Looks like 450 plus the bar in those photos. I assume that's as lot for 10 reps.
Close to 500 lbs 10X! Yikes!

To be fair, didn't he have a nagging foot injury? There is much more accountability with the players now. Guys like David Knevel can no longer go through the motions. And yes, they are working much harder on the weights than in the Riley regime.

Is it just me, or does it seem information about winter conditioning is WAY more hush-hush than in years past? If so, either the players were asked to keep a lid on it, they don't like it so don't say much about it, or are too tired to tweet.
Wasn't Brock Pasteur from the '05 class rumored to have squatted 800lbs? I don't believe he ever saw the field.
Serious question for anyone who might know. Are they okay with not going parallel for this circuit?

As I have stated before, I had felt we should have given MR another year. With the information we have now regarding every aspect of the Football Program, Thank God we didn't.Really looks like the kids are working hard and doing their best for HCSF. Keep up the good work!
I definitely don't know, but at least he isn't part of the "Quarter Squat Gang".Serious question for anyone who might know. Are they okay with not going parallel for this circuit?

Despite what most would think... The parallel squat is an arbitrary standard developed by powerlifters for powerlifters. It's not necessarily best for everyone. But even if he was just doing overloaded quarter or half squats (which he wasn't), that would still be useful lift to develop the quads which Olympic powerlifters and body builders do use in their regimen.
Considering this is the head strength coach's Twitter account, I have to believe they are doing quarter squats purposely. It's a supplemental lift, and I have heard it called the "sprinter's squat" before. You can go much heavier and mimic the leg motion you have during a sprint or a jump.
RollingLaugh. And I was feeling pretty damn good about myself on leg day Friday with 3×10 @ 305. Lol.
Well said! You are what your record says you are and if anything, those Huskers may have been worse. Time to shut up and work.Talk is cheap and based on recent performance, we should have nothing to say...
I see it the other way around. I don't recall any where near the interest level of offseason strength training in the past years like this one if I'm being honest. Public comments indicate we need to improve greatly in the weight room and overall effort. I'm very confident the current coaches (and players) are trying for major improvement currently.
GBR
And there it is...the humblebrag. The athletes on the board have been quiet for far too long!
Huh? How is that a brag in any way? Because I pointed out the fact that I am damn near my full body weight plus what I was squatting under what was being repped there.
Sneaking it in again...I love it!

Not sure if it was him, but I remember hearing a player then bragging about doing an 800+ lb leg press, but then couldn't squat 400 when he got in the weight room. I think Vrzal was talking about it last week.
Anyone remember hearing who that was or who they were talking about for sure?
No humble brag here, but an 800lb leg press isn't that impressive if you are someone that is reasonably strong and works legs on a regular basis.
If a person can Squat 405, they should probably be up around 1,200 on leg press . If someone is maxing out at 800 on leg press, they probably aren't getting anywhere near 300 on squat.
Agreed . I would never bad-mouth a player, but that is straight clown show if he was doing/saying that. I'm confident that every football lifting program incorporates squat over any form of the other machine.Agreed, I was just saying that I guess there was a former player bragging about 800+ (multiple...multiple reps, not max) and then could not get around like 400 even once. I think it was Vrzal that was talking about it last week. My bad, should have clarified.
Plus, I do not really use the press. For one, it tears up my lower back for some reason....and for another, I think it is worthless.
