Suspension spanning the first offensive series against Adams College since Stan Gable and Ogre are out for the year.
Did the OSU fans ‘light torches’ after Tressel was fired? That’s a legit question that I don’t remember. But point being, if there is cause, I don’t think the fans would act any differently than they did when JT was fired, as he also was a NC winning coach.tOSU has a couple BIG hurdles to pass before they could fire Urb. Procedure/policy states that IF he reported the domestic abuse to his superior that he should take no further action. That is a truck load of burden that the university has to clear to fire with cause. If they fire without cause, they are on the hook for 8mil a year which I cannot see happening, especially with his success.
#2 is if they fire him with/ or without cause, the fans and donors will be lighting torches due to his winning. If he had the record of Maryland's programs, he would have been fired already. They will lose a lot of money, more, if they get rid of him, than if they keep him. Money drives this decision in all cases.
At this point, IF Urban reported it, as has been reported and as he was supposed to, and the AD didn't do anything with it, then the AD is gone. This is the same AD that when the Tressel/tattoo stuff was happening was quoted as saying, "I'm not concerned about having to fire Jim Tressel, I'm concerned about Jim Tressel firing me..." With the wrestling issue, this issue, and the tattoo issue years ago, Smith will be gone.
If UM keeps his job, then he'll have to spend the rest of his career answering why he kept an alleged domestic abuser on his staff for years, at two different coaching stops, despite the fact that he could have fired him at any moment and had pretty much the pick of whoever he wanted to replace him.
I think he will have to answer this question no matter what happens or where he goesAt this point, IF Urban reported it, as has been reported and as he was supposed to, and the AD didn't do anything with it, then the AD is gone. Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.

I'm pretty sure that the fact-finding commission that tOSU has deployed to get to the bottom of all this is headed up by Stan Gable and Miss Betty Childs.
I think I heard last week that the time line was to hopefully have the investigation done by the end of the week. Then it would take a day or two to get report written and reviewed. Then they would report to the university leadership who then would share it with regents which upon that time decide what action to take.Maybe I am naive, but I don't think you schedule a meeting 2 days out to fire someone. In today's world there will be a leak and the news will be out before then.
With that said, Meyer may resign, forced or otherwise, but if he resigns, he is going to get paid.
I’m indifferent about Meyer getting fired. I feel like most that want him fired simply want to see OSU fall. Screw that. I want OSU to be competing for national championships. And then I want Frost to go beat them. Not saying I think Frost will for sure win titles but ultimately that’s the goal and OSU falling off after firing Meyer ultimately doesn’t change where we want to be.
Exactly. Any day we beat the bucknuts is cause for celebration. They are 4* and 5* deep at every position except kicker.C'mon. When the day comes that a Frost team beats tOSU, we're not going to give a crap about who was coaching them. If Meyer's tacit approval or lack of action did indeed empower a wife-beating sociopath, then no one should lose a wink of sleep if he gets canned.

So yes, I think Wednesday is pretty plausible and on schedule.
Not sure I agree with that. I, for one, have issues with a guy that has a wife-beating butt nugget on his staff not once, but twice. It speaks volumes about UM as a person. There are actually things to care about outside of playing them in a game.I’m indifferent about Meyer getting fired. I feel like most that want him fired simply want to see OSU fall. Screw that. Fondling little boys wasnt explicity breaking the rules either yet PSU was sanctioned. Before they got unsactioned due to good behavior or some BS.See that's true too. The severity of the crime here is worse, though it doesn't explicitly violate NCAA rules. And more comes out about that guy every day it seems like. He was a real nutbag and piece of **** to his wife. And UM knew about it the whoooole time.
Remember, there has, at the very least, been a Title 9 violation, plus a lot of spinning and cover-up.
Depends on where the investigation goes and what they actually investigate. Will it be the domestic abuse only or all of the other things. The excuse of plausible deniability doesn't work when things are done at the stadium or occurs with large numbers of players. If things are done at the stadium like filming a porn, buying 2k worth of sex toys it shows a lack of institutional control over the people you hire. UM was in charge of hiring assistants and signing players, he is therefore directly responsible for their behavior at the stadium during work hours. Things that happen on recruiting trips and in lockers rooms also fall to the coach. Things that happen in private at coach and player homes is much more difficult. Urban will be fired if the report from the weekend is true about the sex toys and white house behavior, if the decision is based off of Smith's incidents with his wife only, I think he keeps his job.
Understand what you are saying. Just saying what the anticipated timeline was and it seems pretty close to what they predicted. It appears as if Wednesday is going to be Dday unless something new has developed today. If the investigation is complete, they would have had some sort of preliminary finding meeting with university leadership. No one is in the dark in this thing. If there was a smoking gun, and they could fire Meyer with cause, there is no need for a the extra days. If there isn’t a smoking gun but there is reasonable evidence to fire without cause, they could be negotiating a buyout. Or there is nothing going to happen so they are figuring out how to spin it positively and get Smith to fall on the sword.
The outcry was as bad as it was ever going to get two or three weeks ago when this first came out and Meyer was put on administrative leave. Putting him on leave gave outsiders and the people who hate OSU and Meyer a chance to pounce on the opportunity to get him fired. That's why no matter what decision is made, public opinion will be a 100x quieter than when this first came out.He stays, and the outcry isn't going to be as large as everyone thinks.

Next thing you know we’ll have bush. But, on the bright side, Booger has been combing the high schools all day.I'm pretty sure that the fact-finding commission that tOSU has deployed to get to the bottom of all this is headed up by Stan Gable and Miss Betty Childs.
Zach Smith did things to Betty no one has ever done before.Next thing you know we’ll have bush. But, on the bright side, Booger has been combing the high schools all day.
I've been telling you guys from the 2nd day on that Urban wasn't going anywhere. They started the spin control the day after this broke. His paid leave was just a cool off period to let the news cycle die down. Just like at MSU, Urban isn't going anywhere. This would not be a shocking outcome at all.
. He’s suffered enough! LaughingLaughing
Hide your kids hide your wives, the B1G and tOSU put football over everything.
They will canonize him eventually. Saint Urban.. He’s suffered enough! LaughingLaughing
