just getting embarrassed tonight
Great coaches don’t get scared in big gamesWhat a ridiculously dumb statement. He is a fantastic coach. He gets scared in big games but the dude can flat run a program. He was not even trying tonight bc he had no weapons and had obviously agreed not to put Trask at too much risk
Sabans not a great coach. Just a great recruiter.
Hell mark Dantonio is better than saban.

Dan Mullen is an 8-4, 9-3 coach. Don’t try to make him out better than he is. The fact that he got as much out of MSU as he has out of Florida should tell a lot about Dan Mullen. Has he EVER HAD Florida ranked #1? Nope. But he did have MSU ranked #1. Trask is no Dak Prescott, I don’t care who thinks otherwise.
He's in the top 10% of current college coaches. Unfortunately for him he's not in the top 5%.
Let’s make a list of who don is not then decide whether he’s good or great.
He’s no —-
Saban
Dabo
Urban
Spurrier
He is in a group with—
Kirby
Coach O
Mack
He’s not great!
But he’s not great? Comparing him to O is a joke, right?
well O does have a ring knows what it takes to win and is not an arrogant prick
greatness is not awarded based on a curve - just results
He does have a ring. I think Mullen was a big part of the reason Florida won under Meyer. I think O’s ring was because of his assistants and catching lightning in a bottle with a freak transfer. We’ll see how O does over the next couple years. Players always improve under Mullen and he’s a pretty sure bet to improve your program. Can’t say that for many coaches.
Saban does the exact same thing, except he's got better players.^This. Dan runs a system that wins most games, but does not aim to win them all. He does not game plan ahead of time for key games. He does not leave plays in the bag to pull out for key games. He runs his system game after game exactly the same. That will give you a prepared team, it will train up your talent and maximize it, but the downside is it leaves him vulnerable in key games to teams and good coaches that now know exactly what to prepare for. He runs a great program, but is a poor game day head coach (clock management, etc). He's a good coach, above average for sure, but will never be great.
You're trying to make fun, but you're failing. This is what was said, Mr. Strawman:I’m making fun of another poster.
Saban is a phenomenal coach. Mark Dantonio is a good coach also but no where near saban.
Oh, and he needs to quit trying to be an OC on gameday as well, but that's clearly secondary to talent.
His playcalling is awful. He CAN, however, come up with great gameplans. He's not particularly innovative, but very good. I think if he'd give this up to a dedicated OC/playcaller, he'd handle the gameday decisions much better.Where does this thought come from? What’s wrong with his play calling? I hate Mullen as much or more than anyone and hope he stubs his little toe on furniture everyday, but some of the criticism of him is just not true.
The biggest flaw I can see of his is the way he manages a clock.
I think the number of players he put into the league while here says that he was OK at recruiting. His results at Florida will be even better...if those idiots give him time.
Dan Mullen absolutely knows how to build a program but he doesn't know what to do with it when he gets it built.
