A. Did you read the whole post?
B. Are you saying dump leach and take him back or simply if the opportunity arose?
A. Yes
B. We can't afford to dump Leach right now. If we could my answer would be YES. I LOATHE the air raid offense. I loathed it the first time I ever saw it.

By all means, lets fire Leach and get rid of his offense that has averaged 27 ppg in SEC play with nothing but freshmen and sophomores all over the damn place….all because a random bro on a messageboard doesn’t think it is pretty enough.

You seriously need to get over the red *** with the Air Raid. Check our current stats against your boy Mullen and tell me how many times we did better than that offensively in his 9 years at MSU. His scoring offense didn’t even break 20 points per game in conference play until Year 4.

He is the winningest coach at MSU in my lifetime. You bet I would take him back. It would be incredibly stupid not to if the situation arose.

Have you seen his competition? It's like going to a midget convention and bragging about being the tallest person in the room.

It doesn't matter. I do not like the air raid. I hated at UK when it was invented and I hate it now. To me it's like watching paint dry.

So just because you don’t like it we should gladly welcome back a guy who averaged 23 offensive points per game in conference play for his career at MSU, and averaged 3 fewer points per game in Year 9 than the current coach is averaging in Year 2? Makes perfect sense. Surely you can understand how completely 17ing stupid and self centered your argument is. You are literally saying you prefer an offense that scores fewer points.

You're like the Sam I Am of the Air Raid.

"Would you like it with a win over Kentucky?"

"No sir, to watch it, I would feel most unlucky!"

"Would you like it if it beat three ranked teams?"

"No! I hate this air raid, no matter how good it seems!"

Nope. Not the way he left. Maybe if he had gone about it a little more diplomatically instead of making it known he wanted out of starkville for several seasons then left us in a lurch with probably one of our best teams in our history. To add insult to injury he gets poached by our homeboy ex-AD. Appreciate what he did for us but do not want him back, ever.

Personally, I thought he would be successful at UF. He had the booster network and that's why I thought he took the job. High profile jobs like UF are a two edged sword. If you don't win 9 or 10 games a year you are gone.

AFA taking him back: only if Leach left and I hope he doesn't. Leach has us moving in the right direction. If he can keep serviceable OL players we will be competitive.

I have a different opinion on this whole Mullen thing, but Scott can kick rocks.

I'm thankful for what Mullen did for our program and that's the bottom line. If you look at where our program was at the end of the 2008 Egg Bowl (when Jack did his famous Sonic Drive of the game was his drive back to Tupelo) and where it was when he left, it's one of the best program rebuilds I've ever seen. In 2008 we were a pathetic excuse for an SEC football team playing in a pathetic stadium with pathetic attendance. Within 5 years Dan Mullen had us at #1 for a large portion of the season, and taught us that we could have a successful program in modern times. He took us to some big bowl games, gave us the gift of everything Dak Prescott, gave us many winning seasons, gave us ranked teams on the regular, ushered in a stadium expansion and large crowds. He talked **** while he was going it, and put our friends to the North in their place. Whether you want to believe it or not, Dan Mullen and family were a big part of the growth that we saw in Starkville over the past decade. I know he's not here anymore, but I will always be grateful for what Dan did, and to think otherwise is simply ignoring reality.

But Loafers, he can eat **** for all I care.

Just Bc you loathe it doesn’t make it a good reason to dump it.
To each his own. Just because you like it is no reason to keep it either. I'll still support MSU and will be happy when we win, but I will be glad to see the end of it. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Exactly the way I feel. The Mullen hate is a perfect example of the old MSU attitude that has held us back for so long. We just can't help ourselves. Now a traitor on the other hand............

Lordy you are so simple. I've made as plain as I can. It's an aesthetic thing with me. It's not the only offense that works out there. I would prefer one I like to watch.

I'd take him back right now.

I would not want him back for personal reasons but even professionally, Dan, while doing well for us, kind of established his MO. That being to almost always win the game he was favored and almost never win the ones he wasn't. I kinda want to see what somebody else can do and Mike Leach has now got me wanting to see more of his style.

You would prefer one that scores less points….especially against good teams. Point blank.

Retreads almost never work. I would take back the young, hungry, trash talking Dan Mullen from his early days. I would not want back the lazy crootin, late season job hunting/bed shatting, marathon running, target shopping Don Merlenz.

As for Loaferz.......17 that guy with a spirit stick!!!

Merlin did do a lot of great things, but you’re having ex-girlfriend amnesia with him. Yeah, he was great for us and to us but towards the end he just wasn’t into us. He kept looking for that next thing. That’s why I have a huge distaste for him. I appreciate what he did to our program, but he left us well before he took the Flarda job. It took a toll on our program’s progression and recruiting. And he never stepped in to squelch any of the rumors. That issue was really insulting.

LOL, You obviously don't know what they are, we are 63rd in the country in scoring. We are 12th in the SEC, ahead of Vandy and South Carolina.

So you're saying it's not possible to get better as the season progresses? We are much better offensively now than we were at the start of the year. Take away the Bama game and then you don't even have a narrative to spin.

You are almost as bad on this topic as you are on covid. Almost.

LOL! You take away the Bama game and a lot of teams would look better. Dan Mullen's stats here would be a heck of a lot better if we could take Bama out too. Surely you realize how bad that reasoning is? You don't get to take the games against the good teams out of your record and stats. LOL! NOW I see why some of y'all came up with the ideas about COVID you did.

You're the one talking about "12th in the SEC in scoring" when not everyone has played Bama.

Not everybody has played UGA either, including us. Their defense is a heck of a lot better than Bama's. Your reasoning is LAUGHABLE. Heck, why don't you just cut out every game we scored less than our average? That would improve it a lot.

In his defense, his initial opinion was that he simply didn't like the Air Raid. We all know he's ignorant, so it's explainable. Of course, because he's Shankass, he gets goaded into an argument that he cannot win (i.e. the Air Raid isn't working), but he digs deeper and deeper because well, that's just what he does. It's pretty comical to watch.

I never wanted him to coach another game for us after that Orange Bowl performance. I never wavered on that opinion and stand by it.

This is what any self-respecting Bulldog fan would have felt about Dumb Mufkins. After we got the number one ranking, we barely got by UK and Arkie, crapped the bed in the big game against BAMA (that game was very winnable), and didn't even show up for the Egg Bowl (not sure we could have won that one, but if we'd beaten Bama, we would have been in the playoffs anyway).

We could have beat GT by three touchdowns, if he'd have at least tried to coach. He 17d us big time.

That guy was phoning it in and begging his agent to get him out of Starkville.

LOL, when you get to pick your data you can always back up what you say. You get fired for doing what you are doing in science. The FACT, backed up by the stats, is that our offense is one of the worst in the SEC. It doesn't fit the "high powered air raid" Our lack of scoring is why we are struggling to win games. It's also like watching paint dry, even when it is working.

Bingo. We PAID HANDSOMELY for what we got with Danny Boy too. We don't owe him ****, much less any appreciation. He was a hired gun to the fullest extent. Some coaches are like that, and some actually invest in their communities - and they are the ones who truly change trajectories. Danny Boy 'kinda' did that, simply because he stayed for 9 years, but again, we had to overpay for him. And the big thing he did, he understood what MSU was and what it was good at, and went with that. But he bailed, and bailed at a bad time. He never truly accomplished anything hard and fast, and usually fell short of what was in front of him.

Leach isn't too dissimilar honestly. He's a hired gun too, but since he's older, he's more likely to stay here for a significant amount of time without much flare-up (even though his agent is already leaking ****, see Texas Tech rumors). He knows we have to have a different offense, and rely on defense. And he seems to like Starkville more than Danny Boy, so who knows. He'll ultimately be judged on whether he can hit that true milestone - that 3rd tier of either making Atlanta or having that true 10-2 or 9-3 year where you WIN the Big 6 bowl game and finish in the Top 10 or so.

ETA: Merlinz is rich now. I have every right to wish for his failure as a college football coach in the job he left MSU to take, and I do so because it makes MSU look better. I don't care about Florida and I really don't care about Mullen. It's about MSU for me, and if helps the next coach think twice about jumping jobs for that blue blood, it's worth it for Danny to lose.

Nope. Never, ever, ever. You can’t go back. It rarely ends well for those that try.

I wouldn't say never. But I have a hard time envisioning what would convince me that he would come back and actually be fired up rather than coast.

I thought he would be successful at Florida too. I think he has just lost his fire. He is a good coach and has the resources. Unless he just has flukishly gotten a toxic locker room (which can happen to even good coaches when there is constant turnover, particularly if you pick up a QB battle with no clear leader), it seems like he has used the greater resources at Florida as an opportunity to coast.
