Probably not this year. But even as we speak, top recruits are being wowed by our coach's celebrity status. CWS in 2020, baby!

Three pitchers will get hurt for the season early on and earstad will have a built in excuse.
Status quo until the boosters, err, i mean the new AD cans Erstad and we start the process all over again.

We'll see if the changes in training help prevent arm injuries. It won't solve the glaring flaw that is Erstad as hitting coach. Unless a player comes in with raw talent like Schreiber (credit due to Erstad for getting him here, certainly), I don't expect much clutch hitting or situationally-aware baserunning
D1Baseball agrees. They rank us 8th in conference with Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois on top. They have Maryland, Northwestern, Rutgers and Penn St at the bottom.
I will never be close to that guy posting ability. He is a top 5 all timer in my book.

1. Play a tough non-con that doesn't help you at all
2. Start conference play with some of the crappy Big Ten teams and manage to not sweep or win the series
3. Have to make a late run to make the horrible Big Ten tourney
4. Be hot at the right time...only to flame out faster than a virgin on prom night.

There is a good deal of talent in this Freshman class along with the returners, as well we got everybody back from injury which was a **** ton of the team last year and we now also have some pretty big sticks in the lineup in some of these youngsters. By the end of the year after some of these younger players get some seasoning, were gonna pretty damn good as long as we can shake the injury curse that's plagued us the past 4 or 5 years. This Freshman class was top in the B1G and wasn't even close. Next year is when we'll start making a run, however this year our record will be better than people think. The good thing about this Freshman class is, we didn't lose any to the draft for once and very well could have lost at least 1 maybe 2. I'm excited for the season to start! GBR!!

I would think they land somewhere between a 6th & 9th place finish depending on injuries and players development.
Omaha has the B1G baseball tournament the next 4 years..
You sure do have a lot of confidence in this staff actually developing players. Until Erstad figures out what he wants to do offensively I’m afraid the baseball program will be stuck in mediocrity.
Well to be fair, this new class has more big sticks to it than his previous recruiting classes. His past classes have had at most 1 maybe 2 legit sluggers in them. This class has quite a few. This is by far his best overall recruiting class since he became HC. We will see some of those Freshmen in the starting lineup this year as they're too good to not be playing imho.

Noticed that the Huskers have a 4 game series with Oregon St. in Phoenix in Feb. Wife & I will be in that area then - question is: Do we have a chance of a W, or are we going to see a beatdown? It may determine whether or not we attend a game, since it will be a 4 hr round trip.
Well we play 4 ranked teams in 10 games. 4 OSU, 4 UC Riverside and 1 Texas Tech 1 Mississippi St. That's actually pretty brutal stretch that will most definitely shake out the cobwebs out and break in the youngsters.
