My biggest frustration is the retirees that get up at 6am and drive 10-20 below speed limit, I feel like they do it on purpose. They also get super mad when you pass them.

My biggest annoyance is when I'm walking, and I wait at an intersection for the light to change so I get the WALK signal. I take a quick look to make sure the traffic has cleared, start to cross the street, and here comes some self-important ******* who's making a right turn (or a left off a one-way) and can't possibly wait 8 seconds for pedestrians to get out of his way. Other than just being a complete jackass, what possesses someone to tromp on the gas pedal in this situation?

There is no speed limit in Austin. The police never set up speed traps, so the speed limit signs are just a suggestion. People in my area average about 15 over the limit, even on residential streets. People resort to putting out flags and warning signs when their kids are riding bikes. Even if you're going 15 over, people still ride your bumper like you're towing them with a short rope. People pass in turn lanes, exit lanes, bike lanes, and on the shoulder. They don't know how to handle four-way stops. No one uses a signal. Red lights have become yellow lights, I routinely see three cars go through a red before someone stops (they installed red light cameras, but they were all removed due to public outcry). People do four-lane lane changes to enter/exit a freeway. People pulling out onto a busy street will try to cross four lanes of gridlock traffic, blocking 2-3 lanes in the process, rather than pull into the nearest lane. Drivers jump the double-white lines on a ramp to try to get ahead of the drivers in front of them, then get all pissed off when those drivers follow the law. Everybody is staring at their phones non-stop despite it being illegal.

In the last four years we've had a car totaled in a hit-and-run, another totaled by a texting teenager, and a third damaged by a GPS distracted driver (she tried to take a right turn from the middle lane right into me). You REALLY have to drive defensively here.

I hope everyone in your family wasn’t hurt. Maybe it is time to consider moving? Winking

Suprised I haven't seen either of these

Obvious line in the correct lane at a bottleneck and some ******* cuts the line expecting someone at the bottleneck to let them in.

Left turners who can't wait another light cycle so they bast through the red light.

I think they have all probably been said but just in case:
Turn signals are merely an option on cars, it is required that we are all mind readers now days. You have to guess what the guy is going to do.

I guess all those rules about open intersections, who is there first has right away unless it is a tie and then it is the person to the right, etc are no longer taught. Most people don't even bother to look and speed right through open intersections, it is amazing there aren't more accidents.

Just loather LL'ers or the L on the forehead symbol. Those are what my wife and I call Left Laners. In KS it is illegal to drive in the left lane except to pass. At least Oklahoma has signs all over the place warning you. I will intentionally follow them for miles and then pass on the right and we start them down and give them the get over signal.

People that turn into the wrong lane. That just happened to me a few minutes ago as I headed to Lowes, came around a corner and had about a mile to get into the left lane. The guy behind me was on my bumper for about 15 blocks as I was going slightly over the speed limit and didn't bother to stop at the stop sign behind me and he turned right into the outer lane while I had my signal on to move over. Needless to say, he slowed down for me.

What is with these people that have to turn left before they can turn right? If I am beside them in a four lane all of the sudden they are coming at my right side so I am thinking this nut is going to hit me, naw, they are just setting up to turn right and need to take a wider arc. One time I was following a person in the right lane and I thought he was moving over into the left lane, no signal of course, but NOOOO he was actually setting up to make a right handed turn. The highways and roads are just not wide enough for some of these people.

Stops signs are a waste of tax payer money.

You are an idiot if you pull out into a busy intersection even if you have a green light. There is assuredly going to be a bozo who runs the red light because after all it was yellow sometime before he got there.

The one that really frosts my nads is when I am going down the interstate or a busier street going at least the speed limit and they pass me only to hit the breaks and then turn or exit. Its not like they could not have just stayed behind me for another 50 feet while I am already going a little over the limit. Now I slam on the breaks to keep from hitting the yo yo.

As was mentioned the person who flies down the open lane of traffic when traffic is backed up because of an accident or something. Then they expect some caring soul to let them in.

With what I now do during the day I am all over Salina, KS, pop about 50,000 but a central hub for people to come to. Nearly everyday someone sits in front of me or beside me looking at their phone and miss the light when it is green. I come up behind people who are all over the place and pull along side them and they are looking down at their phone. I can't understand what is so danged important on the phone.

Yep, tailgating with where to go. I think bad driving habits are passed down.

Agree with some on here, but will add.
Cant stand people that go under the speed limit on a highway, then get to a town and go through the 40, 35, or 25 at least 10 mph over the speed limit.
Hey idiots, in town is when you will have pedestrians, kids, people turning. If there is ever a time to drive the speed limit and not at least 5 over, its there.
Also today had a car in front going 55 in a 60 and about ran into oncoming traffic twice. Later had to honk at some punk coming the other way who put me halfway in the shoulder because he was obviously looking at his phone. Texting needs to be primary offense.

Obviously several in this thread (and most drivers) don’t understand how to merge 2 lanes into one, you should be using both lanes, leaving space and maintaining flow. Merging at the first sign and then fighting people who know how it is supposed to work is the issue.

When the arrow turns green, feel free to go. Dont wait 10 seconds before you do. The green arrow is designed for more than one person to be able to turn.

Also, on ramps to I80 dont have yield signs and they damn sure dont have stop signs. They are “ON” ramps. They arent slow down and stop ramps.

4WD drive guy going 90 on the interstate when its covered with snow and ice. I enjoy seeing your *** in the ditch 5 miles later.

I80 has 3 lanes. The left lane isnt reserved for your Ford Fiesta pulling a uhaul trailer at 50mph.

Its a TURN SIGNAL. Its not a DRIVE STRAIGHT FOR 9 MILES signal.

Finally, your music sucks. I dont need to hear it , much less feel it, at every intersection. You aren't so important that I need to know what you are listening too. I dont care. No one does. Enjoy your hearing aids at 40 though. And get off my lawn.

What kind of music do you listen to

In Dallas when a car ahead of me is drifting over the line, I assume they're texting or reading their cell phone. Sure enough when I pass them and look over, more times than not that's what they're doing.

Happened to me yesterday. Laid on the horn and the guy swerved back over. As I passed him, he had his phone in his hand. After I passed him, I looked back through my rearview mirror, and his head was down and his truck was drifting into another lane again.

Exactly. 156 and W Dodge NB has this issue. Everyone thinks they need to be in the left lane because the lanes merge into one just north of Pepperwood. So it just backs up and then you can't get on 156 from Dodge. Get in the right lane people and merge after the light. Zipper people!

I knew a guy in college that drove 55 on the inerstate because he claimed that was the best speed for getting the best mpg in his little car.

It grinds my gears when people do stupid stuff like that and disrupt the flow of traffic.

I see cars whip over in front of a semi all the time only to slow down fast so they can turn. How stupid are people that they don't know trucks cannot stop on a dime?

Even if they could stop on a dime, why cut someone off? Did you not know you were going to turn anf that younshould have gotten in that lane sooner?

When drivers are ridin' dirty and they don't follow rules of the road. Taking a felony drug charge for not using a turn signal is as dumb as a human can get.

I get frustrated with this too but then I usually think to myself- why am I getting pissed at someone because they won't break the law. Really wish they would move into the right lane however so that I can continue to break the law.

Actually the left lane is for passing and turning only, driving at length in the left lane is also breaking the law.

The thing that bothers me the most lately is on a four lane highway, people who feel like the space between me and the car in front of me has been made for them to jam their cars into after they pass. It's sad when inferior drivers are in a hurry because they make the roads more dangerous for everyone.

COLLEGE STUDENTS!!! esp ones who have no idea of how to drive/pass cars on a 2 lane highway without killing themselves or others. Sadly, this happens almost every year, esp during winter break and at the end of the year. I frequently find myself driving the opposite way and you really have to be ready in case a car (going the opposite way) is in your lane because they don't know how to pass.

When you could fit a semi between two cars turning on a green arrow. Instead of 6 of us making it through the light, we only get 4. Thanks idiot!

People that pull out in front of you and then slow you down. They were in such a hurry to get into traffic then act like they are driving on ice.

People that turn left in a turning lane but are 10 feet from the median so its difficult to see around them when I am turning left from the other direction. Gun it and hope I don't get t-boned.

Actually, that is what is supposed to happen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merge_(traffic)

It’s how it’s supposed to work in theory. In practice, gunning it up to the front of the merge lane just makes you look like an ***. Being technically correct doesn’t change this.

Best approach is to stay in the merge lane, but move at the (usually slow) speed of the lane you’re going to join. This way you avoid stacking up the lane before necessary, but don’t make everybody mad. I find that usually with this approach someone will make some space before the end of the lane.

Another, people with heads down reading phones at stoplights and don't notice lights turned green get immediate horn.

Conversely, people who lay on the horn immediately if you aren’t already rolling forward when the light turns green. It was an epidemic when I lived in Michigan. Don’t you dare look out the window or look at your passenger/kid in the back seat at a red light. Apparently it’s required to stare down the stop light like it’s Mario Cart.

I drive home on I35 in KC every day, and it’s usually a nightmare of people swerving between lanes trying to get into the “fastest” one at the moment, blocking merges and lane changes because they’re too petty to let someone “beat” them, and so on. Chill out people. I’m eager to get home too, but it’s about getting everyone to their destination in one piece, not shaving every possible second off your commute.

I'm surprised no one has yet to mention the most obvious driving irritation. Anyone who is driving a car with 11, 12, or 13 county license plates.

My favorite is people who have to pass you in order to slow down.

Pull my boat up to Lake Erie just about every weekend in the summer.

Beautiful, flat, 4 lane divided highway. Easy pull. Little traffic.

Speed limit's 65. I set my cruise at 70 and go. It's about 50 miles. Without being cut off by traffic my truck never even has to shift during the pull up once the cruise is set.

The following situation occurs EVERY trip up or back: someone passes me in the left lane (like they're supposed to), goes around, moves over to the right lane, and proceeds to slow down. I haven't budged one mph off my cruise. Usually not a car in sight ahead of us anywhere.

So I get to pass them pulling a boat.

About half the time, they speed up after I have moved over into the left lane and start to go around them.

Usually that results in me moving back over into the right hand lane, maintaining my speed, and then ultimately passing them anyway 3-4 miles later when they have forgotten that they didn't want to be passed by a boat and have slowed back down again for no apparent reason. Sometimes I get the privilege of passing the same vehicle 2 or 3 times on the same trip without ever coming off my 70 mph cruise.

About 3 years ago, I noticed that it happens at least once per trip, and my kids started playing a game with it. They try to pick out which car passing me in the left hand lane will be the one to come over in the right lane and slow down. They each only get one guess, so they have to choose wisely. Winner gets to reel in the first fish.

Definitely a first world problem, but it's kind of a symptom of many of the problems posted here (and is not only limited to driving): total and complete oblivion to what is going on around you.

Tailgaters are always annoying, but never more so than when they know you have absolutely nowhere to move. I was on I-80 the other day and came up behind one of those dreaded pairs of semis - one in the right lane going 65 mph and one next to it in the left lane going 65.1 mph. So I get behind the "faster" truck and wait for it to finally get around the slower one - because, what else can you do? But while I'm there another truck comes barreling up behind me and rides my bumper. He can clearly see the truck ahead of me and the truck beside me, so he knows I cannot speed up and cannot move over. And yet there he is, six inches off my bumper, as if that's somehow going to help him get where he's going any faster.

Even worse is when people sit there at the light in a right turn lane and wait until the light turns green. I've been behind one of these people probably on a monthly basis at the eastbound/turning south lane at 120th and L in Omaha, but this happened three times this last week (twice they were on their phone).

Don't even get me started on 120th & L. Northbound on 120th, turning right to go East on L, there's a 25% chance a car will come to a complete stop instead of accelerating and merging like a driver is supposed to. No stop sign, no yield sign. Omaha could flunk out a bunch of driver's testers on this intersection alone.

People that slowly roll off at a newly turned green light and finally bring it up to speed a block later. There is no law against pressing the gas hard (w/o tire squeal) to get to speed limit as quickly as possible. They act like they have all the time in the world. Slackers.
I agree. But my car insurance company and their BS phone app dock me discount points for "quick acceleration", as if I'm going to just go without looking for red light runners (99.9% of the time I'm up against a turn arrow directly in front of me anyway, making it insanely easy to tell who's going to run it and who isn't.) /End rant.

And while we're talking about 120th & L, the OPD could make a killing just in that spot ticketing people for running the red.
