Throwing the ball to a receiver pass the marker is the QB's decision so I hope you're not trying to change the discussion.
So here's some proof of what I'm saying, hard evidence from the first game (1H only) against Memphis, since you brought it up.
3rd and long, 2 receivers short of the marker
3rd and long, threw well short of the marker
3rd and long (goal, from the 20ish) and here's a receiver short of the goal
In this latest picture, the ball was thrown to a receiver (actually to the defender) in the end zone.
Receivers, in all offenses, purposely run short of the marker. It's drawaing defenders away from other areas of the field where rhey4may be stretching or running someone under the stretch. You have misplaced disgust at Nebraska's receivers, like Keith taught them someting that doesn't happen in every single offense.
Or, you're gonna have misplaced disgust at coach Walters too.

A LOT! And it looks like they're targeting speed. Don't know if anyone is as fast as Killins.
Not a big fan of throwing to a guy short of the sticks on a 4th and long, unless the game is all but over, at all if he isn't double trailer wide open or beating his man toward open field enough for a 1st down.
I could see it if the game is within 3 points and you can get good field goal position.
Other than that I would have to assume it was just better than taking a sack or frankly a bad choice.
Dubs opened my mind up to the field stretching angle, which I took as part of the play design. I'm not sure if those short routes are meant to be viable options if I am a QB though if your man is covered like a biscuit at an IHOP.

After hearing and seeing what the players have been saying since Coach Riley was relieved of his duties, I think a total change out of coaching staff is the right thing to do.
Will we know for sure how it turns out, you are right, it will take a few years. But there is no guarantee by keeping a couple of coaches from the last staff would have worked out either.
And it sure didn't work out having them on the Staff we just Fired.
I wish them all well. I am just happy that they are all gone. The good coaches will find another school, the not so good ones may not.

I think we will see what kind of man KW is and we'll see how this particular player responds after meeting with Coach Frost and his new position coach.
I'd have to believe this player would have to be thrilled with the idea of playing in this offense.

Agreed with the perfect fit in Frost's offense. I think that will be one of the reasons for him to stay.
Scott Frost's resume, age, national acclaim and the positive energy he brings is going to make a difference with many of the kids that would consider transferring.
I do believe there will be players leaving the team though. I don't know Spielman, but I don't think he will be one of them.
