This surprises you?

You are talking about the fan base that claims to be Big Ten champs when they were one year, beat by a team they shared the “title” with. And another year where they shared the “title” with the National Champ. Truth be told, I’m 33 and have never been alive to see Iowa win an outright Big Ten title in football.
True, they also made rings for their "undefeated" 2015 season, in which they lost 2 games.

Well since they didn’t strap it up and play
one another they tied for the B1G title..Michigan beat them and went to the Rose Bowl the other year they claim a Big 10 title..

1985 was the last outright..I’m a old fart to so I was alive.Laughing

Of Iowa ‘a 11 Big Titles only 4 are outright.

I think 81 or 82 was their last outright title.

81 they shared but the B1G has a rule who ever hadn’t been to the Rose Bowl the longest went before a team that was there more recent..

Nebraska actually has 9 unclaimed national titles: 1915, 1921, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1993, 1999.

Add in the 5 NU won outright (with no losses and only one tie between them) and you're looking at 14 total.

So it's still 5 to zilch for Iowa if we're talking legit titles or 14-1 if fairy tales count.

Iowa has two other fairy tale titles (awesome description, by the way): the 1921 Hawkeye team was awarded an ex-post-facto title by the Billingsley Report and a contemporary title by H. Parke Davis (sounds like a toothpaste manufacturer). Billingsley gave them another ex-post-facto title in 1922.

That means Nebraska and Iowa were fairy tale co-champs in '21. Oh boy...

So we're looking at 5-0 legit or 14-3 fairy tale. Not quite as bad, but still not an easy pill for Herky to swallow.

Nebraska fans during the spring game...

Nebraska fans at the start of the season...

Nebraska fans about mid-way thru the season...

Nebraska fans about 2/3 of the way thru the season...

Nebraska fans by the end of the season...

You're right, I should be back over on my board talking about our bowl victory and leave you guys alone to chat about yours....ah, never mind.

Yeah, your bowl victory that was watched by fewer people than the Minnesota, Indiana, and Michigan State bowls.

Sorta like hearing a tree fall in the forest. If Iowa plays in a bowl, can you hear it? And if you can, do you choose to clean out your garage, wash your car, or see a play with your wife?
