The First Husker You Idolized..

I renege - My first idols were Tom Novak and Guy Chamberlain
Novak was listed all conference both off/def by OWH. N. Dame coach praised him.
And as I have said here before, Guy C. was a farm neighbor (1 1/2 miles) and my Dad's idol and friend ( I never saw him play of course)
He gave me rides to and from town.

I can't say that I have ever idolized a husker, but one that made an impression on me was Bill "Thunder" Thornton. On February 18, 1962 he came to our little church in central Nebraska on what was known as Race Relation Sunday, it was some national movement at the time, and talked about race relations and how the football team was composed of different races and the players had to work together to achieve success. That appearance had an impact on me. The following May he came back just to attend a church service.

Harry Wilson. Saw him walking from practice in full pads and have been a fan ever since

I was a little to young for those guys, but dad would also talk about them along with Dennis clarrage,< spelling) he also mentioned that Bobby Reynolds was all they had for his time and basically wore him out by the The he was a senior he said until bob showed up Nebraska football sucked for a couple decades even worse than what we've Witnessed.

I was one of the first on here to say Thunder Thornton, but I’m thrilled that many did... loved him as a player, but loved this story greatly!!

What bowl game was it where Glover slapped Alabama's Johnny Musso on the *** every time he tackled him? Did Wayne Meylan die in his P-51? Appreciate any help on this.
