I liked the new Midway quite a bit. The older one just has that time period where it is a little more heroic swagger in that old movie sort of way. Heck it's got Charlton Heston in it. The new one is more towards the modern realism. Both worth watching.

Did anyone mention "Bridge over the River Kwai"?

A short story:

One of the first dates I took the wife to see was "Love Story". We were standing in the lobby at the Jacksonian Theater when the show before ours ended. When the people came out, many were dabbing at tears and a few outright bawling. As I saw this, I thought, "Oh No. What the hell did I get myself into?" I survived.

There's three certain ladies in High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider that are timelessly beautiful. Lonesome Dove is the best "old" miniseries ever filmed. Fight me.

And if you're saying those movies are "old", 17 you, millenial**

Old for everyone else. I am just a Boomer so I will throw a 17 you back atcha.

Have Gun Will Travel

Since we're on the old kick... Been trying for years to find a place to download Have Gun Will Travel... I found some episodes on YouTube, but I want to own the entire series.

DVD feels like reel to reel these days. I think I chunked the blue ray player a few years ago in fact.

back to back episodes come on ME TV at 8:00AM CDT on Saturday mornings

You might also try Peacock or Tubi for on demand

I watched Blazing Saddles the other day. Holy smokes that movie would make Hollywood and the media implode if they rewatched it. I'm shocked Jim Acosta hasn't asked President Trump if he watches it. Good god there are some funny moments in it.

He was involved with the movie. Might even have a screenwriting credit if I remember right.

Nevermind I checked and he didn't. He did like it though.

I haven't seen that movie in years, since it was in theaters. I guess I need to find it and watch it before it becomes illegal. I don't even remember what it was about or why it's now controversial.

The Graduate made me have inappropriate dreams about women three-times my age for years.
Airplane and Jaws were groundbreaking classics that will never be duplicated. I'm affraid the days of going to see in theatre what everyone is buzzing about are over.

Not so sure about that. When AMC theaters reopened earlier this week there were sellouts everywhere. Of course, they were practically giving tickets away.

They used to show it on BET a lot. Not kidding. It’s a satire of racism but people will clutch their pearls about the slurs used and not understand it.

I've recently found a pretty interesting series on TCM on Saturday nights. The Essentials. A lot of old classics from different genres and different eras. Some are outstanding, some I just don't get. Watched the Maltese Falcon again a few weeks ago, 2001 A Space Odyessy was on but I skipped it since I saw it a few months ago. Early into John Wayne's The Searchers right now. Not a big western fan, but it's looking pretty good so far. Next week is North by Northwest.
