I'd love if Nebraska had the chance to play any of the teams ahead of them. Nebraska (in my opinion) is every bit as good as those teams, probably better. They had a bad situation in that the top 3 teams in the conference all happened to be games fairly early in the season (sans Ohio State) and on the road. If any one of those teams were playing in the Vault now, I'd give Nebraska more than a puncher's chance of winning.
This team needs to keep its edge, because while all four of these final games are winnable, they are also games that can be lost. Maryland is no slouch. Penn State is playing at a much higher level now that the whole team is healthy. Any game on the road takes work. And Indiana has some athletes on their team.
If they finish the regular season with nine straight wins, I'd certainly be disappointed if they were left out. I know criteria changes each year, but the committee used to always look at teams who were playing well down the stretch. You can't play much better than winning the final nine.
