So basically everyone is back from last year and they will finally be coached how to play the game. Coupled with some Junior College guys, I think this team could be better than a 5 or 6 win team. Hell they were better than a 4 win team this year, imo. They should have won at least 8 this year, if they had better coaching.Pretty early to know some positions due to change in offensive scheme, esp QB, but here are the basic people at each position with a little bit of my opinion...

do it
He was safety under the old staff. Is jo jo gonna be a safety or an OLB?
If Davison has any say, the kid will be gone.Where is Jackson in the secondary? You think he will transfer? Or is he just going to be low on the depth chart?
The dead guy from Weekend at Bernies should be ahead of him tooChris Walker ahead of Gates?

Notes:
QB - I don't think anyone knows who might end up starting until at least halfway through spring practice. This will be some damn good competition to watch. At least everyone will be practicing their a$$es off in the spring trying to earn it.
RB - Multiple backs will play in Frost's system and get a lot of carries. Probably doesn't matter who starts as they reps will be shared quite a bit. IMO, the speed backs will be on the field sooner and end up being the ones making the leaps to the top of the depth chart.
WR - I placed the previous players based on the 2017 Iowa game depth chart positions. Who knows if Frost's receivers will adjust positions in his offense vs what Langsdorf ran. I bet we will see 3 more WRs added on NSD in February, especially with the comments that Frost made on the radio regarding WR numbers.
OL - I bet a lot of younger kids get a shot. I could see plenty of younger guys overtaking the old starters. Hopefully it will be true competition and push all players to get better. The OL definitely looks like it will change how it blocks in Frost's offense compared to Langsdorf's. Maybe the old starters will surprise us with the best addition by subtraction this school has ever had (Coach Cav).
DL - I could see this adjusting quite a bit based on the new staff. Who knows where these players will even end up.
LB - Who knows where some of the OLB and DEs will end up playing in the new system. I could see major changes in the LB groups. Good competition coming with the numbers we return though IMO.
DB - Can this group get better by getting some newcomers? Doubtful at the moment for CBs since we didn't land a JUCO and most of the top high school CBs probably already signed with a team. LJ hasn't impressed anyone since he arrived in Lincoln. Will he switch positions? (Never heard anything, I am just thinking about how to better use him) I bet we will sign at least 2 more CBs in February. With Frost's comments on the radio about the DB positions, it sounds like he wants a few more here.

Chart looks different if a receiver or 2 is not back.
I think people are going to be surprised by our upperclassmen lineman and how good they really are. Coming in Gates was a stud, but he's regressed badly the last 2 years. Gates specifically is going to surprise a lot of people.Gates has never really shone and needs to improve. Understatement.
I don't think that's a knock on the kid either. People used to say he was our best lineman. Prove it

There's definitely some good talent on this team. I'd be surprised if we go anything less than 8-4.
Well, that leaves no wiggle room.We win 6-9 games. Seriously.
Barnett, yes. He was 3rd string LG I believe on the Iowa game depth chart. From stories I have read on here, he isn't going to move up.
I have Jaimes as starting RT on the list above. I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to LT if Gates doesn't step up...
Best tackle goes to LT spot right? Maybe if Gates is 2nd best, they move him to RT...
I might just be talking out of my butt too... who knows.

I like your effort here. Well done.
However, I feel like there will be some personnel changes in the defensive front 7 that are too difficult to predict. Chinander also does some bizarre things to generate pressure. Don't be surprised to see a virtual "nobody" on the roster suddenly get placed in a role where they become a legit playmaker.
The defense was absolute dog **** last season, but I'm betting Coach Chinander, Coach Dawson, and Ruud are more optimistic than most coaches taking over a bad 8 loss defense. I mean they're going to have 24 scholarship D-linemen and Linebackers. 18 of those 24 players will be going into at least their 3rd full season of college football.
When Mike Riley took over in 2015, Nebraska only had 19 scholarship LBs or DL on the roster, and 10 of those players were Freshmen.
There is a whole lot of suck to coach out of these guys, but there are pieces in place to expedite the process.

Why any good receiver would transfer away from Nebraska right now is beyond me, but carry on...
If anything the WRs should be pissed that the staff did not get fired sooner and that Frost was not the coach three years ago. I think UCF threw for about a 1,000 yards more than NU did this year and we threw the ball damn near every down late in the year because we were down half a hundred.CORRECT
OK Im a receiver on a team that has NO DEPTH at Receiver
My team won 4 games and didnt score many points
The NEW guys offense leads the nation in scoring, they went 12-0 and the scheme creates lots of seperation that receivers DIDNT see at NU
But Im upset because I like the old stuff better than the new stuff?
Im thinking I should go to another team? Really?
Cant imagine a team with less WR depth than NU
Sit out a year away from my friends and play scout team- that's always fun
Take my chances that I can break into the starting lineup the following year
On a team NOT coached by someone that has consistently put up video game numbers on offense
Yep that sounds like a great plan- let me punch that ticket right away
BTW- we saw Tanner Lee throw into some pretty tight windows in 2017, When I watch football on Saturdays, I see the better teams receivers catching balls with good seperation- seperation I saw VERY LITTLE of with the 2017 NU offense.
If any of our receivers aren't smart enough to see that the new team will be MUCH better for their selfish self interests than the old team- not sure they are smart enough to play the game- let alone be able to find their way to the stadium or cafeteria without getting lost or running out in front of a bus- here at NU.
At the end of the day:
A post route is a post route
An arrow route is an arrow route
A choice route is a choice route
Ball get offs are ball get offs
Blocking is blocking
Frost has man and zone beaters, pre and post snap reads- just like the WCO guys. He has components of that offense in his passing game where it makes sense thanks to Walsh and his NFL days.
AND - they get more yards, score more touchdowns, play WAY MORE SNAPS and as an added BONUS- get to play on a team that will actually compete and win. Not sure how that isnt a BIGGER BETTER DEAL.
