I see us opening up airing it out til the run becomes easier we'll see who knows i just hope its a fun game to watch. I am not going to make a drinking game out of missed tackles this week when guys touch the offensive player but just whiff.
If Lee continues his pace that he has had the last 4 games, his final stats look like they could be around 3500 yards, 23 TD and 11 INT. If you told me at the beginning of the season that this would be his stats, I would have said that Nebraska would be 10-2 or maybe 9-3 at the worst. It has been a tale of 2 seasons for him so far. Glad he is finally living up to some of the hype. He was getting eaten alive after 4 games, but has really looked good as of late. Hope he plays well to end the season so we have a good finish. No matter how we finish, I still think Riley is done though.
True. But I'll take it against those kind of athletes.
I was thinking of Wisconsin; however, I don't think Purdue is any worse than Western Arkansas, NIU or Rutgers.
Do we just abandon a concerted effort to run the ball and use it as just a change of pace instead? I think so. Probably going to have to live and die with Lee for this season.
50% against WI with a pick is not even close to good in my opinion.
Also, Purdue lost to Rutgers and lost to Nebraska, who of course lost to NIU... so its seems like they are worse.
They could be better than Western Arkansas, not sure abt that team this year.
Are you for real? Did you see the stats at the start of the game?Tanner Lee hadn't changed at all. Been the same qb all year.
Two interceptions already this game that could have been pick 6's.Are you for real? Did you see the stats at the start of the game?
First 4 games: 229 yards per game, 9 ints.
Last 4 games: 332 yards per game, 9 TDs, 1 int.
The only thing that hasn’t changed in this thread is your absolute stupidity. It is on full display in this one post.
At the time of your post it was one int to two TDs...Two interceptions already this game that could have been pick 6's.
Cool. Two interceptions already this game that could have been pick 6's.
Respectfully disagree. Last 4 1/2 games, 11 TDs to 3 ints is not throwing to receivers and defenders alike. Last 4 1/2 games, completing over 60%.Tanner Lee, against the top teams in the B1G, was never a threat to make a difference no matter how many yards he threw. He, like the most of Nebraska's players, is average at best. He plays hard, I'll give him that, but he is what he is, a 52-54% completion qb who throws a nice ball, to both his receivers and defenders alike.
He simply has to play a lot better in the second half in order for a win today.

Last 4 games is where oldjar07 claimed Lee hasn’t changed. Stats clearly show otherwise.
He is not the reason we are 2-2 the last 4... he is the reason we won last week. Some people just can’t give credit, can they?
If Tanner Lee doesn’t throw lights out last week we lose. It’s as simple as that. My goodness, man, why can’t you recognize a difference between the first 4 games and the last 4 games?Like I said, he plays hard and I'll say he's a decent qb, but Nebraska won as a team last weak, and I give Lee much credit on the last drive, but everyone else on offense played good enough as well for the victory. And I give him lots of credit for playing better, he was able to throw for the td's so far today, but he has to clean the int's up the rest of the game.
Why can't you see that he's a decent qb and nothing more? Hell, on the last drive of the 4th quarter in today's game, he nearly threw ANOTHER INT! He's not good in every situation, he can't throw a touch pass to save his life. And in the last four games, against Ohio State and Wisconsin, he played ok but not great, and certainly not good enough to be a difference maker. In the victories he played better, but that's because the competition was WAY worse on defense. That's a fact, deal with it.If Tanner Lee doesn’t throw lights out last week we lose. Admittedly, this game is looking more like the first 4 games, but to say we won as a team last week is simply not true. We don’t win that game without Lee at QB. In my opinion.
Yep, he didn't lose us the Wisconsin and Ohio State games, but he did nothing to keep us in those games either. Why can't you see that he's a decent qb and nothing more? I don't want to make it all on Lee, and he has shown some improvement, but today was a glaring reminder of the bad things he's capable of, just like the team as a whole. Lee is a tough young man, and he plays hard, but he wasn't able to make the same throws as last week when it was needed at the end of the 4th quarter or in OT today.Yep, he didn't lose us the Wisconsin and Ohio State games, but he did nothing to keep us in those games either.
There’s no defending lee today. He was bad and looked like Tanner Lee from the first 4 games. Why can't you see that he's a decent qb and nothing more? UPDATE: His last pass in OT he threw right to the covered receiver, deflected, game over.
I like him, he's a decent qb, and I will give him credit for improving, but he is what he is, like the rest of the team.
I don't think Lee stinks, exactly. He definitely makes some great throws that QBs we've had in the past could not. But his penchant for costly mistakes is pretty clear, and it's amusing to see his slobbering fanboys blame everything bad that happens on someone else - as if Lee is somehow the first-ever Husker QB who's had a bad supporting cast.Dude stinks.
Wish I could refute this but I can’t. Had hoped the light bulb came on for good for him. Didn’t know it would be Jekyll and Hyde.I hate to say it, but this game was on Lee. I said it to a buddy of mine this week. If we get September Tanner Lee, we lose. If we get October Tanner Lee we win. Today we got September Tanner Lee. And that was against one of the worst pass defenses in the country.
No worries, I think we both saw good things last month from him, no question. And I was hoping he could pull it out again today, just wasn't meant to be. But I can't say the whole loss was on him, the defense let them drive to tie in the 4th and couldn't keep them out of the end zone in OT. Plenty of blame to go around on both sides. Story of how the season has gone, sadly. There’s no defending lee today. He was bad and looked like Tanner Lee from the first 4 games.
The point I was trying to make today was that there was a big difference between his first four games and last four games. Today was terrible. There’s no sugarcoating it. To your point, after today, you are right. He’s decent, but not great.
Honestly, I thought he had turned a corner. Today proved otherwise.
Oldjar, to say he was no different at the point you did was to disregard his previous 4 games, which still doesn’t make sense to me.
After the game I would be more inclined to agree with you. But not after Lee’s 2nd TD pass.
Sounds a lot like our previous QB. Different style and different strengths, but still a guy with a below-average team around him trying to do too much and committing way to many turnovers.I agree that he's not a bad qb. Not a good one either but the poor guy has a Beaver Oline that can't block anybody and a "zero" running game.
We don't have a chance of beating any good or great team (barring a true miracle). Three years of Beaver ball and we just keep getting worse...and worse.....and worse.
I would against Northwestern for sure. They are 120th in passing defense and Nebraska is 30th in passing offense. Nebraska is 108th in rushing offense and Northwestern is 17th in rushing defense.
Where do you rate NW?
I just said there was no difference between the first 4 games and the last 4 games, both good and bad. The good is he puts the ball right on the money at times, better than most qb's can. He did that the first 4 games. He's also inaccurate at times and throws into coverage a lot. He did that the last 4 games and could have easily had more interceptions than he did. There’s no defending lee today. He was bad and looked like Tanner Lee from the first 4 games.

Thanks for explaining it his way. It makes more sense.I just said there was no difference between the first 4 games and the last 4 games, both good and bad. I felt he turned a corner after the first 4 games. His completion percentage in those games was 60-61%, against some tough competition. But Saturday brought me crashing back to earth on Lee. Bad Tanner has nothing on Bad Tommy...Tim, this is not a bs question. I genuinely do not know the answer. What is Lee's completion percentage compared to Armstrong's?
I do know that I read on this board practically every week during Riley's first two years that the offense would really click once Riley and Langsdorf got their quarterback. The coaches had Lee for a whole year before they had to play him. I believe Lee can throw the ball into tighter places than Armstrong. Where I think they are similar in a very bad way is they don't see the whole field. Sometimes I think they both decide who they are throwing to in the huddle. Lee like Tommy throws too many dumb interception.
