Bottom middle is a timeless design. The top 2 look trendy. The other 2 that look like twins just suck.

If the bottom middle wins, I vote we rename Mississippi the kingdom of Gondor.

Did they ever get permission from K-Swiss for number 1. Would be a monumental fail to get copy right infringement over the flag.

Top 2 are terrible. I'm okay with any of the bottom three. I must have missed the discussion on why one of the stars is gold?

I really hate the shield design, but it might be the only finalist that can be accurately drawn by an average third grader. That's an important consideration IMHO.

Top right flag is pure Ole Miss.

Where's the state flag with some maroon? If we can't have maroon, we don't need red and blue.

My favorites are top left and bottom middle.

Are you saying that's a stealth cush flag? If so, that's some strong CD2 back-rooming right there.

I haven't been a resident of MS in 15 years, so my opinion doesn't matter, but I like the simplicity/minimalism of the top left as well. Other than it being red and blue, and looking like the USMNT shield, why do those of you that hate it do so? Simply curious.

The weird tree grew on me. I like it best.

The flowers are all too complex for a flag. They'll look like *** in the real world.

The shield flag has a nice story. Nothing about it screams Mississippi though. You need a somewhat complex backstory to appreciate it.

Bottom right is best and it's not close. Followed by bottom left, top left, bottom middle and top right (how the hell did this one even make the 1st cut).

The top left one is the only one of those I really like. It's supposedly based on the original seal of the Mississippi Territory, which I think is a nice touch:

The bottom middle one is terrible. The other two on the bottom aren't great but they're not the worst things I've ever seen. Supposedly the top right one was designed by someone on campus. I can't decide how I feel about it. I at least appreciate that it's somewhat unique.

I don’t mind the shield, but if it needs a lengthy explanation to convey the history and symbolism it won’t pass in November.

Same. I’ve been in Texas since 2003.

That being said, I was born in Starkville and grew up in Northeast Mississippi and spent some time in the Pine Belt... the Mississippi River means jack **** to me. The state I grew up in shares a name with it and forms part of its western border. That’s it.

Most of the “great river” is outside of Mississippi and it neither begins nor ends in Mississippi.

I just don’t feel like a nautical/river themed flag is representative of the whole of Mississippi.

I was just never a fan of KSwiss. It's fine, just very generic. Not sure it will ever be recognizable as Mississippi's flag because it's so similar to other organizations that have been using it for a while. We could certainly do worse, and knowing MS, we probably will.

ETA: The worst one is the Arklamissisippi Flag. SO obviously that's the one we'll be voting on first. I think there will be enough people with horrible taste and enough people with sour grapes wanting to sabotage the process that we'll end up voting on that. Not sure if there will be enough people wanting to sabotage it and that have good taste and common sense to stop it from becoming our flag. There definitely would be, but I think there will be a lot of people that hate it but just want the flag **** to be over that will vote yes for it that it may become our flag.

The bottom middle one has grown on me. I hated it at first. It’s my pick. I guess I’m just disappointed because I’ve seen more aesthetically pleasing flag mockups done on this very board. Oh well, anything is better than that old rebel rag.

Let's be honest. They all suck. The government that gives you ****** looking car tags is now trying to give you a ****** looking flag.

The shield is not the shape of the original seal. It looks like a nasty ******* hovering above a toilet.

Try to unsee that!

Why is there a big red ugly L on the top right flag?***

The bottom left and bottom right flags -- the stars are spaced unevenly on the left and right of the center star (so that there can be a center) and that is an absolute disqualifier to me. I have no idea how they even made it this far. It is impossible to unsee that they are not evenly spaced.

The only two reasonable ones are the Great River (shield) flag and the Gondor flag because at least the stars work out correctly.

I think the gold star represents Mississippi where the other 19 are the previous 19 states.
