Academic prestige can be overrated and yes there are many doctors that went to state but if you don't believe that a degree from Northwestern is far more valuable and will create many more opportunities for him, I don't know what else to tell you. This isn't a dig at state.

But in the business world, if you are on Linked In, you will see CEOs, Presidents, Executive VPs, etc., with MBAs from Colleges and Universities people have never heard of because they don’t even have Athletics or have very limited Men’s and Women’s sports programs. Didn’t we just recently have a Rhodes Scholar? Isn’t that a pretty exclusive club with limited acceptance.?
Yes, an MBA from Vanderbilt is a huge Resume enhancement, but exceptional students at even Ole Miss can reach high goals. The thing is, the kid can play on a very good football team at Northwestern and still get a prestigious degree. Vanderbilt, he can do one but not the other. As soon as Cutcliffe leaves Duke they will be back to Vandy level football.
