True. So edit to say that if he doesn't want to redshirt, he won't redshirt.
Winner winner!

POB would be my guess.If Martinez wins the top job or the backup, he will not RS. The competition for this spot will be fierce over the next couple of years. AM, Vedral, TG and POB. It appears the staff will look to recruit a strong QB in the next cycle as well.
Someone is going to transfer, probably either TG or POB.
Correct. A Freshman’s ability, coachability, potential, position, depth at the position, competition, etc are all factors to take into account in redshirt decisions. Team chemistry, player maturity, long and short term goals of the player and the team are also considerations, in addition to future recruit perceptions. I don’t think it is normally as simple as saying player X is a top 100 recruit and he doesn’t want to redshirt, so he won’t, as some on here have indicated. I think it is a much more individualized decision. And since there is a fair amount of subjectivity involved in many of these factors, I don’t think it is unreasonable for people to question whether a redshirt/nonredshirt decision was or is appropriate.If Martinez wins the top job or the backup, he will not RS. Yeah and great job;
- Dabo Swinney on Tee Higgins (#2 WR)
- Urban Myer on Trevon Grims (#4 WR)
- Jimbo Fisher on DJ Matthews (#5 WR)
- Nick Saban on DeVonta Smith (#6 WR)
- Clay Helton on Joseph Lewis (#7 WR)
That year wasn't wasted. We were short on WR depth and needed him to play. HE will benefit from having a year under his belt and so will we.Waste a top 100 players eligibility when he isn't any better than the upperclassmen currently.....
How is his recovery progressing?Lindsay will be just fine. Also, from what I have heard, McQuitty is player we should be VERY excited to see on the field next fall.
I tend to agree he will benefit, however, he didn't show me much in 2017 and consider it a wasted redshirt opportunity, thanks again Riley! ...

The obvious answer would be in the description of "upper classman" who obviously wouldn't be around in his 5th year. But I think you already knew that and just wanted to argue.Well if he is no better, why do you want him around for a 5th year?
