Bye week could not have arrived soon enough

This team needs a total reset. We have two weeks to heal (mentally and physically), and for the coaches to figure out how to beat Indiana at home. No small task for this squad. That said, I suspect we'll find a way to win that game. That won't mean anything is fixed. The remainder of this season is a series of scrimmages, identity-building, and recruiting. Next year will be more of the same. Get used to it for a while.

Indeed. We really needed it the week before, we were all kinds of beat up after the NW game and our lack of depth makes that sort of thing so much worse. I was hoping we could still find a way to get it done in Minneapolis, despite all the injuries, but obviously that didn’t happen.

Everybody should say a prayer for return to health for our players. Man we need AM, Vedral, Wandale and Taylor to get healed up.

This will be a time to see if these coaches have some grit. Sadly, I don't see much of a different product than the previous staffs.

Terrible OL play, weak, undisciplined, bad technique
No rhythm to the offense.
Mysterious roster moves
Don't get me started on the LBs
Worst special team units I may have ever seen
Regression

What this staff has going for them:
They seem to give a ****
They can recruit

I'm behind this staff. But I'm far from impressed outside of getting a few dynamic players. I know we have weaknesses with the roster, but these dudes show up like they didn't practice at all.

If we come out uninspired and lose most facets of the game to IU, I'll probably tune into the NFL and forego Nebraska football till next season (not that anyone cares). I can't keep watching a team I really love play as pathetic as they do. NO more excuses. I'm sick of hearing them. This staff has to perform.

Hopefully this gets turned around.

It's shocking to see the lack of attention to detail that's become the norm over the last decade still here. Big things and little things.

12 men on the field coming out of a timeout. Illegal formation and other myraid mental mistakes causing positive plays to be called back and killing several drives.each game.

Center that can't snap the ball inside the frame of the QB for a month (an issue that should be corrected within a couple days). Fair catches inside the 10 yard line over and over.

I didn't expect a miracle to arrive with the new staff.

But I did expect to see some good football. And this isn't good football.

Watching the team make so many mental mistakes each week is piss poor football, and is why we lost so many close games last year. It's how Colorado -- an awful team -- was able to beat us twice. It's the same undisciplined football being played here that was here under Riley and here under Pelini. With the exception of the routine late hit personal fouls, it's all still here.

For example, Northwestern had beat us 3 out of our last 4 matchups going into this season.

They never stuff the ball up our backsides -- they pretty much hang around, take care of the ball, make very few mistakes, and wait for us to blow our own head off. And that strategy has worked for them with regularity, almost worked for them again this season.

I think that this scheme is built around the offense being so dominant that it erases much of that. Except that our OL is so overmatched in this conference that the offense never gets going.

Unfortunately for us, developing that OL is not something that happens quickly.

I can guarantee you our OL could be taught better and play better. They have **** technique and even worse attitude. The best one of the bunch just learned how to snap a ball 7 weeks into the season

Everybody has a plan until they get hit in the mouth, per Iron Mike.

this famous quote is pretty much how Saturday went. We were moving the ball on our first position but couldn’t do anything with it. Minnesota then hit us and we never recovered. I got the sense that our guys were exhausted and didn’t want to be there. We’re not deep enough this year so we gotta be thankful we get 2 bye weeks this year.

Heh, well don't feel like the Lone Ranger. You're not the only one that was holding hard on hope.

Yes sir, those bye weeks are just what the doctor ordered.

Agree a bye week should help them rest and reset. The players and coaches needed it. Hope they put it to good use and beat Indiana in a little over a week.

Oh man I love Nebraska football, and I believe Scott Frost can get it done here, but they've had all summer to get the snaps from center ironed out....how is a week going to fix it all...not just the snaps?

Nothing will be "fixed" in a week. This thing will take years.

**** technique? Explain.

It took 6wks for them to correct a snap issue that could have been corrected in one wk of practice

They can’t pick up a stunt to save their lives

they have horrible leverage and footwork

Maybe they’re just horrible players but I don’t believe that. I bet a great coach could get maximum effort out of them.

Milt would need just as much time as Austin to fix this. Milt built O lines and didn't have too many kids like we're playing now. Even then, he would sometimes end up with a kid playing in the O line who had trouble doing his job consistently from either a physical or mental standpoint. Not all of Milts O linemen were All Americans. We've got both physical and mental limitations right now. It will get better.

For once I disagree with you sir. Uncle Milt never had a horribly inept OLine like what we see every week now. Not even remotely close.....
