They're already saying Frost is going to Florida because it has the best chance to win national titles. Florida teams have always been really arrogant (and in the case of Miami, punks), but it does make one a little ansy on whether or not Frost would actually come coach here given the openings right now. My hope is Florida hires Chip Kelly. Its a good fit! The guy hates recruiting but will be coaching smack dab in the middle of a hotbed, so that will make his job easier.

They are right, as a good chunk of our fan base told anyone that would listen exactly that, when the previous head coach and staff were here.

I don't care what your background is, where you are from, and where you went to college. If you are a competitor and want to win at the highest level, Florida would be tough to turn down. Yes the SEC is owned by Saban right now, but he's not going to be around forever. People better be prepared for the possibility he takes that job.

Timing can be everything in this world we live in. I'm of the belief that he won't entertain any conversations until the end of the year (at least publicly), which would leave Nebraska with enough time to make its pitch. But you know what, sometimes things just aren't in the cards and life goes on.

I hope things work out for Frost to lead the Huskers. I thought it was the right time when he was the offensive coordinator at Oregon. I was OK with him "learning on the job" at Nebraska even though several others were not. Time will tell.

i wouldn't get too worked up. it could happen...

Yep, esp since Moos track record is to give guys another year and not to make a call on MR until after thanksgiving. Meanwhile the ink will be drying on Frosts UF contacts.

So... Fire Moos in that case?

Florida may not be the better job, but recruiting would be a helluva lot easier. Florida produces 300 FBS recruits a year, and Nebraska produces five. Neighboring Georgia also produces a bunch of recruits.

Where would you rather build a log cabin, in the woods, or in the desert? It's all about resource availability.

Nebraska hasn't been relevant in a generation. That, too, makes it harder to recruit. At this point even fathers and uncles are forgetting that Nebraska was good when they were young.

Why would Frost stay in the State of Florida when he could live in Nebraska? It’s hot and humid all year — and filled with angry Cuban refugees. Nebraska has a nice cool winter and — as we can see from this board — the most agreeable folks on the planet. PS The ocean has sharks and golf is on the decline.

Just because Moos hasnt fired Riley doesnt mean he's not looking for his replacement as we speak. We looked terrible for 3 quarters against Rutgers, terrible for 3 and a half quarters against Purdue, and those were wins. Moos has been working the phones identifying candidates since he signed his contract. If Frost goes to Florida, its likely he never wanted to coach here in the first place because he's very likely already been contacted by Moos.

It makes sense for Frost to go to Florida if that is who they want. It also makes sense for them to go after guys like Mullen, Fuente, Kelly too.

Unless you are competing with 30 other people in a cabin making contest and they are all located in or around your forest.

Where you can go to the Midwest where there are fewer trees for sure but you have the advantage over your neighbors in getting the lumber to make your cabin. You have every advantage in the making a cabin but just need to find someone that has the blueprint to make it.

I think I made my point. Haha lotta cabin talk.

The past is the best indication of future performance and Moos’s past was to give Wulff another year.

TrueHuskerFan needs to get here ASAP...he needs to post why NU is a better job than UF and I am hoping it starts with...

Give me a freaking break...here we go again with so many self-hating Husker fans that think the Nebraska job isn't as good as ______________, why don't you just go root for another team...

And of course will have another 15 sentences.

I'm surprised nobody is asking this question. If Florida is such a great place to go and win national championships, then why have 3 out of their last 4 hires been duds? Ron Zook, Will Muschamp and now Jim McElwain have all been fired without even coming close to a national championship. One could even argue that they got lucky with hiring Urban Meyer, and he's proven with his success at Ohio State that the national championships he won at Florida were as much about him as they were being at Florida. Are they just making poor hiring decisions, or is Florida really not as great of a job as it's made out to be?

Steve Pederson was hired late in 2002 but kept Frank solich for an extra year.

If he was going to fire Frank no matter what, then he screwed up by not firing him his first year there and then having to fire him after a better season.

Unfortunately for him, he was not hired at Nebraska until December 20th. That really shortened his opportunity to make a decision to fire Solich.

Fortunately for Moos, he was hired early enough to be able to make a decision at the end of the season.

To me, the timing of the Moos hire will play a large part in the decision that is made.

I don't know all of the details surrounding the McElwain experiment, but the fact is they fired a head coach who won 14 of 16 games in the SEC East and won that division 2 times in 2.5 years. In my book, that's what I would call idiotic. Give me the Big Ten West over that fiasco in Gainesville.

Yep. The timing of the Moos hiring points strongly to new head coach at end of the season.

Florida is a large state school in prime recruiting territory. The SEC East has been similar to the Big 10 West with no real dominant team (until this year w Georgia). Still think Mullen will be the first choice for Florida given his history at UF and proven track record in the SEC.

Dan Mullen has proven that if he has a good quarterback, then he can have a good team (Dak).

Unfortunately for him it sounds like Florida doesn't have any good quarterbacks, so he better find a JUCO QB if he is hired.

Urban didn’t want to stay at Florida for a reason..
Urban didn’t want to stay at Florida for “health reasons” and because he was “so addicted to winning” when in reality rumor has it that there was some infedelity between him and Shelley in the athletic department. They got the hell out of dodge and skipped outta town.

As Husker fans, do we really want to be talking about the "last 3" hires?

Who's talking about Nebraska being the best place to go win national titles? I was responding to the original post talking about Florida being the best place to go win national titles and pointing out that hasn't exactly been the case.

There's always some story down in Gainesville, they fit well in the state of Florida.

Agree that people said that under pelini.
People have said the same under Riley and you know it.
