Good lord I hope not. As bad as the white helmets are, they're even worse with grey pants.

I just wish one time a home team would make LSU wear maroon. Home or road they wear white.

Maroon-Maroon-White would be my guess. That’s what it should be at least. Gray pants would also be acceptable. But maroon helmets are a must. No more of this wearing white lids the majority of the time like Joe did last year. White helmets should be worn at most one of two times a year, and only on the road as part of the “stormtrooper” look.

I have given up on the interlocking MSU, so I have capitulated to the M-State logo.... With this in mind the only 2 unis we need are below. Maroon helmets only... No sense in wearing a white helmet the other pricks can mark up. We leave the skid marks on you...

No white helmets,no white helmets,no white helmets,no white helmets. I HATE white helmets. Every time I see them I think of Croom!! I want that miserable time in our program to go away from my memory.

Even forgetting Croom, the white helmets look like ****. Should have retired that look after the Snow Bowl.

Good for them, I don't watch or care about pro ball with the exception of Dak Prescott. I have never liked watching the NFL, irregardless of their pants selection. And the fact that NFL teams wear dark colored pants doesn't change the fact that I think college teams wearing them makes them look jucoish.

mullen had them wear purple the first year they came to starkville (2009)....that game with failed jump pass for the win. Anthony Dixon got cheated on a TD. not sure if it was this play or not.

You can think whatever you want, no matter how ridiculous it is. But it's pretty freaking ridiculous to claim dark pants looks like JUCO football when they're worn by plenty of teams at all levels of football.

I hope we get the Banner Mstate off helmets and hats, etc ASAP. We have so many great Vintage logos to use that are way better than Banner Mstate. Leach is about to bring national exposure to us weekly for hopefully the next several years. Now is when we should brand the better helmet and logos.
I do not understand our university being so stubbornly fixed on banner Mstate.
At the very least Flying M for a retro helmet game, to go with the whole air raid. But banner Mstate is just the worst logo in the SEC.

White helmets with a vintage logo for a game.... just a thought.

It's absolutely the worst logo in the conference. And to make it worse, it

only reminds me of Larry Templeton. That was his logo he smeared across all sports. Remember when they tried to put it on the baseball caps? I still gag a little thinking back on that. We need something with a bulldog. Embrace one of the coolest and well liked mascots in sports. I want people to view us as the Bulldogs. Not the M-Staters.

The problem is there’s so many damn bulldog teams. We have brand recognition with our current logo, but we should retire the word mark logo to university letterhead exclusively.

Really? You think the Ole Miss is better? You think the Auburn AU is better? The T for Tennessee? I actually like the banner MState. I like the bulldog with the banner MState too. Don't like the MS or some of the old stuff. The Flying M is ok.

Oh you haven’t heard? We’re rebranding to the HailStaters*******

But seriously, we seem to go out of our way to plaster hail state on anything and everything and everywhere we possibly can.

Hmm wonder why bama doesn’t have roll tide In one of their end zones ?

Auburn doesn’t have war eagle in one of theirs.

Hell, even those cheating mf’ers in Oxford don’t have hotty toddy in either end zone.

Here is the true story of the M-State logo.

Richard Williams hated the MSJ logo (the pre-Nike one) and was always trying to create something basketball only. The track team was hosting a meet and Marshall University was there. They had an early version of their green M with Track written across it. Richard Williams was good friends with Al Schmidt at the time and had stopped by. He called the SID and got him to get everything from Marshall. Williams talked LT into it and the M-State concept was born unofficially and used in basketball only.

If you remember, the first M-State painted at the center of the court replaced the weird SEC logo/24 that Jeff Malone donated and never paid for. Funny thing about that M-State is that it was not proportioned right (not square) and looked terrible. (See it in the video here: https://youtu.be/gPhbxZCzNxw?t=695)

Anyway, at the time we were a Nike football and track school. All the other sports had their own contracts. Prior to the 2002-03 basketball season, Stansbury inked a deal with Adidas. Just so happened that the 2003 football season was the great falling out with Nike and the retirement of Sherrill. Adidas wanted a full contract then, but Russell (who was losing Auburn) made a bid that LT couldn't turn down, so we had a five year deal with Russell.

Contrary to urban legend, Nike does not "own" the interlocking MSU that was used in the late 90s/early 00s football. LT just phased it out in favor of the M-State. It was used for a time by Midwestern State in Texas and Montana State, both non-Nike schools. We won't put it on a throwback helmet because they know that people will love it and want it to be permanent.

If the last sentence of your post is actually true then that is the most MSTATE thing I’ve ever read. Only we would decide not to use something in fear of it being popular.

Not sure I believe that though. The school would earn $$$ off the sale of the MSU logo apparel would it not?

Doesn’t make much sense.

Exactly. Yes, it's a pretty boring logo. So are 90% of the logos in the SEC.

Dead horse, but...

Why can’t we just go with the M over S (baseball logo)? Unique, cool looking, classic.

Best logo we have and only baseball gets to use it. I understand the baseball purists want to keep it baseball only. I’ve never really understood that. Not like we’d be taking it away from baseball, just expanding its use.

The MSTATE logo is like bland oatmeal. Not awful, but certainly not good. I don’t know of anyone that really likes the thing. I avoid buying anything with it if I have another choice (don’t usually have a choice). The M over S seems to be universally liked. The old MSU Nike logo is more popular than the current dry toast logo. Not sure how you blow by 2 more popular logos and end up with the one we have. Strange.

Good info, and I have also heard similar info on the interlocking MSU. Chad Thomas, our marketing director before Leah Beasley, spoke to a sports studies class I was in and told us something similar. This would’ve been circa 2012. I believe his comment was the Nike doesn’t actually own it, rather we have just chosen to not use it.

But then I realize there has also been other contradicting info on that (an interview with Mike Nemeth from years ago namely) so I don’t really know what to believe other than the athletic department isn’t really interested in the interlocking MSU logo regardless of if we have rights to it or not.
