Normally I'd say no shot but with BTN $$$ it's a possibility
Yeah, it is really just a matter of if they want to spend.

There was a great article years ago about the president of Bama justifying the salary of Saban, basically it was all about applications and enrollment. Numbers for both go way up when you have a winning team. I think Gonzaga said the same thing with their number of applicants over the last 20 years,.

It is amazing how little patience so many fans have. UCLA's Chip Kelly had two terrible years before he started to turn things around.
Same with Luke Fikell at Cinci. Same thing for many new coaches. Frost needs more time. Everybody wanted him after UCF, and now
so many have turned against him. It is ridiculous.
You're argument dosen't hold water at this point.

He will have some good offers to be an OC somewhere. Why would he come here? A bottom tier football program in the middle of nowhere, with no discernible recruiting base, a head coach who may not last beyond next year, and with at present third rate facilities.
Why would he come here? A bunch of money

Honestly I’d be pretty happy if we went .500, but also surprised as I think we might only win 3 games. If Briles doesn’t go to Texas Tech, I think we could get him at a bargain. The guy can coach.
Briles would be awesome

Which we don’t have more of than most other big name schools who might want him too. I highly doubt there is a deep desire in our administration for paying out a couple million for an OC
Why not? We seem to have enough to blow $10 million on extensions for losing coaches.

Im in SEC country due to wife’s job so I’ve been exposed to a good bit of news and talk radio. Gus had just enough “WTF” results along with a huge decline in recruiting that it was time. Many players in his higher ranked classes ended up washing out so retrospectively they never lived up to their ranking. He’s also been extremely stubborn and it’s been pointed out he runs a Mickey Mouse gimmicky offense that only worked until everyone figured it out. Evidence has been shown to support that notion too. He’ll get another job but his marriage with Auburn was always strained. Not surprised at this in the least.

If I were a coach, I'd have to think long and hard about taking the Auburn job - it's no better than the 5th or 6th best job in the SEC (below Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Georgia, and could possibly be below Texas A&M at some point), but they expect results as if they are #1.

Gus was paid 21 mil to go away....they will have no trouble finding a replacement.

matt lubick, who has the voice of a 600 year old man, is a shameless crook

I'm really questioning if we even want him back next year. Receivers were God awful this year and he had no one prepared besides white walk-ons when Manning was out.

Especially in a year where we have reduced TV revenue, no home game audience revenue, laid off some administration staff earlier in the year and announced a major facility upgrade to start in the near future.

So Gus to UCF? They just hired his former AD at Arkansas State. Curious if his buyout from Auburn was guaranteed no matter if he found different employment?
