Agreed. He got hot the last two games, thus the scoring.

He thinks he's a James Harden or Carmelo Anthony. Looks look a pickup ball player that everyone does not like to play with, continually asking for the ball, taking bad shots, but then tries to overpower everyone to get points. But if he gets hot it's OK because the team gets to stay on the court.
Teddy is a guy who his teammates WANT to feed the ball to. He's a scorer. His problem early on tonight was he got in foul trouble and wasn't on the floor. We struggled when he went out.

This team will either win by the 3 or die by the 3 live with that this basketball season..
Acceptable strategy when you can shoot threes. But who on our team is a really good three point shooter? Webster and Mayen is all. Mayen can’t create his own shot, and Kobe won’t be able to against long Big Ten guards.

Allen is an okay shooter, but not the type of guy you recruit to a three-or-die system. Love Banton’s game, but he’s not a good shooter (yet). Thor was okay last year, horrible so far this year. Again not a lights out shooter you’d want in this system. McGowens same deal.

This looks like the run-of-the-mill Nebrasketball squad. A bunch of misfit toys that play sloppily and go on crippling scoring droughts.

There's a good nucleus to start from, a few years down the road, and maybe by the second half of next season, we might see this team start to gel into something good.
I was hoping going into this season this would be the breakthrough year but the truth of the matter is that's unrealistic when you empty the cupboard twice in 2 years. Tim Miles left Hoiberg with nothing and what he did leave Fred with he chased off. Bryce and Wilhelm are legit and will be contributors the moment they step on campus. I'm sure Matt will be able to find another high level instant transfer and we will likely return everyone that we want back next year. Bright times are ahead it just sucks being dog **** at the 2 main sports for the past 6 years.

considering the tweet he posted, feels like hoiberg is trolling us harder than anyone
The good news is that Kenpom's "chance of winning" games changes from week to week. I'm concerned about what I saw tonight and really what I saw early against NDSU. This team can come out flat and cold from the field. When it gets on a roll, it can look pretty good. I have no idea what to expect from them going forward. This might have just been a turd. The joy of sports is at least in part not knowing how things are going to turn out. Frankly, I'm just glad they're playing. I'll worry about the final record later.

Body language was definitely bad. Looked lazy, slow, tired, and a couple of other things out there. Maybe more depth needed?

Sounds like the Doc Syndrome. Doc used to run his players ragged in practice and they would come out with dead legs. Man I hated that hire. He might be a great guy but I don't think you can coach the way he does anymore.

if we're going to be anything close to competitive, we need teddy to average 25+

I don't disagree with you, but I don't see it ... bully down a smaller guard or the same little dribble set up to shoot an off balance 3 that has no chance ... again, I must be missing the reason for the hype.

an overhyped juco kid playing a sport at NU?

nah, can't be
Teddy could score before in his first year in D-1 ball. I think he'll be a good player for us if Fred can keep his head on straight. He's not going to blow by people with his athleticism. That's not his game. He uses his strength and if he gets you on his hip going to the hoop you're in trouble. Defense? Might be secondary for Teddy.

Wrong. Players are softer now yes. But good coaches can still coach hard.

We will most likely get Andre back by B1G play at the latest. I've heard good things about Derrick and he's for sure a step up compared to Yvan. But when teams in our league have guys like Garza I'm not sure it's gonna matter.
Unless Walker has made immense improvement in his redshirt year he wouldn’t be considered a step up from Yvan. Watched the guy play a fair amount. A bruiser who can rebound for sure but no offensive threat. At the free throw line he makes Yvan look like Larry Bird, Walker is shooting 34% ft for his career.

This team needs a real big-man to help get better looks from 3, better shooting would help as well. I think we’ll compete with Northwestern, Minnesota, And Purdue for a few wins, that’s probably about it from what I’ve seen so far. We knew how Fred builds his teams and that’s mainly through the transfer market. Once he hits on a couple as he did at ISU, more and more of the better transfers will take notice and we’ll start to get much better imo

As much as it makes me want to puke, we just need to play/start Yvan at the 5 and tell him he's not allowed to shoot (or dribble) and has to kick everything out. That gets Lat back on the perimeter where he belongs. Webster should be starting over Thor. I'd like to say Shamiel should be playing more but apparently he can't take more than two dribbles without losing the handle and kicking the ball out of bounds. I don't care how bad anyone says Walker is, I'm looking forward to seeing him as we are completely kneecapped in the paint right now. We also might need to get a salty junior high basketball coach (driver's ed in the summer) in there to institute a "5 passes before you shoot" rule. Our ball movement sucks but you'd expect it to when there's no one in the paint you trust to touch the ball.

I, too, think getting better players should make the team better.

I don't think Doc's a good coach. JMO. I watched him coach WAY too many games at NU as a head coach. Not a fan.
Doc is here for his defensive acumen. Bobby Lutz probably has the most direct influence on how Fred runs things. Fred is a players coach to the bone, he doesnt overwork these guys.

I get that is why Doc is here. I don't think there's any doubt that they guys had tired legs in that Nevada game. Maybe it was the team porn night before the game and not Doc's coaching.🤡

I know someone who watched an entire practice midseason last year. He said Fred worked them hard and surprisingly rode their *** pretty good. Granted it was only one practice.

Fred is a stud, and we are definitely getting better. If you are unable to see that, then go hit yourself in the head with a tack hammer because you are retarded.

He had a nice assist early in the game, had some rebounds and I think played good D. His shooting has not been good so far. The shots I've seen him take haven't been good shots.
I thought he played fairly well most of year...GA tech he seemed off. Would have liked to see him put in middle of their zone more to break it down.

Would be nice to have Thomas Allen right now as another shooter
