl invite then Neb should NOT get a cut of bowl proceeds from the rest of the B1G. Turning down a bowl when you are a loser is not surprising. I guess that he would not “do anything for the kids to play football”. I guess that was before he knew how bad of coach he is.

At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
Swooping in for a strong Post of the Year bid. Bravo!!

So let’s say we accept this game, are the guys allowed to go home for Christmas? What happens when they return to the team, will they have to self-quarantine?
Great questions. Could be why so many teams are opting out. Is it worth it for 4-5 practices, a game in an empty stadium and a late night flight home?

Nope, they would fly home from the bowl.

Penn State has already opted out

I hate to say it but I agree with this. Maybe you can't equate wanting to have a season to wanting to play another game at the end but they seem related. They will look really dumb if they turn it down. Not to mention the shortened 8 game season. Hopefully it will be moot and they won't get invited BUT if I were Frost I wouldn't be giving the guys the choice. Seniors of course can skip it and move on, everyone else get back to work for one last game.

I encourage those of you calling this an embarrassment to go to Penn State’s and USC’s message boards and share how embarrassing this is with there fans, as well as the other 16 teams (and growing) who have opted out of a bowl game.

Share the wealth. Let other boards feel your love as well.

What an absolute joke of a program we have become.

Coaches who don’t want to coach even though they are paid millions of dollars to do just that, and to lead the mentality of the team.

Players who don’t want to play, even though they are on scholarship to play a sport they supposedly love at the highest level for one of the most accomplished and recognized programs in football.

And fans who justify their attitude and have forgotten that football is about beating the team you are playing.

Absolute joke of a program. If Scott Frost turns down a bowl invite I’m officially sold he is not the man to lead our program. Maybe I’ve already reached that point.

If this is who we’ve become, Husker football is absolutely dead.

Personally, I'm going to flush this season down the toilet. Too many circumstances that the school had no control over played into the final results.

In fact, if i was a still a drinking man I would drink myself into oblivion 12/31/20 and start 1/1/21 with a new and fresh outlook in the New Year. GBA/GBR.

Cool. Next year about this time, we will be talking about not going to a bowl game for 1/2 a decade. You might be given an undeserving gift this year. Take it.

Indiana also has zero wins over any teams with a winning record. The only teams with a winning record in the conference were OSU, Indiana, Northwestern, and Iowa. NU beat Iowa by 1. That was there sole win over a team with a winning record.

Iowa has zero victories against teams with winning records. Iowa needed that Indiana crossover game to help its resume. Indiana didn't lose to a bad team. Iowa did.

I want them to play in a bowl game because I don't want the season to be over. However a Bowl game now is really just another game. It gives teams additional practices but not the emotional boost of going on a vacation as a team as in previous years. Playing in a Bowl Game this year is more of a grind than a grand time. Admittedly, I am bummed because my wife and I love going to some sunny destination to watch the team play.
