Add Mike leach, Mark Mangino , Gary Pinkel, Bill Snyder, Bill McCartney... pretty much every program rebuild has taken at least 4 years because it takes 4 years to get your players to maximize. Some at blue bloods have had great first years and were gone by year 4 because they set expectations really high with a great 1st season with somebody else's seniors. Taking over for a coach that only lasted three years is really awkward because that coach never had a full cycle of recruiting, their first year was broken recruiting, and their last year was broken recruiting which means you have two broken recruiting classes in 4 years and their youngest class is liable to jump ship which effectively means we had broken recruiting classes in 2015, 2017, 2018..which speaks to our problems now.Just a few points to make.
Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin went 1-10 year 1, then went 5-6 in year 2 and then went 5-6 in year 3 and then finally in year 4 he went 10-1. It took him 4 years to rebuild the Badgers.
Kirk Ferentz at Iowa went 1-10 in year 1, then went 3-8 in year 2 and then went 7-5 in year 3 and then finally in year 4 he went 11-2.
My point is this, most decent to good coach when doing a complete rebuild takes 3-4 years before they start winning again. These two Head Coaches both had to do a complete rebuild just like Scott Frost is now. Us expecting results in year 2 is a bit of a stretch at best. We have to be patient just like Wisconsin was with Barry and Iowa was with Kirk.

Btw Khalil tried to punch somebody again after he gave up a key 3rd down play. I don't think getting in a fist fight is going to help anything. If a player is reading this board, I'd advise against reading anything on here or any other message board/social media for that matter. While you may find nuggets of truth here and there, there is so much garbage to wade through, it isn't worth it in the end. I'd rather hear about a fist fight in the locker room or during practice, then we would know you're making some progress.
didnt take Devaney very longIf say so. It doesn’t matter time frame. Doesn’t matter at ALL. It’s two Head Coaches we all know that both pulled off rebuilds. Don’t flip it because it doesn’t fit your agenda. 1998 or 2001 or 2017...doesn’t make a difference at all. Rebuilds take time.
Good god maybe you are right we now currently rank among the worst programs in the history of College football as a starting point. Kansas was starting below zero, KSU was the same and CU was not far behind that. Not sure about MU but they improved when NU took a dive.Add Mike leach, Mark Mangino , Gary Pinkel, Bill Snyder, Bill McCartney... pretty much every program rebuild has taken at least 4 years because it takes 4 years to get your players to maximize. Meanwhile the Nebraska offense scored one junk time touchdown, is ranked 76th nationally in total offense and 97th in turnover margin. Do you want to call out any offensive coaches Hoosker DohWell, hopefully Chinander reads this board too. If so...
Chins, your defense gave up 7.3 yards/play last night...to a respectable, but not great Minnesota team. Your defense represents one of the worst performances of any of the teams that Minnesota has played, which includes an FCS team and a number of non-Power 5 schools. They literally ran the ball at will all night.
How about you do the team, your head coach, and the fans a favor and GTFO!!
You are the one using outdated examples to fit your agenda. I'm just pointing it out. There have been dozens and dozens of new coaching hires since, and dozens and dozens of rebuilds. Finding two that fit your agenda from the 1990's means absolutely nothing. Sorry. If say so. It doesn’t matter time frame. Doesn’t matter at ALL. We were 6-18 from 2016 to 2018.... that is about as bad as it gets considering our 6 wins came against Maryland, Rutgers, Arkansas State, Minnesota....it is nearly impossible to be that bad when you pay teams to play you and play in the weakest division in college football..and your 80k fans come to each game and travel to each game.Good god maybe you are right we now currently rank among the worst programs in the history of College football as a starting point. Kansas was starting below zero, KSU was the same and CU was not far behind that. Not sure about MU but they improved when NU took a dive.
These coaches will get all the time in the world to get a truly fair shot. What we do not need right now is to justify the play we see on the field. That line of thinking is what got us into this mess in the first place
You guys are missing the point. They read the boards because they have a drinking game where every time someone here says "unacceptable" they have to take a drink.
Don't usually reply to posts like this but if posts on a message board, which they shouldn't be paying attention to anyway, are going to hurt their feelings and they might take their ball and go home cuz they got called names, they don't have the fortitude to be playing big boy football and should go home.I have a nephew on the team and yes they do read this board. Maybe the players will do a big fck you and mail the rest of the season in!!!
neither Barry Alvarez or Kirk Ferentz has won crap. What’s the point?

You have somewhat of a point. I supported Riley to almost the bitter end but the proof of his recruiting is in the pudding. Look at how few of his guys who are quality contributors. The difference is that Riley's guys are now at least 3 years in and should have it figured out by now. Most of them don't. I normally try to refrain from calling out players by name but at some point they have to do their job. It isn't Hixson's fault that he's called on before he's ready for the B1G. It isn't Farniok's fault that he has to play OT instead of OG. It damned sure isn't Jurgen's fault that he has to start at center. The one common denominator is that Cavanaugh and Riley's recruiting of the O line left a lot to be desired.
Farniok apparently told a media type that "we need to get away from each other for a while". When you have a captain saying something like that, the chemistry must not be great right now.. A couple of blowouts like we've had can do that. People start pointing fingers at each other. Hopefully they come back from a short break ready to kick some butt.I would like to know, what is his take as to what is wrong? Is the culture still broken? Is there a divide in the locker room? Are people not being held accountable? Are there coaches they don't respect? Are there guys that need to be on the field that are languishing on the bench?

right, outdated examples. Flip it as you see fit. I don’t really give a fly f_ck. I used two teams that had to go through rebuilds and used them as an example. Outdated? Like it makes a difference if it’s 1990 or 2010. Rebuilds still take time regardless the year. You have to be a complete moron to think differently, truly. Dabo Swinney even took a few years to turn Clemson into a power. He didn’t do it a couple years either. There’s a recent on for you and even then Dabo don’t the issues Frost faces.
And since you seen dozen on dozen of COMPLETE REBUILDS....then name them off. I want you to show me how many coaches you seen do a complete rebuild and do it FAST. It’s one thing to hire a coach that’s been on staff or a complete new coach that comes in and takes over a team that has roster full of top 100 players. A team full of 5 star and high 4 star players. Sure, then it’s easier and you can fix them fast. But It’s a complete different story for a head coach to take over the mess like Scott Frost did.
Show me another Head Coach that took over the same type of mess Frost did (a complete dumpster fire with monster roster issues and big time recruiting misses) and fixed it fast....I’m whiling to bet you will not find another Head Coach out there that had his team fixed in 2 years with the same issues and dumpster fire like Scott Frost is facing with our Huskers now.
... and you wonder why we've been soft for nearly 2 decades.be more respectful!!!
