To me I don’t know enough about kid to offer or not offer. What I do know is smothers sounds like a good prospect and mccaffery looked good in his limited opportunities. I don’t think it is absolutely paramount to hit on qb this cycle. That being said I would at least want to bring in body to compete. Kids sounds like at least a legitimate d1 prospect who is willing to work. With smothers ahead of him, he can focus on development. If better than guys we got even better
Everything you said is logical but it’s just not practical. We’ve been down that road before and it ends in guys like ryker fyfe and Ron Kellogg III starting important games. Due to risk of injury and risk of transfers, you can’t pass on taking a QB.

a scenario that has a real chance of happening in 2021, AM declares early and the loser of the battle between Smoothers and Luke transfers. That leaves us with Noah and the winner of Luke and smoothers. And with our track record of injuries at QB, that’s an awful situation. From past experiences, you take a QB in every class. Even if it’s a kid that’s somewhat of a project

AM declares for what?

this scenario is as likely as me finding the cure for corona virus in the next slice of Easter ham.

I was actually using that argument in favor of this kid. In our current situation we don’t have to hit on a qb this class. Kid is a project. If smothers is a hit and no injuries this kid would be set up to start for a year worst case scenario and I would expect next years qb to be a bit higher profile

The scenario that we could easily become thin at QB or just AM declaring for the draft? Cause there’s definitely been evidence at Nebraska of how quickly a team can become thin @ QB. I just painted out one scenario. There are many more scenario.

and now if you’re discrediting AM as a QB, I can understand that. He had a bit of a sophomore slump. But remember he was very much a media darling after his freshman year and I have ever reason to believe he was hurt all year. Don’t believe me, watch the Illinois game again. There is a telling play IMO that shows this. If he comes back strong his JR year he could easily raise his stock. No one would have pinned Joe Burrow the number 1 draft pick and Heisman trophy winner this time last year.

lastly, just curious. What was your old username? Was the old username permanently banned from this website by the Mods or did you make such a jackass out of yourself one day that you had to “start all over” like a coward ? Either that or you are a troll? Someone whose been on this board for 4 months doesn’t post as much as you do, virus or not

But thanks for hijacking the intent of my post. I have a feeling you’ll have another “new” username soon

I’m not discrediting AM as a QB, I’m saying there is zero chance he declares for the draft early.

Sorry your post blew so horribly one response ‘highjacked’ it in your opinion.

Maybe come back with a ‘new’ opinion and you won’t be embarrassed so badly next time, new user name or not.

Are the coaches seriously this desperate for a QB in next year's class? Going by the numbers, he looks like an amazing athlete. But as the premier class QB?

bro none of these guys are our coaches. Just fans that hope to see a local talent get some love. The Huskers, Coach V and Frost have loaded up our QB room and we still have a few other prospects out there that isn’t committed still. Ty Keyes being one and he’s a 4 star Top 250 QB. He’s been quoted saying he wants to visit Nebraska. I don’t see Haarberg getting an offer till the very end and that’s if there is an empty spot open and he’s our best option.

Here’s Ty Keyes profile. Again he’s been quoted saying he wants to visit Nebraska. No clue if we can pull him away from the SEC country but if we get him on an official...we all know anything could and can happen then. On 24/7 it shows Auburn, Louisiana (Ragen Cajuns), Huskers and Oregon as his leaders...GBR

The coaches have struck out on all their top QB targets so far (Costelli, Davis, Marucci, Garcia). Not many premier QBs still available in this class, and with recruiting visits on hold for a while, it will be hard to make up ground with any that are still on the board.

I don’t see Haarberg getting an offer till the very end and that’s if there is an empty spot open and he’s our best option.

The coaches have said they want to see Haarberg throw in-person before offering. So if they do offer, it won't be for a while, until visits are allowed again at least.

Seems like he could commit to Auburn any day.
