Maclntyre is 27-38
Brown I will give you, but it is still a Sun Belt team, even first year coaches at Nebraska should beat them at home.
After the first 2 games where is your confidence that Frost will return Nebraska to greatness. I still think he gets us there. I think it is going to take longer than I was thinking. I think year 1 we are going to be lucky to get 4 wins.

You still think that?! What the hell! He’s won zero games at Nebraska! Didn’t you see that really smart post earlier about coaches that don’t win so many games in their first year and how that means they won’t get much done?

"The thing I most worry about with Frost is his ability to make the game fun for the players. He's a serious dude. Hates to lose. Intense.

Sometimes I look at the overall attitude of Nebraska's teams and it just doesn't seem like the guys are having a lot of fun out there playing a game they are all supposed to love. That seems troubling. It creates tension, leads to mistakes, and teams that play tight don't win close ballgames either."

SoFlo Husker, Scott let them have some fun at UCF. It will take time but we will get there.

Winning is fun. Losing is not. It's that simple. It's not possible to "make the game fun" when you're losing, unless it's a little league baseball team and you take them out for pizza and ice cream afterwards.

Saban is an intense, serious dude - but I'm sure his players are having a blast right now.

I do wonder if some of the tension/team chemistry issues are related to Gebbia and the QB situation. Remember that Gebbia helped recruit a lot of these young guys on the team, then didn't get the job and bailed on them.

SIAP, but i quit reading about 5 posts in.

I said this when Riley was hired and I'll say it again now....

If you want Nebraska to run the Nebraska system of old, you need to hire a coach that runs that system.

Scott Frost does what Scott Frost does. If he was hired simply because he was a successful alum, then they made a mistake.

Some of you sound like the woman married the guy who went out drinking with his buddies all the time and is pissed when he still goes out drinking with his buddies all the time.

I feel the same as I did prior to the season. We knew a rough road was ahead, even with Martinez starting. This offensive system is not going to bloom simply because Frost is at Nebraska. If we’re this bad in 2 or 3 years then I’ll worry but right now I’ll take it for what it is.

Everyone knew this until fall camp hit. Then the media went full bore in expecting great things, big ten title, guys are conditioned better than ever (D wore out rather easily late against Troy) so on & so forth. Now the disappointment is real staring at another lost season. Shouldn't be that way as the lumps are expected typically with a new staff.

UCF fan here. It's just going to take some time his system needs the players that fit it. We were an absolute dumpster fire when he took over we didn't even win a game the year before for chrissakes. He threw Milton in there a few games into the season and we lost some close ones we maybe should have won but once he took the reins look what happened. One thing he's great at is changing culture and keeping players engaged and believing in the team and what they're trying to do.

That's a legitimate concern, but it can be cured by winning. I don't get the sense that Saban is a real fun guy, but Alabama players don't seem to have much trouble getting motivated to play games. Same could be said for the Patriots.

thank you - no one is expecting miracles and he will get years to get this turned around

at UCF he took over a zero win team and won 6 games ... he took over a 4 win team here ... it is not unreasonable to expect 6 wins this year

our hope is that it will be evident in the win-loss column and a bowl game that we are a better team in 2018 as compared to 2017, instead of having to break down film and conclude that although the record might not be significantly better our outside linebacker play on 3rd and 4+ yards is much improved so clearly there has been progress

If your confidence level is less now than it was before, I think you need to take a look at your own expectations. If you had any expectations in terms of W/L this year I think you missed the mark. Championship level programs are built and developed. You cannot patch them together. Building and developing takes time. Talk to me after year 3 about confidence.

Amen! Vanilla offense.

My confidence level in Frost has gone up since the beginning of the year and here are a few reasons why....

I have seen the flashes. I have seen, at times, a defense that can get after the qb with only a 4 man rush. We have linebackers that can fill run holes, protect the flats, and run with running backs out on routes. Our corners are more confident and aggressive, not starting 10-12 yards off the line of scrimmage in soft zone coverage. I have seen what we are capable of doing and it is night and day different from last year.

You can tell when the offense is clicking that they will give every defense they face a headache. When we don't turn the ball over, get holding penalties called on us because we are out of position or start every drive deep in our own territory because of dumb special teams penalties, we can move the ball efficiently and almost at will. We also have the athletes that are able to make one or two people miss to break open plays for 15+ yards.

I think the reason we are seeing more base packages than us fans would like can be directly related to the coaching staff having to pull back the workouts we started with. Some guys just aren't up to speed yet and when that happens you can't be opening up the play book to more difficult plays that require more moving parts. I am as frustrated as anyone but I have seen the potential in the first two games to know we are on the right track. Once we cut back on the mental mistakes and get the right players in place, we are going to do great things.

He needs to recruit and develop. Our Qb depth is bad, we have a stud with an injury-prone history and a lot of question marks behind him. Would feel a lot better if we had another big-time QB commitment, and some solid OL recruits, and some good OLB too (can't run a 3-4 effectively without them). DBs. Look pretty solid at RB though.
You mean, his body is too fragile to withstand someone ILLEGALLY trying to twist his leg off in our 1st game???

I voted the opposite, but my confidence at the beginning of the year may not have been very realistic. When I initially voted, I couldn't even comprehend how a person could vote they were more confident, but you certainly made a good case.

I still can't change my vote though, even if I could. I absolutely did not expect to lose to Troy in the manner we did.

I have confidence that Frost can win 9 games, keep big games close, pop a 10 win season every 3 years...and 11 win season every 5 years. And a championships run every 10 years. That will give him a few chances at the playoff in his remaining 20+ years. I care more whether I like a coach vs. whether the team is winning. I had great disdain for the Solich team because of how his players carried themselves on campus and in public. Their sense of entitlement was nauseating, and they didn't win anything. Solich carried himself the same way, this tiny little napoleon, with major personal problems, who couldn't manage the team. He did not have a tithe of the leadership skills of T.O. I watched maybe 3 games from 1998 to 2003 once I got to know the team. The T.O teams had a different sense of purpose. They may have been jerks, rapists, abusers, but you knew that football was their focus. With the Solich teams the vibe was that they were in it for the notoriety and that having to win was a burden. And it showed. I like Cally, disliked Bo after A@M game in 2011, and couldn't care less about MR. Frost is another level of person, I don't care if he ever wins more than 9 games as long as the team is well put together and a team to be proud of.

Ok you named 1 coach. Congrats you got me. So peak early then chase the dragon for 15+yrs, is that what you are looking for? Guessing that while they remained competitive, it left a bit to be desired. Or at least that is the impression I got from every OU fan I ever spoke to...

Another UCF fan here with some input. It’s kind of funny seeing all the similarities watching Nebraska now with UCF’s first season under Frost. It seems your team has trouble with fumbles, Miltons first game vs Maryland he had SIX total fumbles in a loss in OT. Also I wouldn’t agree with the fun thing either. Frosts main objective was to make football fun again.

Year one of our offense we flat out struggled adapting to the new system. We also lost games we probably shouldn’t have solely due to Frosts clock management and risks he took. He is as advertised, he goes for it all and it’s hit or miss sometimes. In 2017 obviously you saw it was a big hit with Ucf having one of the best offenses and undefeated season.

Honestly the only reason we even won 6 games first season was the due to the defense and who we played. As crazy as it sounds (coming from an 0-12 season),I think the cupboard is more empty at Nebraska than it was at UCF defensively, so I especially expect Nebraska to struggle within the tougher conference. UCFs 2016 team had 6 players in the nfl now, 4/6 on the defense side.
