No Sedrick King or Quayshon Alexander
injured? IF I were a veteran player who had a pretty good handle on the defense, I wouldn't shed too many tears at being left off the fall 110..... Practice? We're talking about practice? IF I were their coach, I would tell them "we're confident in your knowledge of the system. We need to get some of these new players up to speed so we're going to leave you off but we want you attending and taking mental reps because we're going to need you to play". On the other hand, there may be a message being sent.

Glad to see Damian Jackson on there. Heard he was trying his hand at longsnapping as well.

Everything on Offense is alphabetical except Quarterbacks. Gebbia listed at the top! He's our number 1.

Frost said Sedrick was very limited in the spring with injuries. Not sure if that is the reason he's not on the roster, though. Don't know about Quay.

Yep, that's gotta be it. It's definitely the one time he tweeted about pizza rolls. 100% fact that any college kid who ever consumed pizza rolls never amounted to ****.
Did you see Duval responded to his tweet? The staff said they were going to check every recruit's twitter, anything social media related. Through the transitive property, that goes for players, too.

Yeah man if Duval saw that he had eaten pizza rolls by 10:11 am I bet they kicked him off the team then and there. Just can't have that kind of thing, there aren't any hours in the day left to work out or do 7-on-7 and he certainly couldn't have been exaggerating anything for comedic effect.

Maybe he didn't make the 110, but to dredge through the kid's twitter and find one thing about pizza rolls and be like, "BET IT'S BECAUSE HE'S LAZY BECAUSE ONE TIME HE SAID THIS" is just next-level dumb.

This is coming from a guy who doesn’t use twitter, but I’m also guessing Duval isn’t responding if the kid is an everyday ***-kicker.

No, he isn't. He still hasn't been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Word is that they flagged his ACT scores for review. Supposedly he got a 27 his first try and 25 on his next try.

Why would he take it again if he got a 27 the first time?

I assume he took it again to get better than a 27! ;)

I think the question is for what purpose? If he scored a 27, he would have qualified as long as the GPA was 2.3. Getting a better score has no benefit to him, that score gets him into UNL, he isn't competing or an academic scholarship, so there is not a need for a higher score there.

IF he scored a 27 and someone told him to retake, and IF getting a 25 is what got him flagged, he got bad advice. IMHO

Funny business suspected? People that struggle with grades usually dont pull off a 27 first time out if at all.

It doesn't make sense on the assumption that his goal was to qualify--I am not taking that for granted--though I have no idea what his goals were in taking test.

Getting a 25 after getting a 27 is not uncommon. I took the ACT three times and got in order: my worst score, my best score, and a score between the two. For the purposes of qualifying I would think that only the best score matters.

I suspect the issue has more to do with what SeaOfRed brought up, i.e., the scores are wildly inconsistent with his GPA, raising the issue of whether he took the test and scrutinizing the conditions under which it was taken.

Disagree on this. There are some really intelligent people who score well on standardized tests that don't put in the effort consistently to earn a high GPA. Had a couple high school classmates back in the day who did this: 2.2-2.8 GPA range, but scored 29-33 on the ACT.

Edit: They ended up with good to great scholarships based on test scores, one got it in gear in college and did well, the other not so much, lost his scholarship, and dropped out.

Agree to a point. 33 is QUITE good. You almost have to try to **** up to get a 2ish gpa with smarts like that.

This particular guy was addicted to video games: GTA San Andreas, then Halo, then World of Warcraft. Would always be able to contribute positively in classes because he had the smarts, but severely lacked discipline when his time wasn't structured and wouldn't do homework or study for tests.

He's in the Air Force now and doing really well. But man, in college, he was the guy who would sit in his dorm room, block out all the light, and play World of Warcraft to his heart's content and not know what day it was.

Exactly! Why they would be suspicious of a 25 on the heels of a 27 is beyond illogical. An 18 or 19 might raise a red flag, but causing this kid all of this uncertainty is just ********! If anything, a 25 after a 27 would confirm that his scores are legit.

I agree, they have to be questioning the legitimacy of both scores after seeing his GPA, and not one ACT score as compared to the other.

Yep. I got a nice ACT score but my high school GPA was just kinda decent. NU was going to give me some sort of "you're in the honors program but not really but you can be based on your test scores but not your GPA" type of situation.

Let me tell you it's SUPER EASY to fail classes even if you're super smart and can ace tests, all you need is heavily-graded homework that you don't do. I didn't have my **** together with my ADHD and I've failed plenty of classes even though tests were always very easy for me. I was on academic probation one year and dean's list another. It's way easier to fail classes than it is to pass them, it literally requires no effort to get an F.

My ACT was very good, grades not very good. It was a combination of the bars in Council Bluffs being age 18 back then, no pictures on driver's licenses, and a buddy two years older same height/weight/eyes as me getting a new license and giving me his old one. Burning up the disco dance floor at the Joker every night didn't leave much time for the books.

This is me too. I can test like a champ. I hate doing anything for school outside of school. I have better things to do with my time.

I had horrid grades because of homework. I did one piece of homework in highschool, make a homemade boat propel across water...that was fun!

In college I did do homework though. Hated that too.
