Yeah I don't get it. The left is angry about everything, all of the time. That level of rage has got to be exhausting. People from all over the world are killing themselves trying to get into our country, and the native borns are spoiled brats 2 hours after Christmas morning, pissing and moaning about every made up microaggression. We outta be a hell of a lot more grateful that we hit the lottery by being born in this country. 5 billion people on this planet subside on less than $2 per day. That's crappy, but there isn't 1 out of 1000 in America that would trade places with them, so let's all be miserable instead.
What rights are stripped? The only way I see that is the side continuing to try to deny access to healthcare for millions of people.
So we should just be happy that things are good enough and people are just getting by? I think we can do better than that and should strive to do better than that if at all possible.
How has the US owned up to its ****** history? I'm in my 50s and I just heard for the first time in my life about the Tulsa race riots and bombings in the 1920s. I bet there are plenty of Natives who don't feel like the US GOv has owned up to some history. I see you busy conducting straw men. What did Trump do to handle the rona? He's been a disaster on that front. He hasn't done a damn thing other than turn it into a political issue. Other countries have handled it much much better. Hell, you can't even get most people to admit wearing a mask is a common sense preventative measure. There are plenty of absolute muppets on this board who STILL downplay the virus. Trump owns all of that discord. He turned it over to the states. Total shitshow. You literally had states and hospitals bidding against each other for PPE and ventilators and medicine. Might work well if you are selling a product, but in what world should health care (during a pandemic no less) be managed (or more accurately, ignored). You can make a solid case that the Trump Admin's lack of response is directly responsible for a huge chunk of needless deaths.
Any Trump or Rep supporters pretending that they're outraged over how big bad Dems treated Trump is almost beyond parody. Jesus, can you hear yourself typing? Has there been a party, or a movement, that denigrates friends and foe alike with more contempt and outright nastiness than the right wing? Ever since the Greatest generation, every generation has been better off than their parents. Millenials are the first generation to be worse off than their parents. Maybe 50 years ago nobody got free healthcare, but maybe we can do better now and stop denying access to healthcare to millions of people.
I don't worry about what my neighbors are up to. I've got enough problems of my own and I can see that they are doing just fine. Each person is living their life as they see fit. I'll stay out of their lives and they can stay out of mine . They're free to make their own choices and live with the results. Some people need a hand and we're a generous country. Youll have to be specific, because as a rule, whenever there is a 'we' that's code for a whole lot of people not pulling their weight. If people want to voluntarily get together to take on some of life's bigger challenges, more power to em, just don't force it on me.

The fact that a large chunk of the party claims things like a slide into socialism or communism is tired rhetoric that has been going on for half a century or more, but we aren’t there are we? While we set in the middle of a pandemic, while working class Americans saw jobs lost, lives lost and the biggest disruption to our way of life in modern history we watched a President who openly admitted he purposefully downplayed the virus, claimed it would go away, falsely claimed we would have a vaccine by now and ignored lessons learned in Asia on how to deal with the virus. Meanwhile Wall Street had the playbook and took advantage of the pandemic with record gains and growth in their portfolios, all while the future generations unknowingly wrote a check for the latest round of corporate bailouts.
Now we have a President who wants us to believe there is widespread voter fraud, despite no evidence. There are conspiracies to get him, but there just happens to not be anyone charged as a result of this efforts, despite his historical interference in the FBI and DOJ and refusal to testify or allow others to testify during his impeachment. But by the way, the two dozen women who accused him of sexual misconduct, over multiple decades just happen to all be liars.
Trump has attacked war heroes, mocked the disabled, failed to lock up Hilary, never delivered on his original campaign promises of infrastructure progress, healthcare reform or reducing the deficit. He has alienated the rest of the world, including our closest of allies. Instead of trying to find common ground, he uses Twitter as his personal artillery to attack teenagers or anyone who disagrees with him. He pushes disinformation upon his base who gladly takes it hook line and sinker. He has yet to show a shred of compromise, empathy or decency 4 years into office.
Joe Biden probably won’t be a great President, I hold a glimmer of hope that he will bring us back to some semblance of decency, respect and civility in America. But I’m not sure we can get there, I’m not sure either “side” will let us.

How is it that you have a right to the products and services of another? Is that person not free to seek their own destiny, unencumbered by the demands of a ruthless tyrant? True socialized medicine means rationed care. The size and scope of such a program would balloon quickly, because when something is free, people treat it like a buffet and want more of it. You're basically asking an administrator in a cubicle to decide what cure you get for what ails you if any at all. The cure you want maybe outside the normal scope of recommended practices and simply too expensive. There comes a point when someone comes toward the end of their life and decisions will have to be made about their worthiness of care. Pills for the pain yes, but no alleviation of the core problem. So much fail with socialized medicine. You're better off using market forces to improve the care and quality. The fact that our current healthcare is anti-competitive and overly regulated explains its high cost

By the way, I favor a public option healthcare system. I think a single payer system would lower overall healthcare costs more, but would be a lot more disruptive. I think there are better ways to lower healthcare costs.
I don't know about that. I'm sure many countries don't have the testing we do and haven't counted deaths the same way. At least he's not calling for a mask mandate, which would be beyond stupid. Also the economy has been doing okay, and I don't think the stimulus bills pass as easily without Trump endorsing them. I honestly don't think anyone else would have done any better.

Our system, which perpetuates people like Sanders, McConnell, Pelosi, is what is wrong with our government. Our "leaders" (these people) have zero connection to yourself or myself because they either never have had a real job (producing political propaganda films intermittemtly, for example) or they have been on the hill for so long they've become disconnected from whatever roots they once had.
They utilize the resources that you and I provide for them in order to stay elected for perpetuity, short of blowing off their own head with some scandal or economic disaster.
It will never happen, but if we want a representative government, these people would serve 2 terms, if they're able to get reelected, them return back to private life.

You could have a senator serve for 6 years, leave office, and his staff of hundreds would remain in place, ready to serve the next empty suit. If we are to go by one metric, the popular vote, a majority of people disagree with your assessment. Trump is not a good person. There are just so many things he's said and done over the course of his lifetime to believe otherwise. Ultimately, he may lose by a slim margin, but looks are deceiving. He'll lose the popular vote by somewhere between 4 and 5 million votes. That ain't slim. And if Biden does win, assuming he holds Penn., Ga., and Arizona, the electoral margin will be similar to what Trump had in 2016, which he declared to be the greatest victory ever. If Biden said his win was the most impressive ever, Republicans would lose their minds. Why didn't it bother them when Trump said it? I know why, because y'all enjoyed the anger it sparked in liberals. Think about what that says of conservatives who claim the high ground on morality and decency.
It isn't just liberals in the US who look at Trump with scorn. He is loathed across much of the world. His supporters find his demagoguery risible, arguing "he didn't mean the things he said". No law enforcement agency, and very few Republicans are backing him up, because there is no evidence to support his tale of conspiracy. Simply not true. Two of the Govs bigger programs, Medicare & Social Security, have significantly lower administrative costs than comparable private sector services. Admin costs for those programs are waay less than Ins companies or mutual funds. Republicans have made “the Gov is bad” or the “Gov is the enemy” part of their platform. Simply not true. Private sector exists to make a profit. Gov programs serve the public. Your whole premise is wrong in the first place. Gov is not the enemy.
