I don't know, but I doubt that the NBA or NIKE was worried about the Chinese public. I suspect that they were worried about their relationship with the Chinese government. But maybe the Chinese public is more nationalist than I realize. It was absolutely a pr issue for the nba in China. That messaging was directed at the Chinese market. That message wasn’t directed at Americans. That was a beg and plea to China not to kick them out. Like when Trump compliments Putin. That’s aimed at Russia, not America and it serves a strategic purpose.
They don't want to wait until the full story comes out. They want to get out in front and claim that it's all about race to further divide the country. They want it to be about race so that the looters and rioters can burn down cities and assault law enforcement and innocent people while doing so
Titling the article, “Lebron James is a bigot” is far right, not disagreeing with his point. Just as is saying Trump is a white supremacist. This isn’t hard.
In 2005 Kanye said on air GB didn’t care about black people and the country gasped. That’s was incredibly controversial. 15 years later and that’s about as mild as it gets. If you don’t see the breakdown of rhetoric in this country you’re kidding yourself.
Bwahahaha. You should run for office...Something no one wants to talk about is the fact that our police face an armed citizenry. That is not the norm in most developed countries.
Bwahahaha. You should run for office...
Dear law abiding citizens, give up your rights so criminals might be more successful in their attempts to escape arrest.
Genius!
Few things are more cringe-worthy than coming to SPS and reading a debate about the expendability of a person of color with priors or what they should do if they don’t want to die.
Downvote away, bitches. I got no 17s to give.

You know what’s cringe-worthy? Cowards who criticize police for enforcing the laws that keep them safe. If a cop tells you to freeze and you decide to ignore him and reach in your car, you’ve just declared yourself expendable. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Manners. Whether it is because religion is still important here or just the culture of southerners people in the south still teach their children manners.
I was born in the United States of America, a country founded on the idea that criticizing and questioning authority was not only acceptable, but necessary. You can 17 right off with that blind subservience ****. If you want to give up your rights under the veil of “keeping us safe”, you can go to North Korea or Russia or any other despot-ruled nation who uses those same lines to enact authoritarian measures.
And “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” when talking about a man being shot in front of his children is just the type of cringe-worthy comment I’m talking about.
Now enforcing our laws is anti-American ? Sounds like you need to look for another country.
He didn't run PR for the NBA. It wasn't a PR issue for the NBA. The issue for the NBA was managing their relationship with Nike and China. He literally ran PR for China because China was catching flak for its treatment of Hong Kong. He ran PR for China because it furthered his business interests. When he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Great post. These anti-American bootlicking thugs are all too happy to wipe out the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendments. Makes you wonder which other parts of the Constitution they want to dispense with.
This is idiotic. The 4th, 5th, and 14th amendment have never provided that it is unconstitutional to arrest someone. Even if you are being wrongfully arrested, the neither the law nor the constitution provides you the right to use force against police, nor do they provide that if you are in the process of being arrested, and refuse to comply, physically resist arrest, and then reach for something out of the cops view, that the cops have to wait to see if you are pulling a gun to shoot.
This is basically the exact same situation as the incident (in Pennsylvania, I think?) whose video made the rounds a month or so ago. Police tried to arrest, tried to subdue with physical force, tried to use taser, and then the arrestee reached for something in his car. The only difference is in this situation it was the arrestee that was shot rather than the policemen, because this policeman didn't wait for the arrestee to shoot first. I kind of find it hard to fault him for that.
ETA: the video of the incident, and it was in Pennsylvania:

You are not that stupid or ignorant to "not know how nationalistic the Chinese people are"
But you are known to just make up lies when you back yourself in a hole with a dumb argument.
