Lose an election and all the right-wingers want to talk about term limits, the deficit, armed revolution, seceding, voting fraud. All the "widespread voting fraud" agenda Trump started pushing last spring has always been a lie. The big lie.

For the ignorant, the Pakistan aid has nothing to do with Covid relief. The Omnibus appropriations bill and the Covid relief/stimulus are two different things. The term "gender" triggers many and that's what the right-wing media has been pushing. It's a simple political media move to shift the focus.

A Covid bill could have been done long before now.

I genuinely wonder if pushing for a covid bill instead of focusing on a new Supreme Court Justice would have tipped the election for Trump?

I think you might have a problem with the way people are voting. I do too, but where you and I diverge is that I would prefer people wisen up and stop voting for the same folks year after year. You want to bail on the American experiment and blow it up with violent revolution instead of some constitutional approach. If our founding patriots intended for the country to be run via the end of a barrel, a republic would not have been formed.

If my representative in Congress aligns with my views for the most part, then if I vote them out that means I have voted for their opponent who I would most likely disagree with.
Why would I vote for a person whose views I know I dislike?

The only exception to this is the rare time when two people from the same party duke it out due to redistricting g or something like that..and then they eventually go up against an opponent from the other party.

I just can't see myself voting for people I knowingly disagree with. As it is, I vote for people that are the lesser of two evils. You are suggesting that I then vote for the greater evil the next time around.

...or have I misunderstood your statements?

My comments were in reply to the suggestion that voting out isn't a real option and civil war is the way to bring change to the system stacked heavily in favor of incumbency.

The omnibus spending Bill and the covid relief Bill were separate but were basically worked on hand in hand so while they crafted one they were doing the same for the other and they were voted on within minutes of each other. They could have easily taken some of that foreign spending money and moved it to more relief for Americans. The Pakistan money is one thing but the billions of dollars going to Ukraine, Sudan, Israel, etc could have been cut back and they know it.

That’s just it, it’s not $2 million in a budget, it’s $10 million in a COVID RELIEF BILL, what exactly is that $10 million relieving other than our not so fat wallet.
Absolutely. I guess I should have clarified I wasn’t making a parallel argument. Just a one off observation. I think it’s what gets us in trouble with spending. I would never spend $1000 on a pair of shoes. But $1000 doesn’t have the weight it does for a multi-millionaire that it does for me.

Apologies, I read your prior post as 'dont vote for the same folks year after year' in context that this is how we would keep em on their toes- by continually voting them out. It didnt make much sense to me, but thats how I read it. Thanks for the mallet hit to the head to clarify what you meant.

I agree with you- we should use the power of voting to move em out if we dont like what they are doing. But thats how the system works right now and here we are- with people that many dislike. I guess I now just dont understand why someone would vote for a representative that they dont want in office. That is what you are suggesting we stop, and I fully agree. Its insane that people are doing such a thing in the first place.

I don't have one. America is screwed by both parties and there's really not much we can do about it at this point. When the country goes bankrupt, we may begin to see some change.

Trump could have been calling for $2k checks a long time ago. And he absolutely would have won if he did. How do you pass up an opportunity to legally pay people to vote? (Rhetorical. I know why.)

there wasn't any tipping of the election with the fraud in Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Charlotte

It wasn't an either or. Trump wanted a deal and republicans basically gave in to democrats demands, and Pelosi was the one to essentially pull out of negotiations by raising her demands when she realized republicans were going to give her what she wanted.

So yes, another covid stimulus probably would have helped Trump, at least Pelosi thought so and whatever her faults, it's not that she can't figure out the political winds. But Trump pushing more wouldn't have helped him any because even with more ability than other presidents to get around the mainstream press, even the sequence of covid stimulus negotiations is too complicated, as evidenced by the fact that a lot of people apparently don't know that it was Pelosi that nixed the deal.

Voting against incumbents and making folks in Washington less comfortable is a more sane approach.

Pulling power out of DC where everyone is a career politician and giving more power to local government would also be a good start. I believe most local politicians are actually serving to make the place they, and their family, live better. And local govt. pay should stay low so that no one is tempted to get in it for the money.

Not picking on you directly - I'm victim of this as well, but it's crazy to me how we can consistently be dissatisfied with Congress year after year but at the same time seem to be comfortable with "our guy". Everybody else's rep sucks, but I guess I'll continue to vote for mine. Something about human nature I suppose - we become apathetic and stop voting or we fall in line with our recurring choices that are more in it to maintain the existing 2 party dynamic than they are simply representing their constituents.

I guess at the end of the day, unless we are truly suffering, we tend to take the bad and continue to support those that enable a system that leaves much to be desired in exchange for short term stability. I just hope we don't topple over or grind to a halt as a result.

As big a lie as the Russian collusion thing the left wingers pushed for 3½ years? Because they lost an election? That big? Yeah, not quite that big is it.

A Covid bill could have been done long before now.

Thanks, Nancy.

Term limits just change the name, not the establishment. Do we just take it and hope for the best?Cross parties if the establishment gets out of hand? Go full maga and disrupt with crazy? Go full woke and disrupt with crazy?
Vote in primaries. That's all you do. There is no solution outside of running yourself like AOC.

See the report of the Republican-led Select Committee on Intelligence's final report from August. Please, show me any evidence of the type of widespread voter fraud Trump claims.

The Committee found that Manafort's presence on the Campaign and proximity toTrump created opportunities for Russian intelligence services to exert influence over, andacquire confidential information on, the Trump Campaign. Taken as a whole, Manafort's high-level access and willingness to share information with individuals closely affiliated with theRussian intelligence services, particularly Kilimnik and associates of Oleg Deripaska, represented a grave counterintelligence threat.

You left out he is also demanding they remove the pork.

I think what I saw from him last night where he did call out all that stuff by name and the dollar amounts is what I expected from him all along. He sounded like a true outsider last night that was calling out the political BS. Maybe I just have not paid enough attention but I don’t think he did that enough during his presidency.

Please enlighten us with the evidence of such alleged fraud, which orange man's lawyers failed to produce time and time again in court. I mean real evidence, not just right wing media conspiracy theories.

The special counsel found that Russia did interfere with the election, but “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple efforts from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.

"Bitcoin just hit its all time high, here's how to invest!" - a real recent headline, smh.

Might be wise to wait until it tanks back to 3k. Shouldnt be long now with SEC hitting XRP.

My advice is dont forget to pay your taxes.

The majority of the money going to Mississippi goes to Bennie Thompson’s District...the Big Delta Farmers won’t go broke as long as their mailbox don’t get knocked down.

The house and senate both pass bills but the one the house passed was full of unnecessary expenditures and would never have passed the Senate. Nancy refused to negotiate until after the election. Fact.

It's the Mitch McConnel syndrome

He's had the approval rating of a punch to the side of the head for decades, but his electorate has been convinced the other party is literally evil satanic athiest baby killing socialist communist antifa super soldiers, so they vote him back in by huge margins every time.
