move Lubick to WR coach, get Malzahn as OC and associate head coach. Slash Frost's salary in half and give it to Malzahn.

Gus was the guy I wanted when we hired Frost. I think his approach to offense makes more sense here. Big fan of Gus. This was idiotic for Auburn.

21 million dollar buyout while withholding raises from staff isn’t a great look.

He will have some good offers to be an OC somewhere. Why would he come here? A bottom tier football program in the middle of nowhere, with no discernible recruiting base, a head coach who may not last beyond next year, and with at present third rate facilities.

If I’m Gus I just take a year or two, do some consulting and enjoy life a bit, recharge and wait for the next opportunity.

Moos has to retire in the first place to get a someone like Malzahn as a head coach..

Might be 2023 with the new facilities that the Nebraska job will be open and more attractive...

Love his approach to running the football. Too bad his league was just too much to keep up with. Auburn made a bad move here.

I’d take this dude over Frost. And I like Frost. He’s just getting his *** handed to him and getting paid way too much to do so.

I would **** my pants if we got this guy to come here and be OC. That would make us better, instantly

I agree with this. When the Covid crap is over and budgets stabilize and fans are back in the stands, if Frost is still losing then we can make a move for a new hire with our brand new facilities in place. But I agree that Mr. Moos has to go first. But now is the wrong time for a ton of reasons. I actually like Moos. And we all wanted Frost. Had he not hired Frost he would have been hated. And he isn't wrong to hang onto Frost. Now is not the time to fire him either and for all of the same reasons why we won't get Gus here as OC: it just isn't an attractive job right now.

Hopefully, Frost turns this around next year. I wish he would look to the transfer portal for a new QB. We need a guy who can toss the pig and find open guys. A new QB who has good passing skills is just what this offense needs.

Yeah, I am bitter about Husker football these days. And pissed. And just FYI... I don't have a lawn. Just a sheep pasture. And yeah... you need to stay out of there if you want to avoid my buckshot. Lol.

too lazy to search
is the going rate for buyouts equal to the remaining value left on contract?

Most the time, yes. Scott’s isn’t quite that much as his last two years are 50% payout.

Malzahn won 9 games a year in the toughest division in college football. If Frost had a reasonable buyout I'd can him for Malzahn in a heartbeat.

It is amazing how little patience so many fans have. UCLA's Chip Kelly had two terrible years before he started to turn things around.
Same with Luke Fikell at Cinci. Same thing for many new coaches. Frost needs more time. Everybody wanted him after UCF, and now
so many have turned against him. It is ridiculous.

Fickell won 11 in year 2 and 3 and is 8-0 in the top 10 currently this year.

Kelly is 3-3 with wins over winless Arizona and 1 win Arizona State and Cal.

Frost has led the worst 3 year period in Nebraska history.

Im in SEC country due to wife’s job so I’ve been exposed to a good bit of news and talk radio. Gus had just enough “WTF” results along with a huge decline in recruiting that it was time. Many players in his higher ranked classes ended up washing out so retrospectively they never lived up to their ranking. He’s also been extremely stubborn and it’s been pointed out he runs a Mickey Mouse gimmicky offense that only worked until everyone figured it out. Evidence has been shown to support that notion too. He’ll get another job but his marriage with Auburn was always strained. Not surprised at this in the least.

Pretty obvious that if he makes it to a bowl game next season his job is safe for another year..

He has no choice, has to get a better passer from portal.

Honestly I’d be pretty happy if we went .500, but also surprised as I think we might only win 3 games. If Briles doesn’t go to Texas Tech, I think we could get him at a bargain. The guy can coach.

There is a decent sample size of much silliness and sloppiness. I mean, a large number of legitimate "what in the hell?!" Making it worse for him was his level of brashness and cockiness when he got here. I haven't watched UCLA or Cincinnati, but there are lots of different reasons why teams can take a little while to get good. Frost's teams look completely unprepared, and indifferent, and it's getting worse.

The jury is still out on Chip. He still has a terrible defense. Luke Fickell is a young coach and looks like he's improving. If Frost was actually improving or learning, I could accept giving him more time, but is he?

pray that he doesn't land at Illinois.
It sounds like the Illini AD has his guy lined up and has since they lost to Iowa, which if that is true would most likely mean it is not Gus. But who knows.

Imagine going from a school where 90 minutes away is Bama and that is the team you have to beat AND you still have to win 9-10 games each season just to stay on the cooler side of warm...

To Illinois...where he would pretty much be a god if he just won his division every now and then. No real pressure at all.
