Sneaky good film. Doesn't blow your hair back with feats of raw athleticism, but keep watching and you will see him show up in the right place, under control, making a clean tackle. Over and over. Suggests to me a smart player and a technician.
I'm guessing strong side OLB, maybe even ILB. He doesn't look like a sack artist on his tape. Love his eye discipline, lots of plays on his film of him not getting fooled. Uses his hands well and sheds blocks, blows up runs in the backfield. Must be stronger and harder hitting than he looks based on how he blows some guys up on a few plays.
Really stays home and sticks to his assignment, which is very underrated. Seems to anticipate cutbacks. Friend of mine made the comparison to Barrett Ruud and I think it's a good one. Not a guy you go, "Wow, what a physical freak!" but there he is making the tackle time and again.

This getting top notch guys early thing is simply not going to work for me because I do not have any time to overhype them and to chew my nails down to the cuticles.
I think the best part of this is I'm sure each of these guys knows this year probably won't be the best this program can be. But they are seeing what the future will bring and how they can be a part of it. You don't sit back and say "man if we don't win 10 games we're going to lose all these kids" like you have in the past. It's refreshing honestly.
Funny how when it's a 4* kid with a laundry list of SEC offers including Bama and LSU nobody thinks recruiting services are a bunch of liars. That logic only shows up when we beat out Air Force for some 5.2 3*

I love this pick up, just a day or two ago I was thinking “man I love this kids size already, his video tapes and the simple fact he’s a 4 star LB”. “I really hope we get this young man”. And bam, we got him. LB seems to be one of those areas where we struggled to get those 4 star or better players constantly, so seeing this already is a huge plus. Now if we can start pulling in those 4 star or better Pass rush DEs, I’d be stoked.
Great pickup, pulling a guy from the South with those offers is not easy, well done.
what I really like is that when he is on the end, he contains. No one got outside of him, at least on the plays that are in his film. I can't tell you how many times I have screamed at the t.v. over the past several years when our DE's repeatedly failed to contain and the play goes outside for 10, 15 20 yards or more.
He seems like a Ben Stille type player just in a ILB body & skill set. Same attitude and similar in personality. I think this one is a HOME RUN!

Good offer list for this kid. Hope we can get Henrich too, but it seems like Notre Dame is in the lead right now.
