Jr at Norfolk Catholic. I know we have mentioned him in other threads, but probably time he has his own. I hope we offer and make him a part of our class, as either a QB or an ATH.
Just picked up an offer from Boston College:
According to OWH article today, Frost &. Ver are waiting to watch him throw before considering a scholarship.I get all the hype for this young man as an athlete but after seeing him play multiple times the past few years he is not a D1 scholarship QB.
If Frost and Verduzco are looking for “fast-blinkers” this kid is not it. Go look at his entire game films, the games where his team plays quality opponents he is a non-factor. Most of his plays in those games come in junk time.
Yes, he is 6’5” and runs a 4.68 according to his Twitter account but if he gets to the D1 level he won’t be able to ‘out-athlete’ the other team like he does in high school.
Let’s hope that Coach Frost doesn’t waste a scholarship.
I know the coaches wanted to see him throw live before Convid. We stand pretty good with Costelli and Haarberg is probably option B. I could see us taking both. Kid has a high celing and a pretty good runner for his size.
"Taking both"
How many QBs do we have currently?
If true, can’t we do better than that? The way ours have been getting injured the past 2 years you can’t have enough. Plus, the NCAA has made it very easy for players to transfer. Think of Haarberg as a project, like Vedral or a poor man’s Joe Ganz.

Maybe. He seems to have a high upside. What if he ends up being more like Josh Allen than Noah Vedral? If true, can’t we do better than that?

Great job not answering the question.
Highly doubt we take both unless Haarberg wants to walk on. Or if he moves to TE. I could see him being a great TE in a couple years. All conf type.

I saw an article on TOS that said he ran a 4.6, 40 (laser timed) and had a 38-in vertical, at the Elite 11 Camp in Atlanta.
I don't have a problem with taking a "project" QB in this class. Yeah I'd prefer Costelli, but it will be hard to keep him happy when we have McCaffrey and Smothers for the next 4 years. The odds are good that any QB we take in this class will eventually transfer.
I'm hoping the staff look at every player as someone who can compete for the starting job day 1. If he's better than those 2, that's a good thing.I don't have a problem with taking a "project" QB in this class. In reality, some players will take more time to develop, but are still worth taking. Especially on the lines.I'm hoping the staff look at every player as someone who can compete for the starting job day 1. If he's better than those 2, that's a good thing.
I'm not ready to anoint anyone a sure-fire starter, especially when they haven't even set foot on campus.
So with Costelli our, is Haarberg our top target at QB?
What’s you connection here? Just wondering, I saw you wrote the same thing on Sam McKewon’s Twitter. So do you watch Kearney Catholic play or did you watch him against another team you have a connection to?People can say high ceiling all they want but I believe they can find someone just as good or better than Haarberg to walk-on. Use the scholarship to try to develop depth on a O-Line, D-Line, or WR spot.
You think Heinrich is a slow blinker??? I have never heard that one before and can assure you that’s not a popular opinion.I get all the hype for this young man as an athlete but after seeing him play multiple times the past few years he is not a D1 scholarship QB.

Seen him at two camps last year (Abilene Christian and Wyoming). I also played college football with his HC at KCHS. Yeah...I have seen him.Sounds like you have a strong opinion the other way. Fair enough.
Since you commented on the board that doesn’t cost any money. Could we get some free analysis from you on Mr. Haarberg? It would be nice to see what you think and not what you are hearing from your sources.

Analysis?
Let’s hear your analysis. Instead of YOU demanding someone to give you theirs...let’s play it the same way and you give us yours and why you see this young man like you do? Sounds like you are just going off of his film. I’m sure there’s more to it then just that.
Have you went and watched him at camps and seen him spin the ball. And how long have you been a D1 Coach that’s been evaluating QB prospects? Just wondering because you want us to take you at your word over Coach V, Boston Colleges coaching staff or any of the other schools coaching staffs ooking at him. I’d like to know what makes you a better QB evaluator compared to the coach’s making hundred of thousands or millions.
and I noticed you have your profile blocked...why? Usually only trolls do that so everyone else can’t follow what they post. What’s you hiding and why are you worried about others tracking or seeing your posting history?
I was just interested to see what Bryan Munson would have to say since he is a big part of what Rivals does with Husker recruiting. If he wants to give some great, if not I just need to subscribe. Sorry man.
As for my analysis from watching some games in person and some film: I would have to say my original post on this site, what you’ve seen on Twitter, and what balsy said early in this thread would be the majority of it.
Awesome. Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate it.Seen him at two camps last year (Abilene Christian and Wyoming). I also played college football with his HC at KCHS. Yeah...I have seen him.
I see we have an offer out to Ty Keyes, but not sure how serious that is. Other than than we have nothing. So yeah Im going to bet Haarberg is the next option. Going to be hard to continue to get top level QBs to trust you as the QB whisperer when you QB and your team haven't performed. So with Costelli out, is Haarberg our top target at QB?

To me I don’t know enough about kid to offer or not offer. What I do know is smothers sounds like a good prospect and mccaffery looked good in his limited opportunities. I don’t think it is absolutely paramount to hit on qb this cycle. That being said I would at least want to bring in body to compete. Kids sounds like at least a legitimate d1 prospect who is willing to work. With smothers ahead of him, he can focus on development. If better than guys we got even betterMy view is that we had 3 consecutive successful years in getting who we wanted. I’m OK taking a project guy this year but we better get our top guy next year. Who knows with Haarberg. Could be a Ryker Fife at best or could also be Josh Allen or Carsen Wentz type guy. I trust Frosts and Verdu when it comes to evaluating qb’s.
