So... Fire Moos in that case?

Getting the right coach comes down to Moos and what do we really know about Moos? He got lucky when Leech fell in his lap at WSU. Leech was toxic after the debacle at Texas Tech (Even if he was absolved of any wrong doing). I was listening to Leech on Serius XM college sports radio channel for a few years before he got hired to coach the Cougs. Now we have to hope another new AD is shrewd enough and is a good enough closer to get Scott Frost to sign on the dotted line. It is far from a done deal.

They're already saying Frost is going to Florida because it has the best chance to win national titles. Florida teams have always been really arrogant (and in the case of Miami, punks), but it does make one a little ansy on whether or not Frost would actually come coach here given the openings right now. My hope is Florida hires Chip Kelly. Its a good fit! The guy hates recruiting but will be coaching smack dab in the middle of a hotbed, so that will make his job easier.

Florida doesn't have any reason to be arrogant. Dixieland. All about no state income tax and nice weather in the winter.

If I'm Frost, I'd take the job...too much talent

I just know from talking to many of my friends and co-workers, if we do not get Scott Frost there will be a lot of angry Husker fans. Especially since we did not hire Scott when we had the chance and instead hired a 63yr old coach who had not won on any level and was about to get fired at Oregon St. What a stupid hire. Moos better not mess this up or it could take Nebraska Football another decade to recover.

Its been 15 years of screwing up. They really need to get this hire right. If its not Frost its gotta be a proven winner or another up and coming hot commodity. Another Callahan or Riley type mistake would be catastrophic.

Callahan was a proven winner though. He went to Super Bowls. He wasn't a culture fit, and the fans weren't patient with him. Hellova coach though. (Could recruit too.)

He was a good recruiter and a good O line coach. He refused to get rid of horrible DC and that cost him his job. Fans were as patient as they should have been. 2 losing seasons is totally unacceptable at NU or any other blue blood program.

IMO, Riley is not catastrophic. He's done as much as he can to try to unite the team and fanbase. IF he is canned, the next guy will have a fresh slate and as long as he treats people with respect and puts a good product on the field he'll get lots of rope. We are NOT in a terrible spot at all IMO. Heck I think we may be in a better spot as a school to move forward than when Frank was canned.

The team and fan base didn't need to be united. And even if it did, winning a lot of games is the easiest way to accomplish that.

That is an interesting claim. What do you think is better now than when Solich was fired?

This sounds like the typical case where people seem to hang out with like-minded people. If you got outside of your bubble, you'd find out everybody isn't nearly as completely set on Frost as you think they are. The idea that Frost is the one and only savior of the program is ludicrous. Sometimes I wonder if the people who suggest that realize what an indictment of the program that is. It would be a pretty fragile program for which one and only one person could succeed at.
