My media WTF of the day is how they've just about quit talking about Cuomo's nursing home disaster that possibly killed a bunch of people because some secretary accused him of pinching her *** or something to that effect.

How much more coverage of his nursing home disaster do you want, exactly? I see numerous recent articles from several major sources. If you're talking about cable news coverage, I couldn't speak to that. And for the record, Cuomo can 17 right off on my account.

I want to see it covered extensively all the way through Cuomo's trial for negligent homicide.

Don't all cars have black boxes now?

Anybody here signed up with the insurance company's "offer" to be continuously monitored for a slightly cheaper rate? I'll pass on that one.

It is plugged into the steering column. It's a diagnostic monitor. It comes from insurance company. I can assure you once it starts to cost insurance companies because the data collected is used in court against them they will stop it.

A guy like Tiger is constantly being followed.

Between Paparazzi type reporters, etc. They chase him relentlessly. He's big news.

Insurance companies, that want to not pay. Hey we want an investigation. That black box won't know anything about his condition.

So, it was like just after 7 am, Tiger realized that he was going to be late for his scheduled appointment.

He was in an area that he was not fully familiar with, and so anyway he punched it, to get there on time.

An area that there had been a lot of wrecks, ...he lost it.

As general reply to “he was late

So he was probably driving fast to get there on time.”
That may be true, but reading a lot of the stories about him from the past, he’s never shown much care for other people’s time/schedule. Everything revolved around his schedule. Maybe this time was different, but I’m not sold on the “he was driving at a high rate of speed because he had an appointment” scenario. It’s more likely to me he was driving very fast just because he wanted to and lost control. Long list of possible reasons that could happen.

It is getting some coverage now that it won't shift blame from Trump for coronavirus deaths before the election. But this isn't a new story. It was out there pretty early on that Cuomo had 17ed this up. It's just that the corporate media smothered it until now. Even now, it's getting about 20% of the coverage it should. A governor of not just any state, but New York, caused a lot of deaths and did so by making an incredibly and obviously stupid decision that just happened to benefit his biggest donors. That's a pretty big story, or at least it would be if it were a republican governor.

You seem to lump right leaning, left leaning, and centrist media outlets all together in criticism of what they focus on. That is surprising, but OK then.

As for reporting on whats important- I agree the news should cover what is immediately important. It can also cover other topics. Global news, national news, state news, local news, sports, etc- all are justifiably covered.

I'd like to get an answer from you on why cable news channels cover Marjorie Taylor Greene's every tweet, or that Ted Cruz tried to take a vacation, but will devote only a passing mention of the Cuomo crisis. I saw a media matters stat that showed in a 24 hour period a couple of weeks ago MSNBC devoted almost 8 hours of coverage to Cruz's vacation but made zero mention of the Cuomo sexual harassment claims. CNN offered roughly the same amount to the Cruz story and less than 10 minutes total (over a 24 hour period) to the Cuomo story. Other news organizations, such as ABC and CBS, had similar disparities. And don't even get me started about the New York Times.

If your answer is anything other than "these news organizations are made up of left-wing demagogues with no interest in fair and equal news reporting," then you are exactly the left leaning hack everyone thinks you are.

They are all guilty of focusing on issues generated by Twitter mobs. The news cycle is the same damn thing every time. Liberal media makes a big deal out of something 50% of the country thinks is silly. Conservative media mocks liberal media making a big deal out of it. Then liberal media reports how racists/xenophobic/homophobic conservative media is because they just don't give a **** about the packaging of butter. Rinse. Repeat. Its unwatchable.

I agree that your scenario above happens a lot. But quite frequently, conservatives lose their collective **** on social media over something, then the media reports on it. Most recently, it sure seems like Mr Potatohead and Dr Seuss books blew up due to conservative outrage and not because conservatives think its silly the liberal media made a big deal of something.

And whether he was on the phone, texting, asleep (he apparently told the deputies he didn't even remember driving) or some other distracted driving action.

I don't know if you know anything about those Genesis SUVs but they are really nice and fun to drive. He was driving in an area with a bunch of hills and curves, where traffic accidents are "frequent" according to authorities. If he likes driving fast, it's not unreasonable to think he was probably having a little fun in that SUV.

No, Mr. Potatohead and Dr. Seuss blew up because it's stupid, stuff like this polls at about 75% disapproval across the country, and people are getting tired of the ********. The media thinks they're mocking or calling out conservatives because they have no self-awareness. Polling also reflects that the mainstream media's approval rating is below Nancy Pelosi's.

I have no idea why they didnt cover certain stories as much as you want them to. I dont work there and I dont have a finger on the pulse of their decision making. I dont watch cable news(or OTA news) so I didnt know until just now that their coverage of Cuomo has been minimal.
I also have no idea why you ignore conservative cable news channels when complaining. Have OANN and Fox News covered the Cuomo crisis? Have OANN and Fox News not covered Greene's craziness as much as CNN and MSNBC has?

By golly, I think you just discovered that cable news channels dont report news evenly! Call the press!...oh wait, they cant be trusted.
I think that all cable news channels focus on what they think will get them the best ratings and that leads to imbalanced reporting.

Question- is this going to play out like your **** wrong claim about covid trackers no longer on websites? You know, where you claim it isnt happening but there are a good dozen stories and covid trackers on websites? If I google 'Cuomo, CNN' then will I come upon a bunch of CNN stories about this current scandal? I know, I know, it isnt TV and that is the only coverage that counts right now since it fits a narrow narrative.
I havent googled that and have no idea if 'Cuomo, CNN' will come up with anything since I havent looked to read more about it.

Typical answer from you. You know exactly why they don't cover certain stories. And I'm not referring to "cable news." I'm referring to all mainstream news.

And no, I just turned on CNN, and switched to MSNBC, and then NBC, and then ABC to confirm before I reported here, and the big red coronavirus death and case count banners that were on the screen around the clock that were a staple during the trump administration and disappeared on all these channels after the election, are still not appearing on the screen.

The theory I was responding to was that liberal media makes a big deal of something, conservative media mocks it, then liberal media cries racism/sexism/other isms.

I agreed that a lot of times that theory happens, but I disagree that its always and provided two recent examples that dont fit the theory.

Now you come in with some response that doesnt disprove my comment that the Potatohead story doesnt fit 360's theory, and instead just rants about how dumb the stories are.
In the end, the Potatohead story doesnt fit the theory and there are tons of other stories that also dont fit the theory. For Potatohead, the company released an announcement and people directly lost their **** on Twitter. The story was then picked up by both conservative and liberal media outlets and news opinions followed. That doesnt fit the theory.

The covid tracker was about websites. You are now defending your wrong claim by citing TV. Websites and TV are different things.

I don't know who the heck was talking about websites. I was talking about TV channels. There was a 24/7 chyron on CNN and MSNBC in bright red counting covid cases and deaths right up to the election. If you're disputing this, you're dishonest.

And cable news network/news are mostly the same thing. One is a 24 hour version of the other.

The majority of people that watch cable news are cons and yet cons hate cable news. Weird.

You are all over the place. You say cable news, but apparently dont mean cable news. You agree that websites dont have covid trackers, but claim you were talking about TV.

This is all just so dumb to argue over because its not new and is well known. The issue seems to be that you only see one side as slanted. The media as a whole is slanted. A lot slants one direction and a lot slants the other direction. The Fairness Doctrine was eliminated back in the 80s and this is the **** that comes from it- talk radio and news outlets that are clearly slanted and can provide comfy echo chambers for consumers.

Let me rephrase it. Liberal news outlets tend to spotlight issues that focus on feelings and outrage. It's easy fodder. You can't prove or disprove it. It's immeasurable. IMO, it's like running an expose' on what's the best color to paint your fence. In turn, conservative media makes a big deal out of the people that a big deal about the color of a fence. Then the liberal media runs stories on how homophobic/xenophobic/whateverphobic conservatives are because they don't give a ****. The awesome part is that liberal media gets to run 2 stories on the same topic because, without fail, conservative media takes the bait.

Quite frankly I think it's a shameful from all sides.

What sums envelopes this whole thing perfectly for me is NPR leading the charge against Dr Suess because it's offensive. When last year they named Cardi B's "Wet *** *****" song of the year.
