You could add "No fear of failure" to your questionI just don't see it. We don't line up quickly and run play after play. We line up and wait for the call from sideline which to me is NOT playing fast.
Vedral had it mentally, but couldn't do it physically IMHO. Milton was special. He had defenses on their heels at all times. I'm hoping Smothers or MacCaffrey has some of that. Don't see it in 2AM.Well to me it is decided by your quarterback and how they can process the info and keep the team in focus! Not happening in our Qbacks! Milton at UCF had that " it" factor ! Will it develop at the Huskers Qbacks is the question!
I hope to see it. It's a fun style of football. I just want Frost to go to the podium and pull out a tried and true BC quote. "We take what we want"You do realize that there was no way we were winning a shootout against OSU right? Expecially once they realized there wasn't a chance in hell of going deep on them.
The gameplan was to slow the game down and try to survive close. Just like 2 years ago. Against anyone that isn't one of the best teams in the past decade? We'll speed up again.
I'd like to know his plays over 20 yards at UCF versus Oregon. UCF broke off so many plays that went to the house. His defense played a lot because his offense scored quickly and often.Frosts offense only plays fast when it gets teams in a bad match up and then he exploits that matchup until his team scores or that match up makes an adjustment or the defense calls a time out. Even his undefeated UCF team only ran about 71 plays per game. His Oregon teams ran 75ish in the offensive minded PAC

While true, we haven't "played fast" in any year under Frost. You do realize that there was no way we were winning a shootout against OSU right? Expecially once they realized there wasn't a chance in hell of going deep on them.

The defense has to get some stops, but overall, his offense sets the tone of the game and puts the opponent into react mode. They have to change their gameplan if they're falling behind on the score. He's not even all that concerned about the defense, other than they should get some takeaways for the offense. With Frost, the offense has to be dynamic.I would also like to see more up tempo. I think it’s a great way to attack a defense. They have the OL depth, but will need WR depth to make it really work.
Then, gotta make sure defense is getting stops and not giving up long drives.
Yeah that's not going to cut it.Best I can come up with quickly was yards per play.
Oregon 14 - 7.34
Oregon 15 - 7.05
UCF 16 - 4.68
UCF 17 - 7.46
Nebraska 19 - 5.76
Pretty much tells the story though
Everybody else does it. Frost is a copycat of the Oregon offense, but his generation of coaches are also copy cats of things that work. Defense is dead because of the limits on contact and you can play fast if the other team plays slow, but if both teams are adept at going fast then the the team that makes the fewer mistakes, turns the ball over the least, and gets off the field on 3rd down is going to win every time. We are really bad when it comes to efficiency...turnovers, getting off the field on 3rd down, and field position. I would not be surprised one bit if Frost changes to a massive oline, and option style attack over time, with power. If would likely extend his job and we would at least be unique.I just don't see it. We don't line up quickly and run play after play. also have to attempt deep passes to create big playsHave to get first downs to run up tempo and demonstrate big play ability.
So we would become Wisconsin after Wisconsin copied us from the days of old? Only with more option. It's a pretty good formula, because I want the running backs to take the lion's share of carries. But, I don't like seeing our quarterbacks being met by three or four defenders so often. In the past we had Runners who could throw. Frost needs throwers who can run a little bit just to move the chains.Everybody else does it. When coach Frost said the B10 would have to adjust to N, I just rolled my eyes.
DIdn't we just have like 7.5 yds a play against OSU though to kick off the season?
The controversy around our wide receivers is the biggest mystery with this program. He's recruited a ton of them but we have little to show for it yet. Stanley Morgan and Spielman could play a bit, but they weren't his guys. Time for his guys to step upDoesn't do you any good to play fast when you don't have the horses to do it. All that accomplishes is punting FAST. Which hurts our defense also.
If we ever get some weapons out wide I think you will see more of the up tempo stuff. But as long as Falck, Leiwer, and Warner are 3 of our top 4 WRs I don't expect to see much up tempo stuff.

My numbers say we were in the 6.7 range
Yeah it seems like we've found ourselves in "year 1" with the WR development somehow now that Lubick has taken over the position group. I don't understand why other programs can get major contributions from freshman WRs and we can't seem to even get them on the field if their name isn't Wan'dale.Yup it's the biggest enigma in the program. I actually remember thinking WR is the last position I would worry about as long as Frost and his offense is here. Unfortunately I was completely wrong. WR and OLB have literally been bad so far since they have been here.
Ok on paper but nothing to show on the field. It's hard to make any opinions based on the last class with Manning,Betts, Fleming,Brown, and Nixon as they are just a year removed. But we are hearing that all those guys minus Nixon(injury) are "on the come". But man that class before that with guys like Houston and Nance is a no show (besides Wandale). Class before that ended up flaming out as well.

They are playing fast, it’s just that Ohio State was playing even faster and negated Nebraska’s super speed. WinkingI just don't see it. We don't line up quickly and run play after play. We line up and wait for the call from sideline which to me is NOT playing fast.
That has not aged well. I was pumped when he said it. LolWhen coach Frost said the B10 would have to adjust to N, I just rolled my eyes.
That is/was not a great signAt this point I’ll settle for getting a play called fast enough to avoid a delay of game after the second half kickoff.

The big hit safeties and Lbs are a thing of the past...partially because they are going to get kicked out of every game starting in 9th grade and partially because everybody has to be able to cover if there are 7 receivers and runners on the field at one time. Kids used to choose defense over offense because of the physicality and it is fun to hit but those days are forever gone. A speed option power offense would be very effective because there is an abundance of decent skill players relative to 30 years ago, and defenses are getting smaller and smaller. The only caveat would be rule changes that discourage "hard and physical" running...creating contact with the helmet and such. I think that is the inevitable next step in making football more safe.So we would become Wisconsin after Wisconsin copied us from the days of old? Only with more option.
