I tend to believe they aren't that emotionally invested in an individual school. They are emotionally invested in themselves and their current paycheck (school).

I mean do you expect them to wear anything other than the school for which they work? Have you seen any coach in any sport representing another school especially one that is playing against the school for which they work?

It seems like pretty much every beat writer at the Clarion Ledger has that attitude, which I get that it's a ****** paper and a ****** job, but they are mostly there because they are ****** candidates. The only beat writer since I've been paying attention that didn't act like that was the guy that went to Memphis (Veazey maybe?), who ironically was the only one I remember that was actually pretty good at his job and could have justifiably been annoyed at being stuck at the Clarion Ledger.
You can say that about 99% of journalists, sports or non-sports. They literally think they should rule the world but have never done anything of substance.

I think the answer here is that you just don't do this... You don't make this post. You avoid the topic or you do a 'this one is tough for me but go horns' type post. There is no reason to spit in our faces and pretend like you don't know or dislike the other team.. It's much better to just avoid this topic completely by not making the post OR you speak directly to it.
This is very reminiscent of Mullen/Grantham doing the chomp in our stadium... It's just tacky and lame and it is the 'forgot who brought you here' mentality. You may have used us as a stepping stone but that doesn't mean you should treat us like **** after you leave. That little Horka video would have been fine (considering his alma-mater is Texas), until he threw in the "**** Mississippi State". It was just a little childish considering MSU has been good to him and provided the subject material for his first job out of college. He was on Finebaum the other day saying how much he appreciated the University.
I've got a few family members who graduated from Texas and I throw on a Texas shirt just to be respectful at their games, but you won't see me EVER wearing anything but maroon at our games. I actually really enjoy going to Austin and being around their fans for the most part. Texas fans are VERY proud of themselves and their school, although they make the demeanor of Ole Miss fans look like a walk in the park. The Texas fan base for the most part is "well-to-do", successful and good people. They have been successful at one time or another in every sport they play, so they have a reason to be like that I guess.
At least they're not Arkansas fans.
