But wait we are told Nebraska can't do anything because we are not in a fertile recruiting ground, and we are unable to leave locally to get players.

I expect that a couple of our recruits will be bumped up as their football season unfolds. In particular, Grayson won't be a two star for long. I'd guess he will eventually be re-ranked as a mid to upper 3 star. Luke McCaffrey could get bumped to a 4-star now that he is the starting QB for a powerhouse team. He has not had much of a chance to showcase his abilities as QB at this point.
