That was the last good Rocky movie. They tried to get too serious after that. Creed was good.

There's three certain ladies in High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider that are timelessly beautiful. Lonesome Dove is the best "old" miniseries ever filmed. Fight me.

Airplane and Jaws were groundbreaking classics that will never be duplicated. I'm affraid the days of going to see in theatre what everyone is buzzing about are over.

I was thinking the same thing. Old movies are like Casablanca, Some Like It Hot, Mr. Roberts...

I have never seen a bad Bogey movie. I still need to see African Queen. But Casablanca, Treasure on the Serra Madre, and Maltese Falcon are incredible. No effects to speak of. And yet more riveting than anything made today.

Pro tip, if you smoke like I do then don't go see The Maltese Falcon in a no smoking theater.

Been doing the same thing over the past few months. Watched “M”, apocalypse now, Casablanca. One thing I’ve learned is how good black and white, 100 year old movies can be. Some of them are timeless because the story is so good

Kellys Heroes
The Battle of the Bulge

No Patton, 30 Seconds over Tokyo, Midway, The Longest Day, or just a straight up rewatch of Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan? While the last two are not old they fit thematically with the older ones quite well I think.

Since we're on the old kick... Been trying for years to find a place to download Have Gun Will Travel... I found some episodes on YouTube, but I want to own the entire series.

DVD feels like reel to reel these days. I think I chunked the blue ray player a few years ago in fact.

Haven't looked for the video version but I listen to it on Sirius 148. I know this is a thread about old movies but I absolutely love the old radio dramas. Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Johnny Dollar, Dragnet, Suspense, Sherlock Holmes....etc. I HATE the old comedy's though and turn the station when they're on.

One of my favorite movies of all time. It's perfect.

Tora, Tora, Tora was the film that Akira Kurosawa was fired from (after which he attempted suicide). He was initially hired to direct the Japanese side of the movie, but he spent something like 12 weeks filming nothing but Zeros taking off into the rising sun.

His career was revitalized with Kagemusha (an awesome movie), which was actually produced by George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola, both of whom were huge fans of Kurosawa and wanted to help him out.
