From the article on the front page about 4* recruit Mario Goodrich on what he learned while on his official visit this weekend.

"I mean, I learned that Coach (Mike) Riley is not going to get fired, basically, and that's always good," Goodrich stated as to what new he learned while on his visit, and he added, "Coach Donte (Williams) for sure is going to be there."

Well, alrighty then.

Well, that will be a **** storm of epic proportions if that's the case.
:D I could see Riley staying IF Frost in fact isn't interested. The Fire Mike group had better be ready for it. I guarantee you that there would be staff changes IF Riley stayed but who knows. IF we can't get Frost and we're being told no by the agents of all the hot names out there do you go for another unproven assistant OR do you make Riley hire some different coordinators and an O line coach? Getting the right guy to take this job has been proven to be very difficult lately yes?

Maybe he meant not fired until the end of the season?

How so? IF Frost doesn't want to come back to NU, we can't offer more money than Florida. He has to want the job and I can tell you from my friendships with other college coaches that most of them wouldn't touch NU with a ten foot pole if there is a similar offer with less money available.

We hired the wrong AD. It’s well known SF wants to coach here. This really isn’t that hard.

Is it a sure thing that NU wouldn't pay same or more than FLA?

Dingle...stop guaranteeing things. It's only going to make you look dumb.

GBR
Guaranteeing that there would be staff changes IF Riley is retained would make me look dumb? LOL. First they have to keep Riley. Then they have to keep all the assistants. That isn't happening if for some completely unbelievable reason they decide they have to keep Mike.

If Riley is retained isn’t “ok” with or without staff changes, except for you I guess.

Is not going to get fired. Does not say, "Will not retire", or "Will not resign" or "Will be the coach next year."

I'd like to know exactly what he was told? Did he ask a follow up question? Who told him?

Harry Carry is right. It doesn't really matter what Goodrich was told. As of right now, the assistants and people talking to recruits have no knowledge of anything different than that MR is going to be back. They've been down this road before and know that coaching rumors fly all the time and then when the dust settles some guy they thought was gone is still there and another guy they thought was safe is gone. Another guy they thought would never leave is coaching a different team. You have to assume you're staying where you're at or you'll lose your mind.

You know because? You read it on the boards? I suspect he is too but I'll believe it when I see the press conference.
No. I am very certain, to a probability of 99%, because of the **** product he has put on the field, we fired our AD after the NIU loss (hint: he was fired because of football for the most part), and because Moos knows if he retains Riley the complete bottom will fall out of fan support and that stadium will have tons of empty seats next year.

Exactly. What else would they tell recruits. Because even if you tell them that they don't know if Riley will be back, that would be front page news

IF we get in a bidding war with Florida, Florida wins. Frost HAS TO WANT to come back to NU. Money isn't going to be the be all and end all IF he decides to come back to NU and that's a good thing.

I’m not sure about this. Things have gotten to the point where both Nebraska and Florida could afford to pay top 5-10 money. I’m not sure either school would agree to give that much to frost. Maybe UF has more money to spend, but i do not see either school agreeing to a $7-10 million per year for a guy with two years G5 coaching experience. I could see both schools maxing out around the same dollar amount and then Frost gets to pick what he wants. This won’t be about money imo. I could be wrong tho...

You really have to be kidding right? If Riley is retained the stadium will be empty next year - you will have plenty of leg room to watch games then.

If we are being told no by our top prospects, that does not mean Riley is our best choice. he has had his chance and it has not been pretty

I see Florida and their boosters being much more willing to gamble money to try to win a trophy than Nebraska and make no mistake hiring a head coach like Frost is a gamble.

I’ll be attending every home game if Riley is retained just for the ample leg room and $0.50 Runzas. Hell, the Runzas and hot dogs might even be free by the end of the game if there are enough of them still available and no one around to buy them.

I once attended a New Jersey Devils hockey game for free with my wife and daughter because they gave away free tickets at the grocery store if you bought certain Hostess products.
We may see free Husker tickets if Riley is retained. You will get them at grocery stores if you buy Dorothy Lynch dressings. Lol

WE already have free ticket give aways and have for years. If the weather's a little sketchy or we've already lost 2 games, you can find free tickets all over the place
