all those who are blaming bill moos I would like to hear what you would have done don't just sit back and ***** about it let's hear your plan.
Without knowing what they tried, I would have moved the game to an earlier kickoff if I had the power to do so. If TV couldn't have been worked out, then it couldn't have been worked out. I'd have rather played the game for the sake of the team than try to appease a TV audience, the program needed the game.
So I read that the pay out to Akron was $1.7M. Any word on if we still have to pay that out? I would expect a significantly smaller payout since no game was played.
Did your mother have any kids that lived??
Why on earth would you care??? Two million in the UNL budget comes close to a rounding error...........So I read that the pay out to Akron was $1.7M. Any word on if we still have to pay that out? I would expect a significantly smaller payout since no game was played.
Then re-read your post about changing things you can't change.??? not sure what the point of this post is? Was responding to the thread title.

For someone who has portrayed being in charge of the ship, Moos has a disorganized mess on national TV on his record now. He should have gotten out in front of this situation and made sure everyone was kept apprised of what was being discussed. That we are sitting here 14 hours later without any explanations and nothing more than rumor and innuendo of how an announced 1030 am kickoff turned into a cancellation is an embarrassment. I like Moos, but this entire situation was very publically fumbled.
It wasn't a rain delay......it was a lightning delay.Echoing above, leaving 90k people sitting on metal seats in the stands tells me no one was really worried about the weatherIt didn't rain for roughly 2 hours after they went inside.
Ok I get some of that, but what is he supposed to say during a lightning delay? What does a 10:30am press release have to do with a weather event at 7:15pm? It's never happened before, a complete game cancellation.Moos does not control Fox but does control the staff who put out the 1030 am kickoff information to Fox. Moos also had the ability to talk to the press during the lightning delay and then after the delay last night in order to explain how and why the game was cancelled and where the confusion was created. It appeared (and appears) that no one was at the wheel.
I think he's talking about whoever leaked info to people during the weather day that they were playing at 10:30 AM and then it turned out wrong.Ok I get some of that, but what is he supposed to say during a lightning delay? Cool, my bad....I think he's talking about whoever leaked info to people during the weather day that they were playing at 10:30 AM and then it turned out wrong.
Agree 100% I mentioned that since the forecast hadn't wavered much since Wednesday were it was a real good chance of thunderstorms last night would have moved the kickoff to 1:30 2:30 everyone could have made arrangements for earlier kickoffI'm sure that finding 50+ hotel rooms and food for 100+ players/coaches/support staff was a huge logistical nightmare. Not to mention the fact that since the cancellation was announced at around 11, they probably wouldn't have gotten settled into their hotel and been fed until 1 or 2 AM and then would have probably had to wake up at 5 or 6 AM if they would have played at 10:30. That's not good either. I guess they could have given them concession stand food since I'm sure there was a lot left. Haha.
My biggest issue is that there wasn't some sort of contingency planned in the week leading up to this since there was talk of this possibly happening all week. I wish they could have moved the game to 1 or 2, but I'm sure TV dictated that they couldn't.

Can't disagree on that one, beer and boobsI would have had a couple beers… And totally enjoyed the worlds all time largest and best wet T-shirt contest!
Go Big Red!
Congrats on moving that big rock..!!!!screw TV, they could show it on delay in the regular time slot or as they did, just show the Baylor game locally anyway - they had content either damn way.....player and fan safety first, but get the game played

To piggyback on this, there was talk last night of playing the game at 10:30am today on FS1 with regular Fox re-airing it tonight at 9:30pm. If that was on the table, and given that the threat of severe weather for last night was consistent since the middle of the week, announce on Thursday or early Friday that the game is being moved up early- to mid-afternoon and cut a deal with Fox to air it in its scheduled time slot.Agree 100% I mentioned that since the forecast hadn't wavered much since Wednesday were it was a real good chance of thunderstorms last night would have moved the kickoff to 1:30 2:30 everyone could have made arrangements for earlier kickoff

This. As much as I have liked Moos, his handling of this was terrible last night. Forget me sitting in my Lazy Boy at home waiting for it to start, the game was cancelled right when the high winds and hail were reaching the stadium area... with plenty of warning it was coming. They let the fans stay out there how long before the university said they had to take shelter? For someone who has portrayed being in charge of the ship, Moos has a disorganized mess on national TV on his record now. I think the idea of moving the game to earlier in the day has merit. Schools and the NFL have moved game times before due to the threat of bad weather. Since people were speculating early in the week that severe weather was likely on Saturday night, it seems there was time to organize a time-change. I suspect that the Fox Television Network would have objected, which may be why that idea was not pursued.

I'm curious how long information was sat on or how disorganized it actually was. It went from "we're going to keep delaying it" for several hours to "we'll play it in the morning" at about 10:15/10:30 (?), and then in very short order "it's cancelled, Akron is heading to the airport."
Pretty easy in my opinion. Have a contingency plan ready and that contingency plan could have consisted of playing Sunday morning.all those who are blaming bill moos I would like to hear what you would have done don't just sit back and ***** about it let's hear your plan.
I'm guessing he's commenting on your screen name.I am. What do you mean?
Here is what I would do today..,
Out of respect for everyone involved with the game last night, the athletic department needs to hold a press conference today explaining the events from yesterday and their plans about possibly rescheduling the game.
