I was there.

I still remember my parents coming home from that game. I was 7 and we had a babysitter. I don't know if they were drunk or emotional, likely both, but 40 years later, I remember them coming home in their green Good Times Machine.
I'll join hd6 in admitting I wasn't there, but I 100% remember the day.

I clearly underestimate how old the folks on here are.

Sorry, didn't realize that there was an age limit for posting. Ir was kind of a joke post (even though I was really there), but I guess only old people like myself would get it.

I wasn't there but I could have been. I was given a choice by my aunt and uncle, we will take you to one of the last three Jackson games (1980) for your birthday. I didn't give a crap about Auburn. I figured Bama would kill us. I went to the Ole Miss game. We won a great game but ......I could have been at the greatest win in school history. I wasn't even close to being born for the second greatest, Army 1935 or so. . I WAS at the third, Auburn 14. That was a fantastic day!

Similar story. Was planning to go to this game. But went to Starkville & watched us lose to USM 42-14, then went to Tuscaloosa & saw Bama beat USM 42-7. Figured I don’t need to see this beatdown so didn’t go. I do go up 2 week later to watch us destroy LSU.

You got the joke. But, yes I really was in the 50,000 that were actually there. I lucked up because, I had not planned to go until my father-in-law came up with a ticket for me at the last minute. He was not a State fan, and he was talking Bama smack on the way to the game. Needless to say, I really enjoyed the ride home. Lol.

I was there. I was living in Columbus GA and friend said let's go. I said why in hell would I want to drive to Jackson to watch State get a *** whupping. He said just for the hell of it. So i did. Was on the south west side where the game ended. It was an exciting moment in time

If you became a FAN during the croom error then you are quite unique....just yanking your chain

It’s actually a really simple story. I was young. Like 9-10- not sure- older sister went up to Starkville with some friends and brought home a State hat for me. I pledged my allegiance off of that alone- my family wasn’t really into sports and I was.

Yes, that was one of their first games

They showed it several times that week.

But hey, they were new, had no programing material.

Even showed pickup games of guys playing racket ball (nobody ever heard of).

I was there that day. I remember my dad complaining about going because he didn’t want to see State get beat. We were on the non press box side on the 20 yd line where the goal line stand occurred. I remember everyone stayed in the stadium for about an hour after the game was over just celebrating. I have never seen my Dad as excited in his entire life before or since. It was a great day to be a Mississippi St fan.

Wasn't there, we were hauling firewood. Heard it from the mouth of Jack Crystal.
I was there for the worst game ever in Jackson, my moms work gave her tickets and we went for the unholy kick game.

Nope. When friends from my hometown heard a buddy and I were going they started bringing us tickets to sell. We got to the stadium 30-45 minutes before kickoff and held some tickets in the air for about 15 minutes and didn't even get any inquiries. We gave them to some kids who had been selling programs outside the stadium but had no tickets to the game.

I was there, didn't want to go, but big bama fan buddy that knew that i could get tickets to all of the games there begged me to take him. We were in the 10th grade so I guess that makes me old too. Afterwards, me and some buddies bought a ton of the 6-3, I was there stickers and covered the bama buddy's 77 monte carlo with them.

after the fumble recovery, the camera man turn and videoed me and my Pal dancing (the dirty dog). Friends called me all week saying they saw us on ESPN.

I was there with my in-laws, big state fans too. One thing that is still enjoyable memory was a young bama couple sitting in front of me. They were sitting and bawling after the game. I of course rang my bell in hopes it would make feel better.

I was there this year when we beat LSU! One of the few that got to watch the misery and bewilderment of the crazy Cajuns! I loved every minute of it.
