4 wins ---> 5 wins = team on the rise!

An entire program includes coaches, money invested, facilities, recruiting, advertising. And probably more things I'm not considering at this moment. Not just wins. Put the infrastructure in place, and the wins will come. That rings true for Purdue and Nebraska.
Purdue is not at all at risk of having to cut their football program. Football is the reason they aren't going to run a deficit. Fan attendance has increased every year under Brohm. I can't give you exact numbers, but they aren't having issues getting people to games. I think every game had over 50k last year but Illinois, which was 40 degrees and pouring.Nebraska leads you in pretty much all of those categories. I'll have to search for the article, but I thought I read somewhere that if Corona lasts too long that Purdue would be one of the programs on the brink of possibly having to talk about cutting football. I could be wrong with that, but I thought I read that somewhere. Look Brohm is a good coach, and I will admit I don't know much about Purdue, but outside of some better than average recruiting for you lately nothing else screams team on the rise. You still have trouble getting fans to games that aren't considered big games, your facilities are new but not near the scale of a major player, I know nothing about your advertising, but I think no one outside of the Purdue bubble gives a **** about Purdue or thinks they are rising until they prove it. Name recognition in the Big 10 is OSU, Penn St, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Nebraska continues to be down but still at least has a little clout. Purdue doesn't.

The facilities are as good as anyone in the big ten. They completed this 65 mil project during Brohms first year. https://www.google.com/search?q=pur...91&biw=412&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=niv
You are probably right, they aren't as good as OSU's or PSU's or UM's. But I'd be willing to bet they are competitive with anyone else.
The stadium has gotten a new sound system, ribbon board, and one of a kind scoreboard is going up since Brohm arrived. Fundraising to complete a $120 mil + stadium renovation and upgrade soon.
Recruiting has gone from sub 70's to top 30 and 2nd best in the big ten I believe the last two years. Behind Nebraska of course. No reason Purdue can't get closer to Nebraska over the next few years though. Have to win a few more first.
All this has happened in the last 3 years under the new AD. Purdue is in the middle of joining the college football arms race. I'm very curious to see what Nebraskas new facilities look like when complete. They look like they will be pretty nice as well.
I haven't said Purdue is anything they aren't. Your the one who keeps claiming I have. Yet no one can tell me what I've said is false... I've agreed with you that each program is what they are. Both programs are considered to be "down" compared to normal and both seem to be getting back to what they should be and can be, which is consistently top 25 teams. I didn't come her to brag on Purdue, but simply discuss the game and provide an Outlook from the Purdue side while also reading and engaging on what to expect from Nebraska. So my point remains, where have I pumped sunshine into Purdue? It won't be hard to get closer to Nebraska as we are at one of our low points in history, and most of those items you posted about your school upgrading could be said about most of the top 60 football teams but it doesn't mean they are on the rise. As far as the arms race, you are already behind. We are spending 3x what you are and already have on par or better facilities than you do. Listen, I'm done engaging. You're a Purdue homer, I'm a Husker homer, but we both are what our records say we are, and as much as we wanna sunshine pump, we aren't close to a division title right now and neither is Purdue. Improve your 7-6-4 and maybe I'll listen to how you are a team on the rise....
I would bet you could talk to every fan of every program and they would tell you their program is "on the rise" I think it is just the mindset of being a fan. You always want to look for the positives and ignore all the negatives. No fan wants to cheer for a crappy program. Most of the times those goods are minimal and mean nothing as far as the strength of a program. It won't be hard to get closer to Nebraska as we are at one of our low points in history, and most of those items you posted about your school upgrading could be said about most of the top 60 football teams but it doesn't mean they are on the rise. Look at MN. They have been garbage for 60 years 1 good season and their fans start strutting around and suddenly think they are the next BIG10 king.
Fans see things with a skewed reality compared to what is really happening. Yes that goes for us Nebraska fans too. We have been 1 coaching hire away, one good QB, one recruit, one good break, one bad call, one tough schedule, one bad position coach, one bad AD from being back. As we are seeing we were a long way away from ever being back. At the time it seemed like we were right there.
I will say compared to schools like Iowa, MN, NW, Purdue we have history that says we will actually get over that hump.
Purdues history has been full of highs and lows. If you go back throughout history, they have had coaches reach higher highs than tiller. But it seems they always follow a high with a low. The AD Tiller had refused to build on the success of Tiller and instead considered football a $5 million opportunity and ultimately hired dandy Darrell. The program definitely doesn't have the history of a Nebraska, but there isn't a reason it can't compete for the west and continue to be the only team to have weird success against OSU.100%, but I would be nowhere near claiming that Nebraska could win anything of significance. My trap is shut to any outside fan base until we start winning again. If you are discussing with NU people fine. Wear your glasses. The other funny thing is most people in the old Big 10 view Purdue as a doormat. They had some decent years under Tiller, but nothing spectacular.
So you’re saying it’s a winnable game?I think we play a full conference schedule, and I think we beat Purdue.
wow, you married the only girl who ever went to purdue? impressive.
I know. Me too. But my guess is that lockdown restrictions will ease by the beginning of June, which will be followed by a new wave of infections, followed by another lockdown. I know of several colleges and universities that are already making plans for online education for the Fall. Sad, but that is the most likely scenario.
I agree to an extent. But when the lockdown is "eased" I think people will take that as a green light to return to normal and let their guard down. Social distancing will still be there from some people, but lots will ignore. Also... with regard to our season, there is a world of difference between easing the lockdown with social distancing measures in place (which I support) and a football stadium jammed with 85,000 and the Haymarket filled to the brim with drunken college kids and adults.Theres no actual evidence that lockdowns have worked any better than moderate social distancing measures.
Yes. Your probably right. Since he struggled at Nebraska where the coach was getting fired before he ever took the job, he's probably going to fail at Purdue as well. Brohm might as well start digging his grave. Let's ignore the potential 1st rounder NT and the 1st rounder DE. The athleticism in the secondary. The pass rushers in the front 7.
Side question. What's Nebraska's offense going to look like? They have a lot of new faces don't they? Especially WR?
NoaAhh, I am trying to remember if we lost any offensive starters not named JD?

I could Google it, but is Mills back at RB? I was thinking he was a senior. Probably wrong though.
He’s back, senior this year.I could Google it, but is Mills back at RB? I was thinking he was a senior. Probably wrong though.
Hard to argue against that. We have to been the scrub teams on our schedule.I will say this, if Nebraska doesn’t beat Purdue, I would expect yet another year with no bowl game.
Dude that's kind of stuff I try argue on this board, "more than record" and it gets straight up eaten alive. You're wasting your time with that stuff here.If you look at more than record, you would see I'm not wrong. Something tells me you don't actually care about discussing big ten football though.
So just have games with no fans and sell the games to watch them. If we're all being honest, no matter who we're playing, we'll all buy the games on TV in order to have a football season. It's weird, sure, but it' still football. And it really doesn't change if you were already going to watch the games from home anyway. I think it's dumb, and I think people are making a way bigger deal about this than they need to, but if it gets football and sports back, play with no fans everyone watching on TV.I agree to an extent. I could live with that since I live so far away and only make it one game a year anyway. It would be really weird to watch games in empty stadiums, but you are entirely correct I think... if this is the only way to have a season then do it.So just have games with no fans and sell the games to watch them. Personally I think they'd find a loophole or just something and try to get around that. Even if it's just straight up creating new rules to make it happen. I'd be shocked to see football season cancelled honestly. I just think they'll find a way to make it happen. There's just too much riding on it that can't be measured by $$ signs. Country morale, normalcy, sense of pride, unity, that's all there during football season. Without that, things get worse than what they are, and I'm not sure how that's possible at this point. But there is one fly in the ointment that cannot be avoided. If the University does not hold on campus classes and goes to all online instruction, as many universities, big and small, are thinking might happen, then there can also be no athletics on campus either.

After all that has happened so far in 2020, it might be the highest weekly ratings of all time given how badly people want sports back.I’m with you there, the 2020 season will happen. If it’s late or on time...won’t matter but it will happen. In my opinion there is way to much money that rides on college football. They will find away to make this season happen even if there is no fans and only TV crews. They can still make a killing on TV ratings.

no doubt.exactly. The football games would have millions watching.
At least someone understands. Haha wins will come for both teams. Both programs are looking up.Dude that's kind of stuff I try argue on this board, "more than record" and it gets straight up eaten alive. You're wasting your time with that stuff here.
I'm not too prideful to admit that there's always that one team on everyone's schedule that for some reason gives them fits, for literally no reason at all. I've always felt that those two teams in the Big 10 are Purdue and Northwestern. I believe "scrappy" is the correct word thereAt least someone understands. Haha wins will come for both teams. Your mouth to God's ear sir. NW is a giant pain in the A** for everyone. They are just so technically and tactically sound. They don't beat themselves.I'm not too prideful to admit that there's always that one team on everyone's schedule that for some reason gives them fits, for literally no reason at all. Truer words have never been spoken. That dude wears 90s starter gear pads every where there is skin, thigh high shorts, rec specs, and is balding down the middle of his head, and never has whiskers. But he sure is reliable in the paint.Your mouth to God's ear sir. NW is a giant pain in the A** for everyone. They are just so technically and tactically sound. They don't beat themselves.
If northwestern were a basketball player it would be that like mid 40s year old guy who puts up a double double every weekend at the YMCA because he banks shots in from low post, never misses a FT and boxes people out for rebounds. Its annoying.
I'm confident that Diaco will put everything he has into winning that game.
You and I are on the exact same page.Truer words have never been spoken. That dude wears 90s starter gear pads every where there is skin, thigh high shorts, rec specs, and is balding down the middle of his head, and never has whiskers. But he sure is reliable in the paint.
Fun fact of your night, Parker Hesse is actually my 2nd cousin on my mom's side. Didn't say a word to him at my last family gathering and wore all Nebraska gear every single day lolYou and I are on the exact same page.
He shows up to stretch for like 45 minutes before a pick up game and when you are young you hate him (i.e. why does this guy always show up?!?) But as time goes on you learn to respect the hell out of him for being so physically overmatched yet being able to compete simply by staying within his own abilities.
As an Iowa fan I HATE hate hate hate hate NW. It seems like they went 5 years with their QBs having the games of their life against us but after time you learn to respect that it doesn't matter what their record is or how much more talent you think you have you're going to be in for a fist fight and they are not going to beat themselves. You are going to have to make atleast a couple plays to win the game.
