If they yank the rug out from under Mac nobody is going to want that job. He was a Buff all the way through and probably has done as good of a job as they could hope for in this day and age. Don't care for the way he handled the AM purposeful injury but the guy was one of their own. Interesting.

I feel like the days of nobody wanting a job are over...these guys sign a guaranteed lotto ticket. One of these HC gigs at a power 5 school sets you up for life. The consolation prize is...

1. Doing a great job and getting another contract or getting a bigger contract at a new school (New Lotto Ticket)
2. Doing a bad job and getting canned...and getting paid to not work. Then getting hired on by a friends staff for 150K-800K.

Agree. It would be different if CU had super-high expectations for the program, but they really don't. If the Buffs just don't melt down against a horrible Oregon State team at home and manage to beat Arizona on the road, they would be 7-3 and absolutely nobody would be talking about canning MacIntyre. They still wouldn't be a very good team, but MacIntyre would be safe for at least another year.

Eric Bieniemy is the Chiefs Offensive coord and could be a possibility but he isn’t giving up the coordinator job till KC is out of the playoffs..

Don’t know if the Buffs could afford that with recruiting..
Wow. Good for him.

Not sure if this qualifies or not, but Bill Cubit was the interim coach for Illinois when they beat us in 2015 and was not retained at the end of the season.
Good call... you are close to the right answer too. Think back to earlier that same season.... we lost to Miami at Miami in a nearly empty stadium with "Fire Al Golden" banners flying overhead. We doped our way to a huge deficit before turning Tommy loose and going to overtime. Unfortunately, we turned him too loose and he threw a pick on the first play. Westerkamp led the come back but was on the sidelines on the first play of OT. Anyway.. Golden fired a few weeks later after losing to Clemson 58-0. I'm guessing it would have been right after our game if we completed the comeback

Thank you. The "nobody will take that job if they fire this guy" take is the most baseless thing I see said most often about coaching turnover. There will ALWAYS be somebody who is willing to take those jobs for 6 and 7 figures a year. It's beyond stupid to suggest that coaches won't sign on to make a boatload of money coaching a mid-to-upper-tier P5 school.

You all would take a job taste testing hog ******** for what some of these head coaches get paid. You'd grin and tell people, "Three million bucks buys all the mouthwash you need!"

Agree completely with others about the "Nobody would want that job" train of thought. Maybe Saban or Frost of Hargod, wouldn't want that job, but the line of up and comers who would want it, stretch out the front door and around the corner.

Yeah, that would be it. I hadn't really thought past Bill Cubit and Illinois-I just remember how embarrassing it was to lose to an interim coach. But since he was never given the job on a permanent basis and probably had little chance of being retained barring going on a huge unexpected run, Al Golden would be it since he was the actual head coach at the time and not just an interim.

If you recall during that Illinois game... they run a play thinking it was third down but it was actually forth down. Turnover on downs in their own territory. I don't think we did anything with it. WE LOST TO A COACH WHO LITERALLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT DOWN IT WAS.

Dave is early 60’s now...:maybe too late.
I know. I lived in Colorado from 1990 to 2017, and for every coaching change, Logan's was the first name Irv Brown and Joe Williams brought up on the radio. McCartney retires in 1994: Logan. Neuheisel leaves in 1998: Logan. Barnett ousted in 2005: Logan. Hawkins gone in 2010: Logan. Embree fired two years later: Logan.

Logan would have been a good choice after Neweasel got the boot, but cu had no interest whatsoever in him.

More importantly- what recruits of theirs can we poach? Anybody on their board we were in on at some point? Time to get on the horn if so. Kick 'em when they're down! (insert laughing emoji)

They have a four-star WR from SoCal (Braedin Huffman-Dixon) that Keith Williams offered when he was still coaching at Nebraska. BH-D's other top choice was USC, who also might be looking for a new coach. According to TOS, Walters picked up BH-D's recruiting when Frost was hired, but Huffman-Dixon committed to CU in May.
