We have a good baseball team.

Expected see more discussion of a walk-off home run. I guess message boards are better for complaining about starting pitching and lack of hitting.

So here is what I like:
-Pitching depth. We all like this. This may be the deepest pitching staff I’ve ever seen at State. Lemonis and Foxhall have a really good problem of trying to find innings for dudes. 1 run in 45 innings is remarkable, regardless of competition.
-MacLeod and Cerantola looked good this weekend. That is promising. Gets more difficult next weekend.
-Defense is improving. I think bringing in Forsythe and moving James over has worked well so far. The defense also deserves credit for backing up the pitching staff over the last 45 innings.
-Hitting hasn’t been there at times, but I can’t imagine there are many teams as clutch as our guys. We’ve entered our final at bat trailing six times. We put men on base and scored every time. We won three of those games. We may not get as many hits as we’d like, but it is really difficult to get 27 outs on us. That’s what matters.

Worried about the offense. I think the pitching staff can carry us to a National seed though.

I see the frustration but we also have an ability to improve. Baseball is definitely streaky but this team has the talent and capabilities to be elite. At some point our pitching will struggle and that’s when it’s important for our offense to step up.
Until then I’m happy with our hitters producing at key moments

We have elite pitching and timely hitting... that’s a recipe to go a long, long way in June.

UCLA proved that pitching can win it all. I think hitting will improve and be plenty serviceable given our arms (minus injury).

Hitting could be a concern, but the fact that they've been able to crank it up late in games when needed is encouraging.

And I think we finally have the truly elite coaching staff we've always deserved.

This is one of these teams I know is really good and I am here for the ride. It’s time to enjoy every game and soak it all in.

We do have a good baseball team. The thing that gives me a good feeling about our offense is our propensity to come back late. That proves we can hit and is a very good trait to have in post season.

And it proves they have grit, tenacity, and a never-give-up mentality.

UCLA proved that pitching could win it all in the dead bat / dead ball era. Since they changed the seams a few years ago, balls are flying out of TD Ameritrade at a much more regular clip. It’s a different game now than it was even 5 years ago. We will have to hit at some point. No way around it.

Exactly. And there is also no way I can be convinced that these bats are the same as the ones they started using in 2011. The seams are not supposed to impact trampoline effect but the ball comes off the bat much differently than it did originally.

Wut? You don't believe facts? The balls fly better because of the spin/wind off the ball. That's why curveballs don't break as much as before, and why balls carry further. The bats are the same. That trampoline effect is gone and that's a good thing, it was all about safety of the players.

I didnt say that. I agreed with him. The new ball makes its fly farther. My point is the trampoline effect of the bats now vs when bbcor was introduced in 2011 seems vastly different. Those games in 2011 and early on were painful to watch

LSU is going to be a very interesting test to tell us where we are. My gut tells me Vanderbilt is the clear #1 team in the conference. Arkansas and Florida are in the next best. And i think us, Ole Miss, LSU, and South Carolina are in the next grouping that are 4th through 7th. It ought to be a pretty even matchup and tell us a lot about what we are. The SEC is loaded relative to college baseball. I'm expecting 3 or 4 national seeds, 6 or 7 host sites, and 3 to 5 SEC teams making it through into Omaha.

Just have to keep everyone healthy and happy. Work on improving our defense and try to find more right handed hitting. The biggest thing is to keep our attitudes focused. We've already seen they don't quit and Lemonis isn't afraid to shake up the lineup or play lots of people.

It's a long way to May and we are going to win and lose some in SEC play. #attitude

Vandy, Arkansas and South Carolina all lost today. And OM is trailing La. Tech late.
